Jos – Dr Kenneth Egwuda Consultant Gynecologist and IVF specialist of ALPS Hospitals Jos, has implored Nigerian couples to see the introduction of IVF as a move by God trying to help man through the advent of science.
Dr Egwuda, in an interview with Daily Independent, stated that for the fact that fertilization is done outside the body of the woman doesnâ€
t mean that the eggs are created by doctors, but are taken out of the womanâ€s ovary and the manâ€s sperm.
According to him, it is not necessarily the couple must have a meeting point before pregnancy occurs,arguing that the point can be created outside the body as an alternative to direct meeting between man and woman.
He explained that after the fertilization of the egg of a woman, the baby is developed inside womb of the mother and delivered by the mother after staying for the length of conventional period the baby ought to stay in the womb of the mother before delivery.
He advised couples in the north to embrace IVF technology to make their family a good place to be
Dr Egwuda said there are so many factors that could hinder a woman from becoming pregnant through conventional process of meeting with a man such as old age,adding that low sperm count or no sperm at all in a Man and when a tube in a woman is blocked due to certain conditions.
