By James Agberebi: Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has sent a congratulatory message to Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala who was crowned 2017 Aiteo CAF Women’s Player of the Year in Accra on Thursday.
Oshoala retained her Africa Player of the Year award, her third title after finishing ahead of Chrestina Kgatlana of South Africa and Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene of Cameroon.
Omeruo took to his Instagram page to express his happiness, however urging her to keep working hard.
“Yesssss you did it again.. congratulations star girl.. you are the best. Always proud of you.. keep your head down still.. More to come,” the Chelsea defender on loan at Turkish club Kasimpasa wrote.
In the men’s category, Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah beat club teammate and Senegal forward Sadio Mane and former winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund to the award.
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr lost out to Egypt’s Argentine coach Hector Cuper in the Coach of the Year category.
