African Countries Set For Leopard Tourney

African stars as well as top lady players have indicated interest in the Leopard Golf and Beauty Pageant tournament scheduled for Lafarge Golf Club Sagamu.

Christy Ka’ase, the Lady Captain of Python International Golf Club, has reiterated her club’s readiness to be part of the golf event as preparations has been stepped up.

She described the Leopard event as a tournament designed to solidify relationships amongst lady golfers within and outside Nigeria, to groom young players and empower women in the golf world.

“Golf is life because it’s full of experiences, expectations, criticism and sometimes disappointments. We play the game because we’ve got passion for it and lot has happened and still happening,” Ka’ase noted.

Of the African countries expected is Team Uganda led by Gloria Nakalembe, which has signified interest in the event teeing off August16-18, 2019.

Other golfers from Uganda are Kityo Sarah Breeze, Bitarabeho Gloria Mbaguta, Asiimwe Evarlyne Buregyeya Sheila Mwine, Kamusiime Caroline and Magala Evah Okatch.

The organising committee has also announced the panel of judges. Among them are Gen M.C Ezeoke (rtd) and former Captain of the Python International Golf Club; Col Ade Sunmonu (rtd), a member of Ikoyi and Dolphin Golf Clubs; Sunmonu is the incumbent Captain of Ibadan Golf Club; Mary Gabriel who is a member of “Hole 19” golfer she has contributed immensely to the growth of golf in areas of support and camaraderies.

Others are Arc Nanwor Mamven a past Lady Captain of The IBB Golf and Country Club; Susan Cole Kotas, First Vice President of Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) and past Lady Captain of several golf clubs.
