An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Monday, ordered that a 23-year-old man, Israel Adesanya, who pleaded guilty to breaking into a house and stealing biscuits, and recharge cards, be remanded in prison, pending sentencing, NAN reports.
Magistrate T.A. Ojo ordered that Adesanya, who resides at Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos, should be remanded in the Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, pending review of the facts of the case and sentencing, as he pleaded guilty.
Ojo adjourned the case until Sept. 30.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that Adesanya committed the offence on May 20, at No.10 Cosmos Avenue, Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos.
He said that Adesanya scaled the fence and broke into the apartment of Mrs Funmi Ajayi and stole shortbread valued at N5,250, recharge cards of different network valued at N85,000 and N108,000 cash.
Nomayo said that the defendant conducts himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 285 308 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that stealing attracts three years’ imprisonment.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, alleged on Sunday that the Federal Government planned inducing killer doctors to finish Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in India.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ibrahim Musa, spokesman of IMN, said the Islamic cleric did not plan to seek asylum in India, contrary allegation by the government.
He said the allegation was a campaign of calumny against El-Zakzaky by the government to hide its “gross misconduct in a foreign land.
“The Islamic movement further accused the Federal Government of mischievously going beyond its role of supervision to the level of maliciously interfering in the medical process, instructing on which doctors the Sheikh and his wife must see, while refusing to allow them access to their own doctors, which confirms the allegation that the government had wanted to kill the Sheikh in the name of medical treatment,” he said.
“Before efforts at resolving this impasse could be concluded, the Sheikh was brought back to Nigeria, since their evil schemes could not be executed. The government is now churning out contradictory explanations to blame the Sheikh for not allowing himself to be killed in the name of medical treatment. The Nigerian government is also blackmailing the Sheikh that he sought for asylum in India just to cover their own gross misconduct in a foreign land.”
Musa said El-Zakzaky was forced to either accept the choice of being treated by unknown doctors or to be returned home within two hours.
“Being mindful of the government’s various previous plots to eliminate him since 2015, first through the barrels of the gun and much later through poisoning in detention while refusing him access to adequate medical care until the court’s intervention, the Sheikh sensed the government’s intention of inducing killer doctors to finish what they had earlier started, now through the back door,” he said.
“He therefore insisted on having the presence of the doctors that initially assessed him in Nigeria, who also worked in that hospital, failing which, he preferred to return to Nigeria.
“It is rather very shameful and a slap in the face of Nigeria that the government which hitherto claimed it had no hand in the case, now has to resort to lies, calumny and blackmail against a couple whose alleged crime has never ever been proved in any court of the land. All the allegations against this couple have always been merely spurious and unproven, and knowing that they could never prove it in any court they use the might of state power to intimidate and misinform the public.”

Lagos – President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to dismiss the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the February 23 general election on technicalities and evidential grounds.
The prayers formed the gamut of other requests contained in both Buhari and APC final addresses to be adopted on August 23 and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
The respondents had described Abubakar’s address that urged the tribunal to sack Buhari and affirm him (Abubakar) president, as a “wild goose chase prayer”.
They alleged that PDP erroneously allowed a candidate who was not a Nigerian by birth to contest the highest position, adding that such was an adventure that violated the provision of the constitution.
The president and his party, therefore, prayed the tribunal to invoke section 131 (a) of the constitution to dismiss the petition.
They noted that Atiku was born on November 25, 1946 in Jada, a former Adamawa Province of Northern Cameroon before a plebiscite was conducted in 1961 that now made the enclave part of Nigeria.
The parties, therefore, alleged that Abubakar was not qualified to enter the contest as the constitution forbade him from canvassing for votes to become a president.
“We pray that the tribunal will see this constitutional reason and go ahead to uphold the election of the second respondent (Buhari) forthwith’’, they prayed.
On evidence admitted from the petitions, the two respondents said they were empty as none had substantially proven series of the allegations made against the conduct of the election.
They explained that none of the 75 witnesses and 31, 287 exhibits which included 48 video clips had proved any of the petitioners’ allegations.
They said the petitioners had tried to mislead the tribunal and public that results from the election were transmitted electronically to a central server managed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The respondents noted that it was public knowledge that the February 23 general election was conduct with the Electoral Act of 2010 as amended.
“Moreover, the laws in Nigeria do not recognise but actually prohibit transmission of results electronically.
“Sections 52 and 78 of the Electoral Act 2010 have categorically addressed the issue.
“The only means of transmitting election results under the law are through Forms EC8 series. Form EC8A conveys results from polling units.
“It is only through these approved forms that election results can be challenged or proven and not through server, imaginary or real,” they submitted.
The parties, therefore, submitted that the petitioners’ allegation on the use of server by INEC to transmit results was “criminal and misguided’’.
“Atiku Abubakar and the PDP have failed in their attempt to stridently prove their petition.
“The petitioners failed woefully to establish by credible evidence the existence of the imaginary server belonging to INEC,’’ they argued.
They argued that most of the witnesses presented by the petitioners attested to the fact that they signed all the forms that contained the results of the election without coercion.
Buhari and APC, therefore, averred that such testimonies of truth from the petitioners’ witnesses further bestowed legitimacy on the outcome of the election.
On Buhari’s educational qualification, they said that the petitioners failed to adduce credible and reliable evidence to establish that he (Buhari) indeed forged his certificate.
“While it is appropriate to debunk such baseless, mendacious and spurious assertion, it suffices to bring to fore the unequivocal provision of the constitution.
“The constitution is clear on this as it states the requirement for a candidate to contest the presidential election and occupy the office of the president.
“Section 131(d) provided that a person shall be qualified for election into the office of the president if he or she has been educated up to at least school certificate level or its equivalent.
“More so, the consequence of submitting a forged document to INEC is grave.
“It therefore requires precise evidence and proof beyond reasonable doubt, which the petitioners have not been able to establish,” the respondents said.
Drawing reference from the constitution, the respondents defined a secondary school certificate or its equivalent to mean: secondary school certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s certificate.
They listed others to include: City and Guilds certificate or education up to secondary school certificate level or primary six school leaving certificate or its equivalent and service in the public or private sector in the federation in any capacity acceptable to INEC for a minimum of 10 years.
“It is apparent that from the pleadings and evidence adduced led by the petitioners, there is no scintilla or iota of evidence to prove that the president was at the time of the election not qualified.
“It is trite that who asserts must prove, we have clearly seen that the petitioners had failed woefully in this matter.
“In the circumstance, we urge the tribunal to dismiss the petition on the grounds of both technicalities and evidential failure and to affirm the election of the president,” they submitted.
The president, who contested the election on the platform of the APC, was announced winner by INEC having scored a total of 15 million votes as against Abubakar’s 11,262,978 votes.

Nigerians Relying On Judiciary To Return Our Stolen Mandate, PDP Tells Osinbajo
Meanwhile, the PDP on Sunday said Nigerians are anxiously waiting for the judiciary to return its stolen presidential mandate by the ruling APC in the just concluded general elections.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, also described as wishful thinking the statement credited to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that members of the PDP should troop to the APC because “their party will soon die”.
“We are not surprised by the statement credited to Vice President Osinbajo. He is acting true to what APC has been offering Nigerians – doom.
“Professor Osinbajo is very far from reality because he does not understand the drumbeats playing across the nation. Only that can account for his wishful invitation to our party members to decamp to the failed APC.
“Nigerians are looking toward the judiciary to return our party’s stolen presidential mandate in order for the nation to come out of the woods which the APC and Buhari presidency has plunged her.
“We are not surprised because he is acting true to what the APC can offer – doom. He cannot comprehend the drumbeats playing across the nation”.
Osinbajo had asked members of PDP to consider joining the ruling APC before the main opposition party dies.

Abuja – Babatunde Fowler, chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), is in the eye of the storm as he is expected to be at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today to explain why there has been a continuous decrease in tax revenue collection in the last four years.
Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, had in a letter dated August 8, 2019, queried the FIRS chief executive of worsening tax collection since 2015.
The Chief of Staff said that the presidency “observed significant variances between the budgeted collections and actual collections for the period 2015 to 2018.”
Economic analysts have also confirmed that since 2015, the FIRS under Fowler has not been able to meet collection targets “which is a different trend from the preceding years.”
The presidency while expressing concern by the variance, said, ”You are kindly invited to submit a comprehensive variance analysis explaining the reasons for the variances between the budgeted collections and actual collections for each main tax item for each of the years 2015 to 2018.”
In 2015, FIRS set N4.7 trillion target but was only able to make N3.7 trillion in the actual collection.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018, the target collections were N4.2 trillion, N4.8 trillion and N6.7 trillion but the actual collections were N3.3 trillion, N4.0 trillion and N5.3 trillion, respectively.
Fowler, a former chairman of Lagos State Revenue Board, was appointed FIRS boss in 2015, when President Buhari won his first term election.
He succeeded Samuel Odugbesan appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Breakdown of Nigeria’s tax statistics showed that before President Buhari and Fowler came in 2015, the only year FIRS could not meet its collection target was 2006 since the year 2000.
But in the query served Fowler, the presidency only mentioned 2012 to 2014.
“Further we have observed that actual collections for the period between 2015 and 2017 were significantly worse than what was collected between 2012 and 2014,” stated Kyari.

The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, has reversed its forecast of oil market outlook for the rest of 2019, as economic growth slows and highlighted challenges in 2020 as rivals pump more, building a case to keep up an OPEC-led pact to curb supply.
In a monthly report, the OPEC, at the weekend reduced its forecast for global oil demand growth in 2019 by 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.10 million bpd and indicated the market will be in slight surplus in 2020.
The bearish outlook due to slowing economies amid the U.S.-China trade dispute and Brexit could press the case for OPEC and allies including Russia to maintain a policy of cutting output to support prices. Already, a Saudi official has hinted at further steps to support the market.
“While the outlook for market fundamentals seems somewhat bearish for the rest of the year, given softening economic growth, ongoing global trade issues and slowing oil demand growth, it remains critical to closely monitor the supply/demand balance and assist market stability in the months ahead,” OPEC said in the report.
Oil briefly pared an earlier gain after the report was released and was trading below $59 a barrel.
Despite the OPEC-led cut, oil has tumbled from April’s 2019 peak above $75 pressured by trade concerns and an economic slowdown.
The OPEC, Russia and other producers have since Jan. 1 implemented a deal to cut output by 1.2 million bpd. The alliance, known as OPEC+, in July renewed the pact until March 2020 to avoid a build-up of inventories that could hit prices.

Baldock was causing all sorts of problems for Palace down the right. Perhaps watching England manager Gareth Southgate was looking to nip in ahead of Greece, for whom the wing-back is also eligible due to his grandparents.

A South Dakota woman named Dannette who despite having 2 children, never knew she had a baby growing in her; talk more of being pregnant with triplets. She always thought she had a kidney stone and that’s because she had it a long time ago, so she assumed it came back.
She began having severe pain which turned out to be unbearable for her, so she headed to a hospital and requested for a kidney stone surgery, only for her to be informed that she’s pregnant and it was actually with triplets.
Quoting dannette, she said; “I started getting pains, I figured it was kidney stones because I’ve gone through them before,”
Meanwhile, Dannette’s 10-year-old son named Ronnie Giltz had always wished for a baby brother and 2 sisters for his little sister who had always wanted to have a little sister. He was quoted as saying; “One time I have seen a shooting star and I wished for a baby brother, and I wished for like two sisters for my little sister because she always wanted a little sister, I knew this day was always going to come,”
The triplets weighed about 4 pounds and each and were delivered just 4 minutes apart. She gave birth to a boy and 2 girls and named them Blaze, Gypsy, and Nikki.
Quoting her experience while giving birth to the triplets she said; “It was quiet, we thought they were done. He’s over there, kind of like rocking like, thinking of the names and then she’s like well we need another blanket and his reaction is like excuse me, put it back, no, I was told I have twins, I’m not doing triplets. She’s like no, there are three babies in here, and there are triplets,”
She continued; “You don’t ever see triplets being conceived naturally, let alone going 34 weeks without knowing. So, everyone’s like I can’t believe it, I’m like we’re still in shock, trust me, we know what you mean like I go to the doctor’s thinking I’ll have surgery for kidney stones and end up going into labor with a c-section that night. It’s crazy,”

After a heated battle of words, Seyi and Frodd were dared to hug out their differences.
What’s the Pepper Dem House without some fiery arguments over food issues? At this rate, it’s safe to say that they take pride as warriors fighting over anything that concerns food (or in this case, alcohol).
The Rattle
As a reward for impressing Biggie in this week’s Wager Presentation, the Pepper Dem Gang were given a surprise treat of alcoholic beverages. This was what birthed the shades of insults the Housemates hurled at each other.
First, it was a battle between Jackye and Khafi; “Don’t shout at me,” Jackye shouted across the Lounge as she addressed Khafi. According to Khafi, she didn’t quite understand why Jackye was hell-bent on monopolizing Biggie’s gifts – “It’s not for the Cruisetopia team alone, it’s a general gift,” she said.
In Jackye’s defence, she had asked Biggie for a special request of a bottle of wine earlier this week. Upon seeing the bottles of alcoholic beverages in the Store Room, she immediately assumed the drinks were prayers answered from Biggie.
We reckon part of what made her think the drinks were for her group was because they were announced as the winners of this week’s Bet9ja Arena Games. Oh well, a gift from Biggie, is a gift for all, right?
Another Thump
Still on the drinks matter, Frodd and Seyi had a second round of argument over Biggie’s gifts.
Was the reward for the Cruisetopia team or for the whole House? Frodd didn’t care, all he wanted to know was why Seyi’s team members – the Cruisetopia team, took it upon themselves to hoard the drinks in their room.
“You said nobody should take drinks to their rooms but your people are taking the drinks inside,” Frodd screamed at Seyi.
Seyi who was already agitated from losing the Arena Challenge, did not fail to call Frodd’s bluff as he kept asking him, “I’m a big man where I’m coming from, don’t talk to me, do you know my lineage?” To which Frodd responded, “Who cares about your lineage?”
After a series of heated arguments between this pair, the matter died down in the Kitchen but not in the Garden because Frodd took his anger to Ike and Sir Dee, where he aired his fury and irritation.
In his words, he was sure Seyi came back into the House after his fake Eviction with some sort of pride and arrogance which was starting to get to him.
The Dissolving Dare
As usual, the Pepper Dem Gang treated us to a game of “Truth or Dare” and in the process of entertaining themselves with this game, they broke the ice between the warriors – Frodd and Seyi.
Mike being the resident peacemaker, earned the title tonight when he was put in a position to dare Seyi. “I dare you to hug out your differences with Frodd for twenty minutes,” he said.
It was truly a heart-warming moment in the House as the two sheepishly hugged it out. Thanks, Mike!
We enjoy the daily dose of drama the Housemates bring to our screens and we can’t help but wonder how many of these fights will get resolved. Should we expect more reconciliation dares during their game sessions?

The award-winning DJ whose real name is Afagwu Benedict is versed in a variety of sounds – Hip Hop, EDM, rock, classical and Afro beats and he is ever ready to dish it all out on the Big Brother stage tonight. The Rythm 93.7 FM resident DJ will be releasing some banging tunes so the Housemates will forget their Eviction worries on the dance floor.
No doubt about it, DJ Humility’s banging rhythm will hook up the Pepper Dem Gang (and you too) until the end of the Party. Oh, we all should be on the lookout for a fresh round of Enkay and Mercy’s energetic dance moves this time.
More Music Please
After the fun and grinding on Saturday Night, Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Lil Kesh is going to take over the stage at the Live Eviction Show. With his music style and versatility, it’s going to be entertainment at its peak and we are sure pumped up for it.
To ease the tension of the Eviction, the shoki crooner will be on stage to give us some of his hits, back to back. Lyrically, Lil Kesh head dey there and we are waiting for him to spit those lines the way we love.
With the great acts Biggie has lined up for us, this is a fun way to spend the weekend.

Putting up a valiant effort, Team Dano Choco, comprising of Seyi, Venita and Tacha won the Dano Milk Challenge.
Venita impeccable performance during the Dano Jigsaw Puzzle Challenge sealed the victory for Team Dano Choco in the Dano Milk Challenge. The Team which also comprised of Seyi and Esther got the cash prize of 750,000 Naira and a year’s supply of Arla Dano products.
The challenge started with a brief reading in the lounge and required the Housemates to be grouped in teams of three. The teams were Dano Cool Cow, Dano Full Cream, Dano Slim, Dano Choco Dano Strawberry and Dano UHT.
The Jingle
The challenge kicked off with the Dano radio jingle Task. where the Pepper Dem Gang showed off their skills in the Arena. An interesting twist was Biggie stepping down from scoring the Housemates and giving them the chance to score each other. This made the jingle Task a bit tricky as some teams took the scoring personal. This happened when Mercy’s team, Dano Strawberry which included Joe and Diane, scored Omashola’s team zero in response to earning one point from them.
For their stellar performance, the teams scored the Dano Choco team (Mike, Gedoni and Jackye) 20 points. Other teams like Dano Slim ( Enkay, Cindy, Sir Dee) and Dano UHT (Seyi, Venita and Esther) were given 13 and 19 points respectively. Team Dano Full Cream (Omashola, Khafi and Frodd) scored eight making them the bottom-ranked team.
The Trivia Round
This round tested the knowledge of the Pepper Dem Gang about current affairs and other trivia items. The individual teams put up a fair performance although Biggie was worried enough to suggest they might have to have more trivia Tasks in the future. Team Dano Full Cream won this round with nine points but didn’t amass enough points to proceed to the final round. Team Dano Choco, UHT and Cool Cow proceeded to the final round scoring 25, 24 and 21 points respectively.
Fitting the Pieces
The challenge ended with a fun Jigsaw Puzzle. Who knew Venita had a thing for puzzles? Not only did she finish hers in record time, but she also proceeded to help her teammates as they finished in 7 minutes, 15 seconds. Team Dano UHT and Cool Cow couldn’t finish theirs in the allotted time making Team Choco the winner of the Challenge.

Saturday is never complete until the Pepper Dem Gang bring down the roof with the Saturday Night Party. Dressed to slay in their SGTC Clothing, the Pepper Dem Gang stormed the club to party with DJ Humility going hard on the turntables.
The Mirror Clique
If there’s one thing the ladies of the Pepper Dem Gang love at the Saturday Night Parties, it’s watching themselves get down to the music in front of the mirror. The thrill of watching themselves move to the music in both a sensual and electrifying manner gets them grooving nonstop. The usual clique made up of Diane, Mercy and Khafi were as usual, right in front of the mirror dropping it low and jumping up high as DJ Humility filled the room with the sweets sounds of Naija’s chart-topping hits. Cindy and Elozonam were the new recruits to the mirror clique and they proved to us why they deserved to be in front of the mirror with the hippest dance moves.
The Lover’s Dance
Only lovers and lovers in progress got to enjoy the thrill of this dance. Gedoni/Khafi, Mercy/Ike, and Frodd/Esther had the time of their lives dancing with each other. It was a cute sight watching them whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ears as they danced. Elozonam and Diane weren’t exactly lovers, but they did get their groove on like one.
The Lone Vibe
Cindy was a vibe. The party crooner was the life of the party all by herself. Often seen by herself delivering the most energetic dance move, she sure knew how to rock her body all by herself. Every party needs a Cindy. Her party vibes were infectious and you’d never see her at a party dancing and not want to get up and move your body.
The end of the Saturday Night Party comes with a mix of joy and fear. Joy in the fact that the Housemates just shared a special time together and fear that they are now closer to Sunday and that means someone might be going home soon. It’s a mix of joy and fear in the House at the moment. Let’s see how the Pepper Dem Gang hold up.

AWKA – The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that contrary to some reports none of its members was arrested in Ebonyi State.
Comrade Emma Powerful, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, who state this on Saturday, said the purported mass arrest of supposed members of IPOB in Ebonyi State labeled as Biafrans planning an anniversary, was not true.
According to him, IPOB had not been in the habit of celebrating anniversary since it began.
Instead, it continued, “Attempt by Governor Dave Umahi to prove to his Fulani masters that he is anti-Biafra and IPOB has led him to round-up and illegally lock up land owners in Ebonyi State under the pretext of fighting Biafra agitators but of which the true intention is to pave the way for Fulani herdsmen to take over community lands for their RUGA settlement in the state.”
The group denied that its members were arrested, saying, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s leadership worldwide wish to categorically state that those Dave Umahi claim to have arrested in Ebonyi are not IPOB family members because our movement is not in the habit of celebrating any anniversary either in Biafraland or in the diaspora, since the inception of this great movement.
“It came to us as a surprise to hear the media blast about purported arrest of IPOB family members when we had no event in Ebonyi State that would necessitate the gathering of people on a large scale.
“Dave Umahi and his Fulani overlords in the Police and Army in Abakiliki have instead engaged in land grabbing arrest of innocent citizens, especially indigenes of Amasri in Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi State who were merely strategising on how to protect their land from Fulani terror herdsmen.
“By tagging these villagers IPOB, Dave Umahi sought to deflect attention from this dastardly act of illicit land grabbing for RUGA going on in Ebonyi State. IPOB do not host events in the bushes or forests, rather we honour our heroes with a general strike on designated days of the year.”
“This blatant lie and misinformation sold to the media that IPOB members were arrested in Ebonyi is simply a lie designed to mask the horrors of RUGA implementation by stealth going on in Ebonyi State and to deflect attention away from secret ethnic cleansing of villages to pave way for Fulani settlements in Ebonyi,” it added.
