EDITORIAL: On The Whistle-blowing Policy
As part of its effort to carry Nigerians along in the anti-corruption crusade, the Muhammadu Buhari administration, in February 2017, instituted a whistle-blowing policy. The idea is to encourage anyone with vital information that can possibly expose corrupt practices and, in particular, lead to the recovery of stolen money, to come forward. To make it even more attractive, the government offered five per cent of the recovered money to the whistle-blower.
Before now, they were known as police informants who disclosed information to the security agencies which ultimately led to the resolving of tough security issues. It took a life of its own and an international dimension with the celebrated cases of the American, Edward Snowden, Czech Libor Michalek and Australian Julian Assange of the WikiLeaks fame.
Who is a whistle-blower? He or she is a person who exposes any kind of information or activity that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within an organization that is either private or public. The information of alleged wrongdoing can be classified in many ways: violation of company policy or rules, law, regulation, or threat to public interest or national security, as well as fraud, and corruption. This, in general terms, is the definition of a whistle-blower.
Still further, those who choose to become whistle-blowers can bring information or allegations to surface either internally or externally. Internally, a whistle-blower can bring his or her accusations to the attention of other people within the accused organization such as an immediate supervisor. Externally, a whistle-blower can bring allegations to light by contacting a third party outside of an accused organization such as the media, government, law enforcement, or those who are concerned. Whistle-blowers, however, take the risk of facing stiff reprisal and retaliation from those who are accused or alleged of wrongdoing.
That is why it is often said that to be a whistle-blower takes bravery. A good example of this is Assange who is, today, a wanted fugitive not because the information he revealed was wrong but because he stepped on very sensitive toes some of them powerful countries.
Because of the risk involved, security agencies go out of their way to protect those who give them vital information especially if it leads to a major break. However, legal protection for whistle-blowing varies, from where and how secrets were revealed to how they eventually became published or publicized. In Nigeria, if the information is not accurate or is misleading, the whistle-blower stands the risk of prosecution.
Unfortunately, whistle-blowing can be an instrument of blackmail and witch-hunt. Someone may decide to use it to get back at a stingy relation as was the case of the former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engineer Yakubu. Also, because of the pecuniary benefits attached to it, it is almost becoming an industry in Nigeria with the security agencies themselves doing brisk business with the proceeds. The most notorious case is what has come to be known as Ikoyigate where tens of millions of dollars were stashed away in a private home in Ikoyi, a highbrow residential area of Lagos by a security chief. It was a major break that left not just Nigerians but also the international community aghast at the audacity of corruption in the country. There is another angle to it. The number of whistle-blowers claiming to have been involved in the disclosure is multiplying by the day to include lawyers angling to be part of the case for obvious reasons.
Considering the amount involved, five percent of more than $40 million dollars, a princely sum indeed, even the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) themselves want a piece of the action. The delay in resolving the matter so that the money can be released to the whistle-blowers, in our opinion, is deliberate. They, too, want to be settled. Otherwise, they know who they got the information from the first time. That, in itself, is also corruption that may affect the policy as a whole as people may be unwilling to come forward with information.
Even worse is the situation in which it has become a media event and not many people will buy into the publicity the whole drama is generating. It is supposed to be covert operation. The identity of the persons are not expected to be known. But with lawyers and the media getting involved, the stakes have gone too high for some to include risk to life.
This is where we think the government should talk to the security agencies. This policy is about to go the way of most eloquent policies in the country, messed up by bad implementation processes. If the security agencies want the money, then they can go and be the whistle-blowers themselves. If what they want is information to enable them to do their work diligently, then they should take their eyes off the money. This, in our view, is important if the whistle-blowing policy must stand a chance of succeeding.

CBN Spends N6bn On ABU Business School
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) spent about N6 billion to establish a business school in the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Ibrahim Garba, made this known on Saturday at ABU’s 40th convocation ceremony held at its main campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Mr. Garba said the business school began as a faculty, covering Accounting, Business Administration and Economics Departments.
The vice said that the development gave room for expansion of the departments and introduction of related academic programmes.
He said that the ABU’s Faculty of Medicine had been transformed into ABU College of Health Sciences and headed by a provost.
“The college has taken off with four faculties of Basic Clinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences and Allied Health Sciences.
“Along with this development is the commencement of three new academic programmes beginning from 2017/2018 session.
“These are Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences and B.Sc. Medical Radiography,” he said.
The vice-chancellor said that the university had introduced e-learning methodology in academic delivery to tackle growth in the number of students.
Mr. Garba said the e-learning was in line with developments in pedagogy and technology.
He said that ABU last year introduced four additional courses in its Department of Mechanical Engineering.
He said that the university had continued to improve and expand the existing facilities for teaching and research within the limit of available resources.
Mr. Garba said the university was using Tertiary Education Trust Fund and Presidential Need Assessment Intervention Fund to execute the projects.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, MaikantiKachalla-Baru, said at the occasion that he was impressed by the performance of 50 of the graduating students who had first class degree in different fields.
He announced NNPC’s scholarship up to PhD level for the overall best student with Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.93, Al-Amin Bashir-Bugaje, from Electrical Engineering Department.
“NNPC will sponsor him fully to wherever he wants to study in this world up to PhD. Level,” he said.
Mr. Baru said that NNPC had been at the forefront of fostering education in Nigeria.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the ABU Chancellor, Nnaemeka Achebe, said: “Since my installation as the Chancellor of this university on Nov. 1, 2015, I have found this university to be vibrant and promising.
“It has enormous human and material resources and a number of specialised research institutes, particularly agro-based ones.
“These institutes include the Institute for Agricultural Research, National Animal Production Research Institute and National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services.’’
He said that the institutes had over the years made significant contributions to the agricultural sector of the Nigerian economy.

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, yesterday in Lagos formally welcomed former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, to the party.
Tinubu said that the return of Obanikoro to APC, alongside those who defected with him, would further strengthen the party in the state ahead of the 2019 elections.
Those who defected with Obanikoro, a former PDP governorship candidate in 2007 in Lagos State, include Chief (Mrs.) ModupeSasore, Chief JideDamazio, Alhaji Kola Balogun, MrJideLadeinde, a former Lagos PDP youth leader; Hon Kamal Olorunoje and YinkaBalogun, among others.
Tinubu, who was represented by the leader of APC in the South West, Chief Pius Akinyelure, noted that most of the defectors formerly belonged to the progressives family before they left for PDP.
Speaking after receiving his new party flag at the event that took place at the Campos Square on Lagos Island, Obanikoro equally acknowledged that his defection to APC alongside others was a return to their “natural habitat,” declaring that APC was his home.

Former Abia State governor, Dr Orji Kalu, said yesterday that President MuhammaduBuhari deserves to be given a second tenure in office by the Nigerian electorate.
Kalu, who stated this while fielding questions from journalists at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, said President Buhari is still very popular but needs to consolidate on his achievements so far in office.
He declared that he would support Buhari if he indicates interest to run for a second term even as he ruled out the chances of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) coming back to power in 2019.
He said, “I have said it, times without number, that the president needs to consolidate on his achievements because he is very popular.
“He is still the only person carrying 15 million votes in his back despite his tenure being besieged by illness. So the president genuinely deserves a second tenure.’’
According to him, Buhari was under restraint not to expose the gargantuan corruption that took place at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) adding that if Nigerians knew what happened at NNPC they would not allow any of the looters to run away from the country.
Speaking on the issue of ticket to re-contest election in 2019, he said the president would prefer a situation where other candidates would explore the democratic process to test their popularity.
“Buhari himself is not even looking for automatic ticket. He is a man that is very fair and free in what he does. His feeling is that if any candidate is willing to contest against him, he should come out. So President Buhari is also feeling that an automatic ticket for him is not right,” Kalu said.

Anti-graft War Saves Nigeria N25bn – PMB

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said his government was saving the country a total of about N25 billion monthly through the stoppage of unnecessary allowances for government officials and blockage of other financial leakages in all agencies.
Buhari stated this in Jos at the graduation ceremony of Senior Executive Course 39 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau State.
Represented by Vice President YemiOsinbajo, Buhari said that among the workable measures put in place to tackle corruption and diversion of public funds is the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
He blamed the slow development of the nation and the poverty of millions of Nigerians on corruption and mismanagement of public resources, saying that it was the reason the administration of President MuhammaduBuhari gave priority to the fight against corruption.
Osinbajo listed some of the policies the Buhari administration had taken to revive and put the economy on the path of sustainable growth.
He said: “We must pay attention to what we are seeing today, and some of the shameless noises of those who brought our nation to its knees, many of whom still have looted funds in their possession, trying to rewrite history and hoodwink the populace again. We say never again.
“But with 60 per cent less revenue, we started a series of bailouts for the states, to enable them pay salaries and pensions. With 60 per cent less revenue, we were able to provide about N1.3trillion for capital expenditure, the largest amount for capital in our nation’s history.”
“For the first time in five years we saved $500million and invested another $500million in the Sovereign Wealth Fund. Today our external reserve stands at $35billion, the highest in the past four years.”
According to him, the administration put in place structures that would ensure prudent and transparent management of resources.
He continued: “In July 2015, the president ordered that all MDAs funds should be paid into the Treasury Single Account. This ended years of MDAs keeping secret bank accounts, in some cases putting public funds in fixed deposit for interest far below market rates.”

Album Review: Yung6ix begins to align his universe on "High Star"
“High Star” has enough juice to crack the next level for 6ix.
Yung6ix is the best Nigerian rapper to ever walk these streets and hit these mics. At least that’s how he sees it in his head. If you follow Yung6ix on social media, it’s a lesson in self-confidence. Open his mind, and you will discover he’s the Sango of flows, the Zeus of punch lines, and the Thor of hit records. It can be a beautiful thing to see, but sometimes (I mean many times), it’s maddening when you compare it with his status in the Nigerian music industry.
Everyone knows the rapper from the South is talented. He’s proven himself in that department. No one argues when he makes his claims about personal greatness and the quality of his skill. What ticks people off is that he has never truly come into his own as the pop culture ruler that he thinks he is. No one knows what the problem is. It’s just that it hasn’t happened.
His debut album, 2014’s “6 O’ Clock” is still one of Nigeria’s best rap projects since 2010. And as the years flow by, he has maintained a presence in the music industry, holding on to his relevance just below the surface of the biggest conversations. But he has never led from the front or made a big enough wave to move the scene.
That’s why he is banking so much on his sophomore LP, “High Star.” It’s a statement of intent, of diversity, of growth and all its beautiful friends. Music in Nigeria has cross-pollinated profusely to create a heterogeneous spectrum of sounds. And on this album, he embraces them all, infusing his lyrical dexterity as a constant and unifier. ‘Gbe seyin’ with Niniola is a House record, which can sit comfortably on many platforms. 6ix finds a middle ground, rapping over the looping, dance instrumentals. ‘Beautiful scars’ obey the same formula, but it’s led by a brilliant romantic self-reflection. “They make jokes but my money, I go lie, really wasn’t funny, I live life like a mase…” he raps.
‘Ferragamo’ is his unique take on the dominant ‘Pon pon’ trend of 2017. Life is a vibe, and he enjoys it with the urban way with Davido, on ‘Let me know’.
Yung6ix is at his best on Trap records. He transforms into his truest form, with careerist and materialistic themes blending to produce a heady cocktail. Praiz and M.I are welcomed guests on ‘Grammy money,’ while he cranks up the energy on ‘Stay woke’, the best record on this album. “Always grinding but I stay woke, never sleeping but I stay woke,” the chorus goes, before Dremo, Sean Dennis, Blood Hot, LoolooWithTheJuice, Wale Turner and Baddest DJ Timmy have a party, up in the studio. On this rare occasion, too many cooks sweeten the soup, except for DJ Timmy, who brings nothing of note to the record. ‘No favours’ has Dice Ailes swaggering at his best.
‘You the man’ is an ego-trip, but Ycee’s a drag on ‘Weekend vibes’, but all of that is washed away on the outro, ‘Good times’, which offer perspective on the workings of his mind.
“High Star” has enough juice to crack the next level for 6ix. He’s put together a record of potential radio hits, that offer enough in depth to be the soundtrack of many sombre moments. He’s walking a fine line, balancing sound and substance for effect. And it’s beautiful to experience.

Dokpesi: Media mogul pledges fairness for PDP presidential aspirants
Dokpesi said his visit to Kano was to remind delegates and party executives of his plea for their support for his aspiration, at the Dec. 9 national convention.
Founder of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, says his leadership will provide level-playing ground for all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirants, if elected national chairman of the party.
Dokpesi made the pledge while addressing zonal and state executive committee members and other members of the PDP during his campaign visit to Kano state on Saturday.
He said that he was aware that the goal of PDP was to win presidency in 2019, and assured that as national chairman of the party, he would not allow manipulation of the process.
“I am very conscious of the fact that our illustrious sons from Kano are looking forward to contesting for the presidency in the 2019 elections.
“First of all, we must have a party and the first step is to create a National Working Committee that I can work along with to ensure that there is justice, fairness and equity.
“I want to pledge firmly that there shall be a level-playing ground for all the presidential aspirants from the 19 northern states willing to vie for the office of the president.
“We shall not manipulate any regulation. We will be transparent, and whoever God has chosen may He allow him to lead us to victory in 2019.
“So, our choice of presidential candidate in 2019 will not be on the basis of wealth or accumulated money, but the human person that he is.
“I want to plead with you that it is the same criteria that we will use for the election of the chairman, we must use for the election of the president,” he said.
Dokpesi said his visit to Kano was to remind them of his plea for their support for his aspiration, for the state’s executive of the party and delegates to the Dec. 9 national convention to vote for him.
He urged the delegates to vote on merit, not on sentiment.
“I want to appeal to you to look at and chose anyone who you believe is ready to sacrifice for the party.
“Vote for anyone you know has been consistent with this party when it was raining and when we needed umbrella over our head.
“I want you to look at all the candidates and ask yourselves who among these candidates has been a bridge-builder and helped to reunite Nigeria. I am interested in Nigeria unity,” Dokpesi said.
He advised PDP members not to allow themselves to be used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) or any PDP member to destroy the party, especially those planning to hold parallel convention.
In his reaction, Mr Jinjiri Dutse, Zonal Auditor, who represented the National Deputy Chairman (North-West), said that the zone was preparing for the December convention.
He expressed Kano state’s support for Dokpesi, adding that the state would also canvas for votes from other states
in the Zone for Dokpesi.
Sen. Baraka Sani, who is vying for National Women Leader, said that Dokpesi had shown verifiable support to the party in many ways, at different times.
“This is what is expected from leaders. Tell us what we can verify, not to tell us something in the air. Let us see it, something we can touch or feel.”

Lionel Messi on Saturday finally put pen to paper on a contract extension keeping him at Barcelona until 2021, the club announced, making official an agreement reached in July.
The Spanish giants had announced in the summer that Messi had committed his future to the club but the Argentine had not signed the new deal, with his existing contract set to expire in 2018.
“FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi signed on Saturday morning a new contract that will keep the Argentinian superstar at the club through the 2020/21 season,” read a club statement. “The buyout clause was set at 700 million euros ($835 million).”

Burna Boy: Singer not avoiding the police according to rep
Singer is busy preparing for some upcoming performances and will make himself available to the police, his rep revealed.
Burna Boy who has been linked in an investigation being conducted by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) concerning the robbery of Mr. 2kay is not on the run from law enforcement officers, his rep has revealed.
The latter spoke to Punch News stating that the dancehall sensation is currently focused on his music. The ember months are times when a demand for musicians go on an increase and that has been occupying him according to the source who disclosed this on a condition of anonymity.
His father had earlier represented him after he was summoned by the police but the force has insisted that he makes an appearance based on comments provided by his team member who maintained that the singer is not guilty of any wrongdoing.
"Burna Boy is neither on the run nor avoiding the police; he is not guilty. I cannot tell you his exact whereabouts but he is in the country recording.
"Also, you should know that as the festive season approaches, demand for his services would be on the increase, so he is preparing for appearances as well.
"Initially, when he was invited, he could not go to the station because of his engagements, so his father went to the police station in his stead. But now that the police have insisted that they want to see him personally, he would surely honour their invitation.
"He is not guilty of the charges leveled against him," the source told Punch.

Four suspects, Balogun Ademola, Obina Igwe, Tunmise Omotore and Joel Kantiok have been arrested in connection with the robbery of Mr. 2kay. They reportedly got the orders to carry out the act from Burna Boy according to a Punch News report.
The incident took place after the victim ended his performance at 2face Idibia’s "Buckwyld N Breathless" concert held on Saturday, October 22, 2017, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

A Zimbabwe High Court has ruled that the military takeover that led to Robert Mugabe’s ousting was legal, raising immediate concerns about judicial independence under the country’s new administration.
Army chiefs put military vehicles on the streets of Harare and placed veteran leader Mugabe, 93, under house arrest, before he resigned on Tuesday.
Many Zimbabweans celebrated the end of Mugabe’s 37-year rule, but fear the new government under President Emmerson Mnangagwa could also be an authoritarian regime.
“Actions by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to stop the usurping of power by those close to former president Robert Mugabe are constitutional,” state-run ZBC media on Saturday reported the court as saying.
In an apparent reference to Mugabe’s wife Grace and her supporters, it said the court ruled Friday that the takeover was “to ensure the non-elected individuals do not exercise powers that can only be exercised by (those) elected”.
Grace was alleged to have positioned herself to be Mugabe’s chosen successor, prompting the military to intervene and usher in their preferred candidate Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa was sworn in on Friday, vowing sweeping changes and moves to attract foreign investment to revive the moribund economy.
He also used his inauguration speech to pay tribute to the increasingly frail Mugabe, describing him as one of the “founding fathers of our nation”.
‘Dangerous precedent’?
“The court has endorsed the military’s interpretation that it is permissible and lawful for it to intervene in the affairs of the executive,” Zimbabwean legal expert Alex Magaisa wrote Saturday.
“This is a dangerous precedent which places the government at risk from the power wielded by the military.”
Alongside another court ruling that Mugabe’s earlier sacking of Mnangagwa as vice president was illegal, Human Rights Watch questioned the courts’ independence.
“Two incredible judgements,” Dewa Mavhinga, southern African director of HRW, wrote on Twitter. “Strange, captured judiciary?”
Mnangagwa, until recently one of Mugabe’s closest allies, took the oath of office at the national sports stadium on the outskirts of Harare before thousands of cheering supporters, dignitaries and foreign diplomats.
The army has warned that criminals have been impersonating soldiers during the political turmoil to extort money from the public and it called on Zimbabweans to obey the law.
Mugabe had ruled since Zimbabwean independence in 1980, exercising almost total authority to crush any sign of dissent and rig elections.
His iron grip on power ended on Tuesday when his resignation letter was delivered to a special parliamentary session where previously-loyal lawmakers had convened to impeach him.

Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City will avoid the complacency that cost Manchester United dear when he takes his Premier League leaders to visit David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
City head to the John Smith’s Stadium looking to avoid the same fate that befell Jose Mourinho when his United team suffered a shock 2-1 defeat there last month.
City manager Guardiola respects the threat posed by Wagner’s Premier League new boys, having drawn there 0-0 in the FA Cup last season before comfortably winning the replay at the Etihad Stadium.
Mourinho criticised his players for being complacent in their loss against Town and Guardiola has backed his side not to fall into the same trap.
“Complacency will not happen,” Guardiola promised.
“We played last season against them, we were not able to win there in the FA Cup and it’s complicated there.
“What Wagner has done speaks for itself, in the Championship, the Premier League and since.
“The result against United was a good signal but not just that one. At home, they’ve had good results,” the Spaniard added. “They are well-organised, intense, when they defend so well organised, and with quality.
“I think all the teams want to win their own (home) games. Huddersfield is complicated, but it is not the first time we have been there.”
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss insisted: “We know exactly what will happen. There will be a big atmosphere, but it’s the same as when we went to Brighton. People said it’s not easy but it’s normal that it’s difficult.”
City take an astonishing record on the short trip to Yorkshire, having won 18 and drawn one of their 19 league and cup games so far this season.
They will, however, be without long-term injury victim John Stones but Vincent Kompany is available having come through the win at Leicester last weekend.
– ‘Impossible happens’ –
Huddersfield will be eager for some home comfort after suffering a 4-0 defeat at Bournemouth last Saturday.
Wagner’s side badly missed the influence of Christopher Schindler at centre-back, but the defender will be available again after completing a one-match ban.
Huddersfield have an excellent home record –- only Tottenham Hotspur have beaten them at the John Smith’s so far this season –- but Wagner has played down the possibility of completing a ‘Manchester double’.
“I think the circumstances (for a win) do not look that realistic,” he said. “But everybody knows that in football, sometimes the impossible happens.
“I think everybody knows that Manchester City, at the minute, are the best team in the Premier League and this means probably one of the best teams in Europe, and the world,” the German added.
Wagner suggested each of his players will have to perform beyond their usual limits if they are to stand any chance of causing what would surely be the biggest upset of the Premier League season to date.
“Every one of us has a personal borderline,” he explained. “We have to change our borderline on Sunday to be successful.”

PDP Chairmanship: Dokpesi promises people-oriented party
Dokpesi said he would adopt practical measures to encourage growth of democratic culture to stimulate internal democracy in the party.
Media mogul, Raymond Dokpesi, on Saturday, promised to build people-oriented party if elected chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dokpesi made the declaration at a meeting with Borno members of the party and other stakeholders in Maiduguri.
He said he would adopt practical measures to encourage growth of democratic culture to stimulate internal democracy in the party.
The chairmanship aspirant said he would introduce people-oriented policies and provide level playing ground for members to contribute to rapid transformation of the party.
He, however, added that “we need a new face to pilot the affairs of the party. PDP is a party for all; we respect peoples’ wishes and aspirations.
“I am going to develop a new manifesto for the party to enable it to reclaim the presidency in 2019.
“Northeast region will play prominent role in the new PDP, and I will accord special attention to address insurgency, social and economic problems in the region.
“We ask forgiveness from the people of Borno.”
Dokpesi explained that such measures were imperative to move the party forward, noting that PDP lost election in 2015 due to the insurgency in the North-East.
He urged delegates to vote for credible candidates who have the expertise to add value to the party.
Mr Abba Bunu, a delegate, promised to vote for Dokpesi “in view of his programmes, aimed at repositioning the party.”
Dokpesi is contesting the election alongside seven other candidates.
Election for the PDP chairmanship position is billed for Dec. 9.

Mass Exodus Hit FC Ifeanyiubah As Players, Management Row Over Unpaid Five-Month Salaries
By Adeboye Amosu: FC Ifeanyiubah are facing a major crisis following the exit of some of their key players over pay dispute, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Players of the Anambra Warriors are yet to receive their monthly stipends of five months and have been engaged in bitter row with the management of the club over the issue.
Already, some of the key members of the Nnewi side have dumped the club for a move elsewhere.
Key stars like King Osanga and Prince Aggreh have joined NPFL rivals Plateau United and Rivers United respectively, while goalkeeper Uche Okafor has pitched tent with newly promoted club, Yobe Desert Stars.
The likes of Jimoh Oni, Micheal Egbeta and Adeleye Olamilekan Aniyikaiye are also said to be on their way out of the club.
The future of Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and top scorer Godwin Obaje who are yet to resume for pre-season camping is also doubtful.
One of the players informed Completesportsnigeria.com that the players are particularly dejected that the club has not made any attempt to resolve the issue despite constant plea from them.
“I don’t understand why they will want us to continue playing for the club when they don’t want to pay us our money,” the player who pleaded anonymity told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Some of us have families at home that we need to take care of and it is impossible for us to continue training and playing with empty stomach.
“It is not good when the owner of the club is busy with politics and not interested in the plight of the players he employed who fought hard for the club.”
FC Ifeanyiubah finished in a disappointing ninth position in the NPFL last season and also surrendered their Aiteo Federation Cup title, losing out in the semi-final.

Ozil fitness heartens Wenger ahead of Burnley clash

Arsene Wenger believes Mesut Ozil’s recent resurgence is down to the Arsenal playmaker’s improved fitness levels.
Ozil was outstanding in last weekend’s north London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur and will again play a key role as Wenger’s side attempt to build on that win when they travel to face Burnley on Sunday.
The Germany international, who is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and could open negotiations about a move away in January, came in for heavy criticism during the Gunners’ stuttering start to the campaign.
But his improved recent form has demonstrated the player’s quality and Wenger attributes this to Ozil’s efforts on the training ground.
“Mesut has worked hard and he is extremely fit at the moment as well, and that is why you see him sharp,”the Arsenal manager told the club’s official website.
“The quality of his technical aspect is always there but he has added a more determined attitude and that is what you want from him.”
Veteran French boss Wenger added: “Football today is very demanding in the mental and physical aspects and Mesut is in much better physical shape than he was before.
“Every player wants to be a star and when they don’t manage to do it they are really disappointed but the best way to achieve it is to work hard and show the quality of performance that people expect from you.”
– ‘Killing instinct of a snake’ –
Last weekend’s win left Arsenal in sixth place, a point behind fourth-placed Tottenham with goal difference alone keeping the Gunners above Burnley.
Wenger has been impressed by Sean Dyche’s side this season and is well aware of the test that lies ahead for his team.
“They are the surprise package because before the season if you asked 100 people if Burnley would have 22 points at this stage of the season, 90 would have said no — and the 10 others would have been Burnley supporters,” he said.
“They have won games with 25 percent or 30 percent possession, that means they are calm, they know what to do and they are patient with that killing instinct of a snake,” Wenger added. They put you to their face and then they bite you.”
Wenger will restore his first choice line-up after making wholesale changes for the midweek Europa League defeat at FC Koln which did not prevent Arsenal from continuing in the competition as group winners.
Danny Welbeck will return to the bench after a 45-minute appearance against the German side but Theo Walcott is out because of illness, while Santi Cazorla remains a long-term absentee.
Burnley are boosted by the return of top goalscorer Chris Wood for their clash with Arsenal after the striker missed last week’s victory over Swansea City.
Wood returned late from New Zealand international duty with a minor hamstring problem ahead of the win over the Swans, but has since got through a full week of training.
Burnley manager Dyche has no fresh injury concerns, although England goalkeeper Tom Heaton is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder.
Dean Marney (knee ligament) and Jonathan Walters (knee) have both returned to training but are not ready to be brought back into the matchday squad.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, Clarets boss Dyche said: “When you come across these clubs, it’s a case of how you are performing against some of the most powerful teams — not just the score, but the actual performance level.
“Playing against these big teams is a measurement of where we are in relation to them.”

A study carried out by a British research company found that guys are much more likely to want to partner up than women.
Being single can be a drag, but according to a new study by the British research firm Mintel, some of us are better at it than others.
The survey found that 61 percent of single women reported they were content on their own. Men, on the other hand, weren't so comfortable—only 49 percent said they were content without a mate.
The study also found that guys are much more likely to want to partner up than women; 75 percent of women said they hadn't actively pursued finding a partner in the past year, compared to 65 percent of men who said the same.
Anyone who's been through a bad breakup knows the struggle of being single again. Your whole life has changed and it can be tricky to adjust, especially when it feels like your ex is doing just fine.
Part of the problem may be that men face far more social pressure to repress their feelings and not talk about them with their peers. But talking through things with your friends can help, and it's something that women do better than men, according to Jack Duckett, a Senior Consumer Lifestyles Analyst at Mintel. Women are "typically better at creating support groups with whom they can discuss their thoughts and feelings, putting less pressure on the need for a relationship," he told Moneyish.
Men, on the other hand, have a harder time opening up—and without a partner to confide in, they could feel especially uncomfortable.
"[With] many men still largely finding it difficult to be open about their thoughts and feelings, the absence of a partner could mean that they have no one they can talk with about issues affecting them,” Duckett told Moneyish. "With this in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising that unattached males struggle to enjoy their single status."
In a blog post about the survey, Duckett also noted that many men and women are now pursuing a way of life that isn't conducive to a relationship.
“It is easy to assume that all singletons are actively looking for a partner; however, our data shows that this is far from always being the case," Duckett wrote. "Much of this reluctance to look for a partner can be attributed to the young increasingly prioritizing their education, careers and financial stability over being in relationships.”
