Parish Priest of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, New Nyanya, Nasarawa State, Reverend Father Lawrence Soja-Anyembugu, has admonished students to shun drugs and all social vices that would affect their education pursuits.

Soja-Anyembugu gave the advice on Friday during his installation and presentation of certificate as Spiritual Patron of National Association of North Central Students (NANCS) by the association in Karu, Nasarawa state.

The priest urged the students to be good ambassadors of their families and schools by shunning drug abuse, examination malpractice, cultism and other  vices in their interest and for the overall development of the society.

According to him, indulging in drug abuse, examination malpractice and other  vices will adversely affect the education and lives of many Nigerian students and the society.

Soja-Anyembugu also enjoined the students to be serious with their academic pursuit in order to justify their parents and government huge investment in their education.

“I want to thank Almighty God and you for appointing and installing me as your spiritual patron. I am assuring you of my support and prayers to take your association to greater heights.

“My advice to you and other students is to be good ambassadors of your respective schools and to shun social vices in your interest and to move the North central zone and Nigeria to greater height.

“Because no society can achieve meaningful growth without sound education and it is the leeway to success in life and a route to escape from poverty box,” he said.

Soja-Anyembugu also advised the students to remain peaceful and be tolerant of one another considering the importance of peace and tolerance to societal development.

Besides, the clergy urged the students and other Nigerians to be law-abiding and respect constituted authorities for the progress and development of the country.

Earlier, Mr Aji Ibrahim, the National President of the association, said they decided to install Soja-Anyembugu as the Spiritual Patron of the association considering his contributions to the development of education sector and the society at large.
