After four months of intense activities which started with the call for entries, organisers of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, have released it’s list of nominees for the 2018 edition of the Award.
To reach this final list, a total 112 films including 93 feature films, eight short films and one documentary series were screened with ten others disqualified for various reasons relating to not meeting entry requirement.
Speaking on the growth of the Nigerian film industry in recent times, Mr Niran Adedokun, who put out a statement on behalf of the Screening Committee acknowledges that movie practitioners are doing well to attain international standards and raise the bar of production even though a lot of entries still leave much to be desired.
‘We noticed a slight improvement in the number of films made in other Nigerian languages this year and commend the effort of these producers. BON prides itself as a promoter of the beauty that exists in our diversity, we see films as a veritable way of preserving our culture and appeal to filmmakers to produce more films in local languages and bring them forward for the awards’, the statement read.
The award is in its 10th edition will hold on December 9.
