Jos – Jos has been designated as a commercial hub of leather processing and production in Nigeria following the commissioning  of Jos hide and skin entrepreneurship complex by the Nigerian Institute for Science and Technology.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony at the weekend , House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Science and Technology, Beni Lar said with the commissioning of Jos extension complex of hide and skin entrepreneurship centre , Jos will soon out grow  Kano in leather production in Nigeria.
Hon Lar said youths in Plateau state would no longer be idling away any more as they have a lot skills acquisition at the center that would keep them busy.
According to her, Nigerians no longer rely on imported products of hides and skin, but improve on our indigenous technology using our own materials that we were blessed with to produce goods and services that would boost the countryâ€s economy .
“Nigeria is blessed with all sorts of animals such as cows, sheep ,reptiles that their skins could be processed into leather production and it is as a result of this that she decided to take the advantage of the twenty five billion naira leather industry which Nigeria industry is currently worth in Nigeria to position Jos the Plateau state capital as one of the commercial hub centers for leather processing and production.
