Inter Milan Want Sanchez Deal

Inter Milan have registered their interest in Alexis Sanchez with Manchester United, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Serie A side, who have already signed Romelu Lukaku from Old Trafford this summer, are hoping to negotiate a loan deal for the Chile international before the Italian transfer deadline on Aug. 23.

Sanchez is open to talking to Inter if the two clubs can agree a deal, with the forward having fallen down the pecking order at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Inter are hoping to reach an agreement that would see United pay a portion of Sanchez’s wages this season before buying him next summer, but sources have told ESPN FC that an agreement has not yet been reached.

Solskjaer said on Friday that Sanchez, 30, is nearing full fitness after returning to training following a hamstring injury, and the Norwegian also suggested that the former Arsenal man could play a key role for United this season.

But according to ESPN FC’s sources, the manager is open to letting Sanchez leave despite already seeing his attacking options reduced by Lukaku’s departure.

Sanchez still has three years left on the deal that he signed after arriving from Arsenal in January 2018. He has made 45 appearances for United, but has scored just three Premier League goals and has not completed 90 minutes in a United shirt since August 2018.

Solskjaer Rates Greenwood High

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed Mason Greenwood as the best finisher at Manchester United, ahead of both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Greenwood is yet to score a competitive goal for United, but Solskjaer said he has seen enough during preseason and in training to believe that the 17-year-old is the best natural goalscorer at Old Trafford.

Asked whether Rashford or Martial is the most natural finisher in the squad, Solskjaer said: “They’ve still got a way to go, because Mason’s more of a natural finisher than them.”

Greenwood has been earmarked for a key role this season, following the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international’s move to Inter Milan has also placed an extra goal-scoring burden on Rashford and Martial, and Solskjaer has told the pair the way to do it is by getting more “easy” goals.

Gov. Fayemi Bans Use Of English Language During Traditional Events

Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has banned the use of English language as a means of communication during any traditional events in any part of the state.

The governor, who gave the directive on Monday in Ado-Ekiti during the First Ekiti State Arts and Culture Stakeholders’ Forum, said it has now become an offence for anyone to communicate in English Language during traditional events.

Fayemi said his administration was desirous to promote arts and culture in the state through Yoruba and Ekiti dialect, saying this will make the step imperative at this point in time.

Fayemi, who was represented at the event by the Head of Service, Mr. Deji Ajayi, revealed that the state will hold its Festival of Arts and Culture in December as part of the ways to boost its economy.

The governor added that there were empirical statistics and evidence to prove that there was need for the state to enhance the skills and capacities of the youths, since government alone can not solve the issue of endemic unemployment in the system.

“From today, henceforth, the government has banned the speaking of English in any cultural programme. Whoever that will participate in any traditional programme must speak Yoruba or our dialect.

“In the primary school teachers’ recruitment exercise we advertised recently, we wanted to employ 1,100 teachers and over 19,000 had applied on our website. This shows that government must develop the skills and capacities of our youths to be able to be on their own.

“We are going to organise Ekiti State Festival of Arts and Culture in December this year to enhance our capacities in crafts, dancing, weaving and other vocational areas of arts.

“We should not forget to teach our children those values that will make Ekiti to remember their heritage and sustain our culture as people”.

Fayemi said that government will build a new traditional rulers’ Secretariat for monarchs in the state to make them more active and functional.

The Wife of the Governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi, urged scholars in the field of history and theatre arts, who are indigenes of the state to document Ekiti heritage to preserve it for future references.

The Director General of the Ekiti State Arts and Culture, Mr. Wale Ojo- Lanre, assured the people that government was committed to the promotion of all cultural festivals in the state to enhance productivity and for economic gains.

Ojo-Lanre also called for support for the ailing Ekiti born theatre artist, Chief Ojo Arowosafe, popular known as Fadeyi Oloro and others, who are currently being afflicted by certain sicknesses for the sake of posterity.

“The governor has directed us to relocate Chief Arowosafe to Ekiti for him to get better medical treatment and for reunion with his family.

“We are also going to partner Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) And National Council for Arts and Culture and other national and international bodies to promote our arts and culture in Ekiti.

“Some of them will be enlisted as national festivals, while we are also going to talk to some creative arts entrepreneurs like Chief Ade Ajayi, owner of little by little photos and other well established artistes of Ekiti origin to mentor our upcoming stars.

“All these Gov. Kayode Fayemi is ready to do to promote our arts and culture industry and make it a force that can generate revenues for individuals and the state,” he said.

Attempted Murder: Man Faults DPP’s Advice For Trial, Claims Wife Is An Aggressor

LAGOS – A 45- year -old man, Godwin Nwobike has faulted the advice issued against him by the Office Of Directorate of Public Prosecution, Lagos in connection with the rift between him and his wife, Stella.

The estranged husband, Nwobike said he feels dejected and harassed by the institution meant to protect him as he is of the opinion that justice is eluding him in this matter, following the Advice dated January 23, 2019 reference number LJP/HOM 2019 / 143/16 addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yaba Lagos among other things recommended him for attempted murder trial.

This Advice is sequel to the request from the Police dated September 13, 2018 with Ref number CB; 3514/LSX/D4/ VOL; 10/86.

The summary of the Advice is a charge of attempt to murder his Wife, Stella Nwobike. But Godwin felt let down as he claimed the basis of the Advice was at variance to what really transpired between him and his wife.

Counsel to the aggrieved husband, Mr. Shaw Jason has however written a petition to the DPP seeking a review of the Advice.

According to him, the basis for the DPP’S Advice suggested a lopsided evaluation of the facts.

He stated that the evaluation of the facts, as stated in the DPP advice relied solely on three statements viz :The story of Stella Nwobike, The story of Chioma Iwu ( sister to Stella) and the story of the 10- year- old daughter of the Nwobike’s not taken independently by the police but in the presence of an interested party the brother to Stella many days after the incident had occurred.

He claimed that, this stand consequently ruled out the evidence of other witnesses to the case who saw the said Stella Nwobike and Chioma Iwu boasting that they will kill the said Mr Nwobike if he returns to the house while he was still in the pool of blood.

He referred to the statement of Stella Nwobike (one of the suspects now turned complainant by the automatic authority of the DPP) dated July 28, 2018 at Ogombo police station where she claimed that her husband collected her phone from the side of the bed where she was sitting and in a struggle to recover the phone from him he used something like touch light on her body and she started feeling cool inside of her and passed out immediately.

In another breadth on July 30 2018, the same complainant claimed the husband attempted to use a pillow to suffocate her, she claimed she was rescued when her daughter’s scream attracted the attention of her sister and neighbors who resuscitated her. But a report from Budo hospital in Ajah was on the contrary, she was certified fit upon medical examination. This is the report the Police Officer Inspector Akande Suleiman gave pursuant to his investigation and arrest of the said Nwobike Stella from Budo hospital.

The Lawyer further claimed that the legal advice did not provide any basis for naming his Client, Nwobike Godwin as accused person’

He also wondered why the complainant’s sister was not charged for attempted murder despite the severe injuries by stabbing with broken bottle she inflicted on Mr. Nwobike and the medical report which revealed that Mr. Nwobike Godwin arrived unconscious and on examination he was pale, covered in blood and unresponsive.

The injuries was contained in a medical report from Budo hospital, Ajah. Which showed that he was stabbed over eight times in multiple places some extending as much as 8cm -12 cm long and deep.

He said, in the matter with Charge number A/ 270/2018, the Commissioner of Police vs Chioma Iwu was filed before a Yaba Magistrate Court presided by Magistrate P.A Ojo and the recommendation of the Legal advice which tallied with the charge of the police never took account of the medical report from Budo Hospital suggestive of fears that the DPP and the Police may have been compromised.

Seven Arraigned Over Alleged N11.5m Cooking Gas Theft

IBADAN – The Oyo state police command on friday arraigned seven persons before an Ibadan Chief Magistrate court for allegedly stealing 72 metric tonnes of cooking gas worth over N11.5million, belonging to Gasland Nigeria Limited, Oluyole Outlet, Ibadan.

The suspects in the matter are: Adio Gbadebo, 48, Oluwadamilare Oguntoyinbo, 29 (security guards); Akintola Oluwole, 35 (staff); and one Ramoni Waheed Olawale, 28, who was said had his industrial training with the company.

Others,Ewenla Rotimi, 33, Olaniyan Olatubosun, 28 and Olaleye Bolaji, 30, were said to be the suspected buyers of the stolen Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) between 2017 and 2019.

The suspects were reportedly arrested after one of them confessed to a supervisor in the company on how they had been stealing cooking gas from the outlet at Oluyole, Ibadan, after official working hours.

Daily Independent gathered that the person made the confession after he was transferred to another outlet, and he felt cheated that the group was no longer giving him a share in the money they were making from the illegal deal.

The group members were said to have claimed that he could no longer partake in the proceeds because he had been transferred to another outlet.

This however, informed his decision to let the cat out of the bag. The former intern in the company was accused of coming back at night to participate in the stealing, though he had completed his internship.

Owners of the company reportedly thought the tanks in the outlet were leaking when shortages were discovered after selling truck-loads of cooking gas to people. Various experts from different places, including Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), were invited to assess the gas tanks at the outlet, but no leakage was found.

The seven suspects were arraigned before a chief magistrate court presided over by Mrs. Olubisi Ogunkanmi at Iyaganku, Ibadan on Friday.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Ogunkanmi, however, admitted each of the suspects to bail in the sum of N1million and two sureties with certain conditions the sureties must fulfil. She adjourned the case to October 28, 2018 for mention.

The prosecuting police officer, Mrs. Bola Olorukooba, had preferred a three-count charge against the suspects. The first count stated that the seven accused persons conspired with one another to steal and receive the alleged stolen property and thereby committed an offence.

The second count stated that Akintola Oluwole, Ramoni Olawale, Adio Gbadebo and Oluwadamilare Oguntoyinbo on the same fate and place, “being staff of the aforementioned company did steal Liquefied Cooking Gas valued N11,530.00, property of one Oguntodu Ezekiel of Gasland Nigeria Limited

Ojo adjourned the case until Sept. 30.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that Adesanya committed the offence on May 20, at No.10 Cosmos Avenue, Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos.
