Lent: 3 different types of fasting to try during Holy season

Lent: 3 different types of fasting to try during Holy season

Here are some great ideas to incorporate before the Lenten season runs out.

Lent, which started on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, is still ongoing.

Luckily for us, this means we still have time to figure out and incorporate new things like different ways to fast.

Here are three different types of fasting for the Lenten season.

Partial fast

As the name implies, the person doing this type of fast has to abstain from either one kind of food or various types of foods.

This is based on Daniel 1:12 and Daniel 10:2–3, which says, “At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips, and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”

Sexual fast

This is also self-explanatory. The person basically stays away from all sexual activity. See 1 Corinthians 7:3–6.

Full fast

This is an absolute kind of fasting where all food or water is avoided. This can be found in the Bible when Easter and her fellow Jews did this for three days (See Esther 4:16).

Pulse Religion offers an additional one called social media fast. This is a modern kind of fast, where social media is avoided.

The goal is to spend the time usually used on social media on praying, Bible study and everything that concerns God.

Lent 2018 ends on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
