Arguably, android is the most popular and most Used OS right now as it powers more than 70% of smartphones all over the world. Even as an android lover, there are some things you still don’t know about android.
Below are some facts you didn’t know about Android:


1. Android Inc was founded in Palo Alto, California on October 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White all acting as the founding fathers. Its main aim in Rubin’s words was to manufacture “smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner’s location and preferences”
2. Its early intentions was to develop an advanced operating system for digital cameras. As soon as it realized the market wasn’t large enough, it diverted to developing a smartphone OS to rival Symbian and Windows Mobile.
3. Despite the accomplishments of the founding fathers, it was operated secretly.
4. On August 17, 2005, Android Inc. Was acquired by Google paving way for the development of the company while it retained Rubin, Miner, and White after the acquisition.
5. At Google, Rubin led a team which developed a mobile device platform powered by the Linux kernel, mean While Google marketed the platform to handset manufacturers and carriers on the promise of providing a flexible, upgradable system.
6. Speculations as to whether Google was about to step leg in the mobile communications market waters started to gather momentum throughout December 2006.
7. A prototype codenamed “Sooner” which had a striking resemblance to a Blackberry phone but without a touchscreen instead a physical QWERTY keyboard which was at first preferred was later re-engined to a touchscreen to rival the release of LG Prada in 2006 and Apple’s iPhone in 2007.

On November 5, 2007, the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of technology companies including Google, device manufacturers such as HTC, Sony and Samsung, wireless carriers such as Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile, and chipset makers such as Qualcomm and Texas Instruments, unveiled itself, with a goal to develop open standards for mobile devices. That day, Android was unveiled as its first product, a mobile device platform built on the Linux kernel version 2.6.25
9. The first commercially available smartphone running Android was the HTC Dream, released on October 22, 2008.

10. In 2010, Google launched the first of its Nexus series of devices. The series which will produce smartphones and tablets running on Android OS built by its manufacturing partners.
HTC Incorporation with Google released Nexus One, Nexus 5 was a partnership between Google and LG while the Nexus 7 was manufactured by Asus.
Google releases Nexus phones and tablets as its own flagship device to display the latest Android software and hardware features.
