Nigerians react to new Ooni of Ife's Olori switching from evangelist to marching blood

Some Nigerians are bothered how the marriage between the Ooni of Ife and a former evangelist will work. They are also concerned about the impact of the union on her faith. Can she still be a Christian?

The Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Ife now has a new queen named Shilekunola Moronke Oluwaseyi Naomi.

Before moving to the palace on Saturday, October 20, 2018, she is believed to have stepped on blood as part of  the ritual required to become an Olori to the Ooni of Ife, the supreme monarch Oba Ogunwusi Adeyeye.

Before becoming the wife of the revered king, Naomi was reportedly an evangelist.

Some clips of her overseeing the deliverance congregants at a crusade has surfaced on social media and has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians who are concerned about the impact her new status could have on Christians.

A video of the Olori shows her laying hands on a woman who seemed to be troubled by a spirit. Some assistants work together to ensure that she is still while the former prophetess delivers her.

In more comments on social media many have found it difficult to manage the conflict between the characters of the queen.

The Olori did not step on blood though. Did she?

A Twitter profile Bimbo Adeola felt a need to educate those in doubt about the meaning of the ritual requiring the Olori to walk on "blood".

It is probably "camwood" mixed with liquid what some Nigerian have identified to be an animal's blood.

Adeola got into a conversation with doubters and also schooled them about why the palace guests had to be fed after attending the traditional wedding ceremony of the king and his third wife.
