The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the women who wore black attires were chantting songs and carrying placards with various inscriptions.
Some of the inscriptions read: “say no to rapeâ€, ‘stop gender violation, ‘No rape till death†, ‘speak out not until deathâ€, and ‘ stop discrimination against womenâ€, among others.
Addressing the women, the wife of the state governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi, said the present Govenor has zero tolerance on violence against women.
Mrs Fayemi, who described Ogbajeâ€s like one out of many cases in the country promised the readiness of Dr kayode Fayemi to implement violence against women law in the state.
She advised parents to be observant and listen to their children whenever they report any case to them.
Two women out of protesters, the Executive Director, Gender Relevant Initiatives Programme, Mrs Rita Elebere and NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Fatimoh Bello, said the aim of the protest was to mourn the ogbajes death and to kick against such acts.
