Attorneys to both movie stars have been in serious negotiations since September 2016, after Jolie filed for divorce, 2 years into their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and “the health of the family” after 12 years of being together.
The former partners’ custody dispute comes down to the fact that Jolie wants sole physical custody of their six kids, ranging in age from 10 to 17 while Brad says he wants to share physical custody.
The trial scheduled for Dec. 4, will likely behind closed doors and not at a public courthouse, according to the wishes of the two estranged couple.
But the couple could still reach an agreement out of court as a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly said both sides “are still working together to find an out-of-court settlement.â€
In California’s public Family Courts, most proceedings are open to the public except certain issues involving children, when the courtroom can be closed.
