In a bid to support human development and alleviate poverty in the country, Onyemaechi foundation, a non-governmental organisation has given a scholarship award to Miss Nkemjika Nwankwo, a primary one student of Model Innovative School, for distinguishing herself academically from her classmates.
‘Onyemaechi Hope for the hopeless Foundation’ was established as a non-profit and charitable organisation by Mr. Onyemaechi Okenwa Kennedy, the Executive Director of the foundation in order to assist people who cannot afford to train themselves and achieve their desired goals.
Little Nkemjika who bagged a scholarship award at Model Innovative School of Today Obosi, had her mother, Mrs. Ebele Nwankwo, in the same school as a teacher.
Report has it that the beneficiary of this glorious scholarship hails from Umuchukwu Orumba South Local Government of Anambra State.
Presenting the scholarship award cheque, the Coordinator of the Foundation, Mr. Okenwa Kennedy Onyema opined “My vision for this foundation is to provide help and succor to the less privilege, especially the widows, indigent youths and vulnerable children in the society”.
Speaking further he said “I call on other foundations to have their values as Onyemaechi Hope for the Helpless Foundation which include; love, compassion, partnership, teamwork, integrity and accountability in order to help our country, Nigeria.
“Onyemaechi Foundation has a highly inspirational programme that brings out the usefulness in human beings”, he said.
In her own address, Mrs. Nwafor Fidelia, the Headmistress of Model Innovative School of Today Obosi, who represented Dr. and Mrs. Obi Okoye, the Proprietor of the school lauded Onyemaechi Foundation for his kind gesture and zeal to change the life styles of individuals who cannot afford to help themselves.
In her words “Onyemaechi Foundation is geared towards inculcating into the poor youths, poor children and poor widows a complete knowledge and skills that will enable them to discover and utilize their God-given potential and appreciate the fact that God is an indispensable factor in our success formula”, she said.
Similarly, Mrs. Ebere Nwankwo thanked Onyemaechi Hope for the Helpless for remembering her family and urged governments and individuals in union with Chief Benedict. C. Adamaechi, retired Educationist to collaborate with the foundation to ensure that poverty is reduced if not eradicated from the country. They equally subscribed to what they call ‘3H approach’, meaning Head, Heart and Hands in order to equip and operationalize guidance and counseling in schools and ensure that from early in the pupils/students lives they are well guided on career paths.
