Want To Use WhatsApp on PC? It’s Now Available

WhatsApp is finally and officially available for PCs, before, you can only use WhatsApp on PC using BlueStacks or YouWave which still works fine but not better than the official one.

The new WhatsApp Web service allows you to chat on WhatsApp through your browser, good for those who sit at their PCs all day long or those at the office throughout.

According to WhatsApp on their official blog.

“Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone,”

The WhatsApp Web can only be used on Chrome and Opera at the moment though they claim it only work on chrome but i tested it on opera and it worked. I tried it on Mozilla Firefox and this is what i get.

WhatsApp Web can be used if you are using the WhatsApp App on the following smartphones Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, BlackBerry 10 and Nokia S60 but crucially not Apple’s iOS.

How To Set up WhatsApp To Work on Your PC

Note: You must update your WhatsApp to the latest version before this can be possible.

1. Open Google Chrome or opera in your PC and go to web.whatsapp.com and you will see QR code.

2. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your Smartphone, go to Menu > WhatsApp Web. And scan the QR code on web.whatsapp.com.


3. After scanning the QR code within few seconds you can now use WhatsApp Web on Google Chrome or Opera browser.

Once the QR code is scanned, WhatsApp will show your contact list and your chat messages without anything missing.

Easily type with your keyboard.

You can share and download media files (photos, videos, audio).

Start a new conversation with any contact, or search for existing conversations.

View contact or group info.

Talk in group chats and share media files.

Add multiple PCs to your phone for future use. You can also disconnect them from your phone.

Enable or mute desktop alerts and sounds.

Record audio, or use your webcam.

Disadvantages Of WhatsApp Web

Not supported on iOS platform.

Google Chrome or nothing, all you need is chrome or Opera or forget WhatsApp web.

You can’t create new group chat or leave an existing group chat.

You can’t share contacts or locations from WhatsApp web.

You can’t block users, only on your smartphone.

You can’t change your Display picture or status.

You can add multiple PCs to your phone, but can’t use them at the same time.

You can’t use WhatsApp web if your phone is switched off
