Chopped judge Chris Santos lost 30 pounds using intermittent fasting

Chopped judge Chris Santos lost 30 pounds using intermittent fasting

“I started this journey to a much healthier me on June 20, and so far I’m down 30 pounds, he wrote on Instagram in October. “Look for ‘before and after part 2’ when I’ve lost another 15 to 20!

On the next season of Chopped, don’t be surprised if one of the judges looks completely different. Chris Santos, a chef and a longtime judge of the Food Network show, revealed to People he has lost 30 pounds by cleaning up his diet and trying intermittent fasting.

“I started this journey to a much healthier me on June 20, and so far I’m down 30 pounds, he wrote on Instagram in October. “Look for ‘before and after part 2’ when I’ve lost another 15 to 20!

His transformation comes after a decade of weight gain. “Over the course of ten years I gained 50 pounds, which is a ton of weight, but if you think about it, it’s five pounds a year, which is less than half a pound a month, he told People. “It just kind of gradually went on and on and on.

Since June, he made his diet more plant-based, and started intermittent fasting three days a week, and on those days he fasts for 16 hours. He also drinks much less beer and opts for healthier options over junk food when he has to have a late-night snack. Once a week, though, the chef has a cheat day, but still watches his portions.

Santos said he tried intermittent fasting because he had friends who had good experience with it. “And you know, if it works for The Rock, then I got to give it a shot, he told People.

He also has been running, and finished his first 5K race. “I’m going to keep running one every other month for a while until I can do a 10K, he told the magazine. “I’m not going to sit here and say that my goal is a marathon, but I’m not going to say that it’s not.

Meanwhile, the event also saw Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Mr Tam Brisibe receive the university’s honorary doctorate degree of Science (Governance and Public Administration).

Brisibe, who delivered the convocation’s keynote address, urged Nigerians to shun their typical knack to point out the ills in the society, but see themselves as part of the problem and solution.

He decried the loyalty of many Nigerians to their ethnic group and religion, calling on Nigerians to consider the interests of the nation first before their ethnic or religious leanings.

To the graduating students, Brisibe called for perseverance amid the vicissitudes of the society that they were bound to face.

#234Star Interview: 5 Minutes with Shiikane

British-Nigerian R&B group recently had a chat with 234Star.com where the sister (a set of twins and their younger sisters) shared their thoughts about fashion, their career and how they got started in music. Excerpts below.

What made you want to get into music?

We’ve always been into music from a young age. Our parents always played music around the house and growing up we sang at church. We knew early on in our lives that we wanted to sing.

What do you enjoy most about performing?

We love the energy from the crowd. There is nothing more special than having the audience sing our songs. Singing live with a band is always amazing us.

Who are the stylish women who inspire you?

Our mom was very stylish. She always had basic pieces and would work around them. tailored shirts, blazers and skirts always accompanied by a silk scarf, broach and manicured nails. We also love the classic style of Anna Wintour, Lady Diana, Olivia Palermo. Oh, and Zendaya! for someone so young she has a great sense of style. We also love Rihanna and Solange who both make risky fashion choices.

What’s your Favorite piece in your closet right now?

Ifeanyichukwu – my Dr Martins are my go-to shoe, they’re not an obvious choice but I love them.

Nkemdilim – Quay Australia sunglasses because they’re a classic aviator shape which is timeless

Uchechukwu – Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Baroque limited edition sunglasses.

Favourite designer African or otherwise?

We Nigerian designers especially Amaka Osakwe (Maki Oh), the way she mixes fabrics and prints is lovely. Frank Oshodi’s classic style is always a winner and a designer we work with a lot on our own designs called Syliva Preby. We also like other designers like DSquare, Balmain, Burberry mixed with high street stores like Primark, ASOS and Forever 21

What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far?

Reaching nearly 3 million views on VEVO with our song “Like” produced by Masterkraft has been pretty rewarding. A lot of artists buy views so it’s a big deal when it happens organically. Also touring Tanzania was amazing. knowing that our music has reached so far and wide is encouraging and lets us know that we’re on the right track.

Is there something you haven’t done in your career yet that you would like to explore? maybe in the larger entertainment industry?

We’d love to get into acting. Nkem actually trained as an actress at school but its something we’d all like to explore.

NCMG Int’l Honours Late Adadevoh, Onosode, As Okei-Odumakin Wins Peace Award

Lagos – The Negotiation and Conflict Management Group (NCMG) International on Wednesday in Lagos bestowed posthumous special recognition awards on both Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh and Mr. Gamaliel Onosode in recognition of their track records of exemplary leadership.

Also at the event which held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Dr. Fatimah Akilu of NEEM Foundation, won the Peace Builder award; Dr. Josephine Okei-Odumakin won the Justice Builder award; Khairatul Saidu won the Youth Innovation For Peace just as Almajiri Child Rights Initiative (ACRI) won the Institutional Peace Builder award respectively.

In her welcome address, Professor Isabella Okagbue, Chairman of NCMG Peace Awards Committee explained that the award was instituted primarily to honour individuals with a track record of exemplary leadership, selfless service and commitment to the overall improvement of humanity.

According to her, awardees in this category are carefully selected for the impact which the awardees’ selflessness and passion have brought towards meaningful change in the larger society.

NCMG explained that the 2018 posthumous Peace Awards to Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh was in recognition of her heroic efforts and unwavering commitment to selfless service to which she paid the ultimate price with her life so that Nigerians and Africans may live.

“She remains an epitome of peace and it is our belief that this award will serve as a symbol of our appreciation for her contribution and service to humanity, the organizers said.

“Late Mr. Gamaliel Oforitsenere Onosode, was chosen and singled out for this honour in recognition of his exemplary life, illustrious career and unfettered commitment in making the society a better place.

“His outstanding character, display of integrity and strong moral convictions left an indelible mark not only in the Nigerian corporate world but among those associated with him irrespective of creed, class or colour, the group said.

NCMG expressed the hope and belief such recognition will serve as motivation for other categories of Nigerians to emulate the exemplary life that the two personalities demonstrated during their lifetime.

Prof Okagbue said, “NCMG International is desirous of seeing a society that is devoid of devastating conflicts and this desire underlines its reverence for peacemakers who have expended so much towards creating lasting peace, either through post-conflict humanitarian actions or activities geared towards preventing the society from degenerating into conflicts.

“The NCMG Peace Awards constitutes this next exciting step in NCMG International‘s belief and commitment to a just and sustainable Africa where the inherent dignity of all members of the human family is acknowledged, human rights are respected, social justice is maintained and all persons are free to develop themselves, lead meaningful lives and actively contribute to their own wellbeing as well as their communities, she added.

Dr. Christopher Kolade, who was the Chairman of the event, in his opening remarks, commended the Founder of NCMG, Mr. Kehinde Aina, for keeping the country alert in conflict management.

He tasked Nigerians to recognize the need for peace to reign in the country even at this period and beyond by shunning conflict in all parts of the country.

The Keynote Speaker, Sentell Barnes, Resident Programme Director, Nigeria, International Republican Institute (IRI) lamented that democracy is still being treated like a foreign concept in Nigeria as it meant different things to different people depending on where their interest lies.

Expressing apprehension about the 2019 elections, Berns said he wished the elections were held and concluded yesterday, saying that to understand the way Nigerians reason is to understand the way people drive in Lagos, especially Abuja.

He tasked politicians in the country to exercise caution in their various approaches to the election issues, saying that there are more to democracy than elections.
