For Couples: 5 reasons why you are always at loggerheads with your partner

If you have always wondered why you and your partner are always at loggerheads and you two are always bickering then you should pay attention to this article.

If you have always wondered why you and your partner are always at loggerheads and you two are always bickering then you should pay attention to this article.

Here are five common reasons why you two are always at loggerheads.

Inability to accept the other's view

When you don't accept your partner's view on an issue this could result to disagreement. When you discard their view/opinion then there is every tendency that it could result to you both being at loggerheads.

Unresolved issues

It's funny how issues that are unresolved finds a way of shooting its head and cause partners to be at loggerheads. Unresolved issues is a spoiler and when it is recalled it will definitely cause partners to be at loggerheads. So always find a way not to by pass any issue instead handle it with immediate effect.

Blame Addictions

You should learn not to easily point fingers at your partner. Sometimes we feel that we always need someone to blame. You don't expect your partner to keep quiet when you blame them as they will definitely try to comeback. This is one great reason why partners are always at loggerheads.

Personal issues

This differs among different partners. For some their personal issues could be their family, money, time etc. This reason is also a great because these issues are personal and dear.

Unforgiveness

The inability to let go of previous hurt, pain would cause partners to be at loggerheads. The fact that one party holds on to happenings in the past and refuses to let it go would always cause partners to disagree and never be in sink.

From the reasons listed above you can see that reasons why couples are always at loggerheads is not far fetched. The reasons are conscious effort from but sides and is not magic at all. The bottom line is that partners should always seek measures to sort out their differences.

2018: Amosun Assures Of Accelerated Development In Ogun

Amosun, Ogun

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has assured the people of the state of accelerated development in 2018.

Giving the assurance in his New Year broadcast, the governor noted that the “Mission to Rebuild” Ogun, embarked upon by his administration had continued to gather momentum, and was yielding bountiful results across our state.

He said his government would leave no stone unturned in developing the state and improving on the lives of the people.

“Our eyes are firmly set at finishing high, finishing strong and finishing well.”

The government, he pointed out, will on its part, not relent in its efforts to ensure that it makes a positive, inclusive, and lasting impact on the lives of our people.

“To achieve this, the consolidation of the rebuilding mission of our dear state will be vigorously pursued this year, to ensure completion of all ongoing projects.

“No doubt, these projects and the developmental strides have made our state to rise to the top tier, among the comity of states, and made us the pride of our citizens, both at home and in the Diaspora.

“Even, our most ardent critics have come to the conclusion that Ogun State has carved a niche of excellence for itself in the delivery of good governance to our people with the stamp of ‘Ogun Standard’ proudly imprinted on all that we do,” the governor added.

Amosun thanked the people of the state for their tremendous support that contributed to the numerous achievements recorded by his administration, over the past six and a half years.

He described them as invaluable partners in progress, which he noted manifested in the successes recorded in the state’s economic development.

“As we celebrate this New Year, let us use the opportunity of this festive period to reflect on the journey before us.

APC, katsina, Kebbi

The South East zonal caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sundayat  Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi, adopted President Muhammadu Buhari for second term.

The adoption was the high point of the outcome of the South East zonal caucus meeting held at the home town of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister for Science and Technology, in Uburu.

It is recalled that the meeting was attended by top party chieftains from across the South-East geopolitical zone.

2018: Theresa May Will Lose Leadership Of Conservative Party, Nigerian Pastor Prophecises

The Founder of the Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries International, Abuja, Prophet Emmanuel Omale, has predicted that Theresa May will lose the leadership of the ruling party in the United Kingdom.
He also called for serious prayers for some political office holders including President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha Buhari, former President, in order to avert food poisoning, death and terminal diseases.

Prophet Omale who stated this in the prophetic declaration for 2018, issued in Abuja, specifically solicited  for divine intervention against resurgence of insurgency and death of a South-West State Governor, among others.

He specifically revealed notable activities that would hearald Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2019 general elections, among others.

Below are the details of the eclaration.

1) I see a lot of challenges with the candidacy of President Muhammad Buhari, as his acceptance requires a lot of prayers and personal soul searching. God says another Northerner,

a current Governor and a serving Minister amongst his close confidants will have a better acceptance.

2) Aisha Buhari is a good woman and means well for the Nation. She requires special prayers for herself, especially against food poisoning and children, especially at child birth.

3) A second term Governor’s wife in the South-West needs serious prayers for her health.

4) The Nation should pray for the survival of a former President.

5) PDP will lose Ekiti State.

6) Kwankwaso will soon be without a party.

7) APC will have huge challenges managing a backlash from National Assembly primaries.

8) God has not finished purging PDP, therefore they require a lot of work to form a cohesive and vibrant challenge to APC.

9) I see a third political party coming out by March/April. it will be a very strong coalition and will have the potential to redefine the Nigerian Political Map.

10) The National Assembly should pray against loss of two prominent members due to road accident.

11) A lot of sabotage awaits Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in PDP, though only him can give PDP a respectable showing.

12) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will be disgraced and humiliated out of PDP by sitting PDP Governors

13) PDP Senators, House of Representatives Members and Governors are going to gang up against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

14) I see a PDP governor cross-carpeting to APC.

OTHER PROPHECIES:

15) Two octogenarians in the South-south require prayers to survive 2018.

16) I see a violent but brief resurgence of Boko Haram activities around the months of March to June, and it will be finally defeated.

17) Security Agencies and the general public should be vigilant against terrorist intentions on filling stations and other fuel depots.

18) A Governor from the North West requires serious prayers to avert death from kidney and liver related ailments.

19) We have asked for prayers in the past for Kaduna, Taraba, Benue and Plateau states. We must continuously hold them in prayer vigil, to avert more bloodshed that could last for 14 days.

20) A critical bridge in the country should be urgently rehabilitated, to prevent massive loss of lives.

21) Pray to God, to prevent a huge clash between herdsmen and people of a South Eastern state.

22) Government should carefully handle the Financial sector, as I see panic withdrawals that may collapse two banks.

23) Oil will not sustain the current high price.

24) There will be massive floodings in unusual places in Nigeria.

25) A new disease will be observed, worse than Ebola but all those born again in Christ will prevail.

26) 2018 is a year of faith, as those that pray and give to the Work of God shall record uncommon breakthroughs.

27) New sport talents will be discovered and will attain international reckoning.

28) There is going to be massive arrest and detention of internet fraudsters. I see a situation where both National and International agencies will form a common front and wage serious war on those that engage in fraudulent internet activities.

29) God brought Ibrahim Magu for this season to wage severe war against corruption; he will end up making Nigeria more acceptable internationally because of his relentless fight on corruption. God said, the more they fight Magu, the stronger and more powerful he will become because God is strongly behind him.

30). Lieutenant General TY Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, will be used to restore peace to the North such that Nigerians will be very happy and proud of him in 2018. After he leaves office, he will be highly celebrated as a war hero.

31) The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris should pray against set-up and betrayals that will bring disgrace to his hard work.

32) I see many Pastors that are not called by God being highly disgraced in 2018.

33) There will be a move to make a law that will checkmate the activities and operations of Churches in Nigeria, but the law will not be implemented.

34) I see a very big and popular Man of God having a terminal disease that will be known to everybody. The only way that this Man of God can come out of this disease is to start using God’s money for what the money is meant for.

ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE:

35) I see instability in Sierra Leone.

36) President Zuma of South Africa may resign.

37) President Trump will have a better perception in 2018.

38) Theresa May will lose the leadership of the ruling party in the UK.

39) A President in Central Africa may be assassinated.

40) Pray against war in Cameroon

2018 Prophecies: Everything your favorite pastors say about Buhari, Obasanjo, Atiku

2018 Prophecies: What pastors say about Buhari, Obasanjo, Atiku

The 2018 prophecies are all about the above personalities, Tinubu, Ambode, PDP, Osinbajo, and the 2019 election.

2018 is here and the prophecies are rolling in from our favorite pastors who have a lot to say about President Buhari, Obasanjo, Atiku and more.

These revelations from God also concern N-Power, treasury looters, APC, Ahmed Bolaji Tinubu, Vice President Prof. Osinbajo, Governor Ambode, PDP, Osinbajo and the 2019 election in general.

Here is what these various pastors and prophets have to say about the new year.

Fr. Ejike Mbaka

The Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, has a warning for President Muhammadu Buhari concerning the 2019 elections.

He shared this earlier today while delivering his New Year Message, according to Naija News.

Here is an excerpt from Rev Mbaka’s 2018 prophecy:

…The Lord says, Nigerians, he says, captive Nigerians, you will be speedily rescued; Nigerians, things are very very difficult, hard and tough nowadays; the hardship is not from God, they are man-made; the wicked cabals and satanic agents in this country have wickedly kidnapped the goodwill and good intentions of Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari; his good intentions have been kidnapped;

“President Buhari must wake up and sit up immediately or…heaven demands him, heaven demands Buhari, our President to change all those who are holding and caging him in captivity; if he will not change them, he will be changed; Mr. President wake up; sit up; God said you are toying with the privilege given to you; there is no time; Nigerians are dying in your hand; people are not happy with your system. Change or you will be changed…

“So, Mr. President, as I was waiting on the Lord, I’m asked to advise you, don’t come out for 2nd tenure, after this, retire, peacefully. Mr. President, you are the cause of your own problem. God gave you an adviser, a wonderful mentor, a visionist, a matriarch, in the person of your wife, Aisha, but you don’t want to listen to her, that woman is heartbroken because she understood that you are not yourself. Come back to yourself or you will cry by the time you will be sent out of office. So, those who are encouraging you to come out and run again, they want to disgrace you shamefully and publicly.

“A time is coming when Nigerian is going to be a country that is worthy for investment, investors will come from the North, South, and East, from foreign countries to invest in Nigeria; at that time, the people can see that the government of Nigeria and the pattern of governance is our problem. God has given Nigerians everything and He says, ‘Nigerians be patient with me.’ It will not take time I will begin to deal wickedly to those who are dealing wickedly to you people. Those who are punishing you, I will punish.

“…Many families will be visited by the spirit of death, so the people of God are encouraged to soak themselves in the blood of Jesus Christ. The secret of victory over this spirit of death is continuous indwelling in the blood of the lamb.”

Pastor Paul Enenche

The minister of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Abuja, has also shared his prophecy for the new year.

During the new year cross overservice in his church, he said he sees 2018 as the year of open doors, a new beginning for Nigeria.

He added that God is going to take his revenge on the wicked.

In his words, “There shall be a drastic shift in dimension in all realms in an unpredictable manner”.

Prophet Samuel Oyadara

The founder and general overseer of Christ for All Peoples Church, Ojoo, Lagos State, has shared his insights for 2018.

He shared them with Tribune. He said, “God is warning Obasanjo to repent before he dies. Osinbajo needs to pray hard to escape plan of the enemies. Tinubu should pray against assassination.

“What Atiku Abubakar must do if he wants to rule Nigeria is that he would need to conquer his strong political enemies through serious prayers.‎ I saw PDP umbrella rising up.”

Prophet Oyadara added that a former president is going to be sick this year and that God had not anointed a presidential candidate for 2019.

ALSO READ: Like Pastor Adeboye, Prophet Nwachukwu sees a bright future in 2018

Prophet Williams Nkang

The Spiritual Leader of God’s Mind City Church in Abuja has also announced his prophecy for this new year.

Daily Post reports that God told him that many corrupt politicians will die, adding that Nigeria should expect peace and tranquility in 2018.

In his words, “The Lord told me to warn treasury looters that some of them will join their ancestors in mysterious ways in 2018 unless they come clean before all Nigerians and retrace their steps, because God himself has promised to personally fight corruption on behalf of the poor masses who groan in pain as a result of the menace.

“The Lord told me: ‘I am releasing my angels of death to go after those who plunder and loot the commonwealth of my people.’

”He told me that Nigerians will witness great prosperity in 2018; the country will enjoy a bountiful harvest. I saw it; I say what has been revealed to me.

“The nation’s investment in agriculture and other social investment programmes such as NPower and YouWin will yield life-transforming results. Forget about rumors of an imminent increase in pump price of petrol, the economy won’t slip into another recession.

“The Lord has also told me to tell the whole world that though political tensions will be experienced within certain circles in the country ahead of the 2019 general elections, Nigeria will enjoy relative peace and tranquility.

“President Muhammadu Buhari must rise to the mandate of his office and provide the nation with quality leadership.

“If Buhari fails to rise to the occasion, the nation will be derailed from the path of blessings which God has prepared for it in 2018.”

Primate Belonwu Ezeanyaeche

The cleric of White Holy Sword of Light Church, Abuja has also heard from God.

Speaking with Independent, he said, “What I am saying is what God had revealed to me about this country and about Buhari and what Nigeria is going to be. Everything is working according to God’s plan. God brought this man in to strengthen issues.

“Atiku defeating Buhari in an election is like having a camel passing through the eye of a needle. It cannot be possible. He cannot. Atiku has lost the key to the presidency since 2006. There is no way he can be the president of Nigeria, even if he contests for 10, 20 times, he will not be the president of this country."

“God revealed it to me. In 2006, I warned him. You finished the 8 years as a Vice President, stay away let another person contribute his quota. But he hardened his heart and that was when God took away that blessing from him.

“So whether he contests against Buhari or he contests against another person, Atiku will not be the president of this country because God has taken the key from him.

“Atiku is not going anywhere. God revealed to me that Buhari will rule this country for 8 years and there will be an attempt to eliminate him and that has already happened.

“God saved him because he has to fulfill his mandate. So anybody that will come after Buhari will have to wait till he finishes the work God wanted him to do.

“I want Nigerians to be very watchful or very careful because the man that will succeed Buhari will be more decisive than Buhari and Nigerians will cry for the return of Buhari.

“Nigerians will clamor for Buhari to come back to power. Buhari is very soft compared to the man that will come after him. APC will still be in power.

“I am telling you is what God revealed to me. You can hardly know that Buhari is a military general because of his humility, his courage and the way he relates with people. He is different from someone who would promise what he can’t fulfill. Buhari is a silent achiever.

“I prefer Buhari to Atiku because God revealed these things to me. God revealed Atiku to me in 2006 when he was working as Vice President under Obasanjo.”

Sports: Chart shows how wild and crazy the last 4 hours were in the NFL playoff chase

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens seemed like a lock to make the NFL playoffs in the AFC and then they were not.

  • Heading into the late-afternoon games on Sunday, four teams were still alive for the final two playoff spots in the AFC.
  • The Baltimore Ravens seemed like a lock for one of the spots up until the final minute, but were eliminated in dramatic fashion.
  • The Ravens' loss saved the season for the Buffalo Bills.

The Baltimore Ravens seemed like a lock to make the NFL playoffs in the AFC and then they were not. Then it looked like they were a lock again, and then they were eliminated. That was just one part of a crazy final four hours in the hunt for the final three playoff spots.

Heading into the late-afternoon games, four teams were still alive for the two AFC Wild Card spots. The Ravens had the easiest path, and a 94% chance to make the postseason as they only needed a win at home over the Cincinnati Bengals or a loss by either Buffalo Bills or the Tennessee Titans. Then chaos happened.

The Bills won their game easily. The Titans' game was closer, but they eventually held on for a win to clinch one of the spots. The Ravens were in trouble early, but came back to take a lead in the fourth quarter. Things seemed to be going their way, but the Bengals scored a long touchdown in the final minute on a fourth-down play and the Ravens were suddenly eliminated and the Bills were in.

That chaos was captured in this chart by Brian Burke of ESPN, who tracked the playoff probabilities of the four AFC contenders throughout the late-afternoon games.

Bills fans will indeed want to frame this one.

VIDEO: President Muhammadu Buhari 2018 New Year Speech

I join my fellow citizens this morning to welcome and celebrate the New Year 2018. This year promises to be pivotal in our quest for CHANGE.

Unfortunately, I am saddened to acknowledge that for many this Christmas and New Year holidays have been anything but merry and happy. Instead of showing love, companionship and charity, some of our compatriots chose this period to inflict severe hardship on us all by creating unnecessary fuel scarcity across the country.

The consequence was that not many could travel and the few who did had to pay exorbitant transport fares. This is unacceptable given that NNPC had taken measures to ensure availability at all depots. I am determined to get to the root of this collective blackmail of all Nigerians and ensure that whichever groups are behind this manipulated hardship will be prevented from doing so again.

Such unpatriotism will not divert the Administration from the course we have set ourselves. Our government’s watch word and policy thrust is CHANGE. We must change our way of doing things or we will stagnate and be left behind in the race to lift our people out of poverty and into prosperity.

My address to fellow Nigerians this morning is devoted mainly to informing you about the intense efforts this Administration is putting to address our country’s huge infrastructural deficit.

We are going to make significant in-roads in advancing road, rail and power projects across the country.

The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing is one of the drivers of this Government’s commitment to renew and increase Nigeria’s stock of infrastructure in order to achieve global economic competitiveness as targeted under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.

With regards to Railways, we have set ourselves ambitious targets. Already in construction stage is the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Railway.

The line should reach Ibadan from Lagos by the end of 2019 and will carry two million passengers per year and five million tons of cargo will be transported every year giving a substantial boost to the country’s economy.

Construction of the Kano – Kaduna segment is expected to commence this year and reach Kaduna by the end of 2019. By the end of 2021 the two ends will be joined so that we will have standard gauge railway across the main North-South trading route.

The Abuja – Kaduna route will be boosted by additional rolling stock next Thursday and will be able to handle one million commuters annually.

At the same time I have approved and negotiations will be concluded in the first part of this year for the Port Harcourt to Maiduguri line covering Aba, Owerri, Umuahia, Enugu, Awka, Abakaliki, Makurdi, Lafia, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola and Damaturu. The Abuja to Itakpe line will go through Baro and terminate in Warri with construction of a new seaport at Warri.

Negotiations are also advanced for the construction of other railway lines, firstly from Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic passing through Kazaure, Daura, Katsina, Jibia to Maradi.

Secondly, Lagos to Calabar the “Coastal Rail” through Ore, Benin, Agbor, Asaba, Onitsha, Sapele, Ughelli, Warri, Yenagoa, Otuoke, Port Harcourt, Aba, Uyo and Calabar. In the next few years, all these Nigerian cities will be linked by functional modern rail systems, giving enormous boost to the social and economic life of our people.

With respect to the Abuja Capital Light Rail, progress has reached 98% completion, as at 64% completion when we assumed office. Only test runs remain before start of operations.

This train service will stimulate economic activities in the Federal Capital and provide residents with an efficient and safe transportation system. Twelve railway sub-stations around the capital over a 45.2 kilometre route will serve as a catalyst and a pull factor to the economy of the area. The Light Rail System will reduce traffic congestion and carbon emission in line with the Administration’s policy on climate change.

Management of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has been reconstituted and has been charged with a 12 week rapid intervention in road repairs to cover all the geo-political zones. Government is undertaking repairs and maintenance of 44 roads within the six geo-political zones.

Twenty five major highways will be funded under the N100b SUKUK facility. Each geo-political zone will benefit by an equal amount of N16.67b. The following major highways are to receive special attention:

a. Oyo – Ogbomosho,

b. Ofusu – Ore – Ajebandele – Shagamu,

c. Yenagoa Road Junction – Kolo Otuoke – Bayelsa Palm,

d. Enugu – Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Way,

e. Onitsha – Enugu Expressway,

f. Kaduna Eastern Bypass,

g. Dualization of Kano – Maiduguri Road,

h. Dualization of Abuja – Lokoja – Benin Road,

i. Dualization of Suleja – Minna Road.

In addition, Government has approved work to start on the re-construction of Abuja – Kaduna – Zaria – Kano road which is in a state of disrepair. Work will soon start and is expected to be completed in 2019.

More Nigerians across the country are experiencing improved power supply to their homes and businesses. However, power remains a concern to this government because too many people still do not have regular and reliable supply.

The Payment Assurance Guarantee Scheme which started in January 2016 has enabled the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trader to raise so far N701 billion to assure Generation Companies of at least 80% payment for any power delivered to the national grid.

Consequently, generation has now reached 7,000MW. On December 8, 2017 the country achieved 5,155MW of power delivered to consumers, the highest level ever recorded.

Several moribund projects have been revived. Repairs of Afam Power Station added 110MW in 2017 and another 240MW will be added this year through a private investment partnership.

Katsina Power Project is now being tested and producing 10MW of power from wind for the first time in Nigeria. It should be fully operational this year.

The Zungeru 700MW Hydroelectric Power Project, stalled by court cases is due for completion in 2019. The transmission and other requirements to operate the 30MW Gurara Phase 1 Hydroelectric Plant, the 40MW Kashimbilla Hydroelectric Plant and the 215 MW Kaduna Gas/LPG/Diesel Power Plant will also be completed this year.

A landmark project, Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project is at last taking off. This project has been on the drawing Board for 40 years, but now the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the 3,050MW project has been agreed with a Chinese joint venture Company with a financing commitment from the government of China. Completion is targeted for 2023.

As I mentioned earlier, the Transmission Company of Nigeria can now distribute all the 7,000MW that can be generated. TCN and the Niger Delta Holding Company have added 1,950MVA of 330 down to 132KV transformer capacity of 10 transmission stations and 2,930MVA of 132 down to 33KV transformer capacity of 42 sub-stations including Ikot Ekpene, Aba, Alagbon, Ajah, Ejigbo, Funtua and Zaria.

This Administration is working with the privatised distribution Companies to overcome the continuing challenges of distribution.

These massive public works should spearhead the recovery and lead millions back to employment. You will recall that it was not until last year that we got out of the economic recession into which the country had fallen as a consequence of past unsustainable economic policies which projected short-term illusory growth.

The government is slowly stabilizing the economy.

It was in order to change the steady and steep decline that we adopted the more sustainable policies and programmes captured in the Economic Recovery Plan. Diversification efforts have resulted in improved output particularly in agriculture and solid minerals sectors. The relative exchange rate stability has improved manufacturing sector performance.

We have got to get used to discipline and direction in economic management. The days of business as usual are numbered.

Two years ago I appealed to people to go back to the land. I am highly gratified that agriculture has picked up, contributing to the government’s effort to re-structure the economy. Rice imports will stop this year. Local rice, fresher and more nutritious will be on our dishes from now on.

By the same token, I am today appealing to enterprising Nigerians with ideas and unemployed graduates and other able-bodied and literate men and women with ideas not to just sit and wait for employment from the government or the Organized Private Sector. Great nations are built by enterprising people who turn their hands to anything that circumstances dictate.

In respect of political developments, I have kept a close watch on the on-going debate about “Restructuring”. No human law or edifice is perfect. Whatever structure we develop must periodically be perfected according to changing circumstances and the country’s socio-economic developments.

We Nigerians can be very impatient and want to improve our conditions faster than may be possible considering our resources and capabilities. When all the aggregates of nationwide opinions are considered, my firm view is that our problems are more to do with process than structure.

We tried the Parliamentary system: we jettisoned it. Now there are shrill cries for a return to the Parliamentary structure. In older democracies these systems took centuries to evolve so we cannot expect a copied system to fit neatly our purposes. We must give a long period of trial and improvement before the system we have adopted is anywhere near fit for purpose.

However, there is a strong case for a closer look at the cost of government and for the public services long used to extravagance, waste and corruption to change for the better. I assure you that government is ever receptive to ideas which will improve governance and contribute to the country’s peace and stability.

As the electioneering season approaches politicians must avoid exploiting ethnicity and religion by linking ethnicity with religion and religion with politics. Such must be avoided at all costs if we are to live in harmony.

In this respect the rest of Nigeria could learn from the South Western States who have successfully internalized religion, ethnicity and politics.

Political discourse should be conducted with civility, decorum and in a constitutional manner. We all have a collective responsibility to strengthen our democracy and entrench the rule of law. We should draw encouragement from the series of bye-elections conducted by INEC last year which were generally violence free and their outcomes adjudged to be free and fair.

Before I conclude my address I must reassure my fellow citizens that security of life and property is still top of our government’s agenda. We have since beaten Boko Haram.

Isolated attacks still occur, but even the best-policed countries cannot prevent determined criminals from committing terrible acts of terror as we have seen during the past years in Europe, Asia, Middle East, elsewhere in Africa and in America.

Our government remains determined to protect all Nigerians in line with our election pledge and promises. On behalf of all Nigerians let me offer our thanks to the Armed forces, the Police, other para-military forces and traditional authorities who are working round the clock to ensure that you and I go about our normal business in reasonable safety.

Terrorism and urban crimes are world-wide phenomena and our security forces are continuously adapting their responses to changing threats.

With regard to rampant cases of kidnappings, we are taking immediate short-term measures to combat this new evil creeping into our societies. Tighter police methods and swift and severe punishment for those proved to be engaged in kidnapping are on the way.

With respect to Niger Delta, Government is still engaging responsible leadership of the Communities to help in identifying and addressing genuine grievances of the region. Our clean-up programme in collaboration with the United Nations is making satisfactory progress.

I am grateful to all the Governors and other Political & Community leaders of the Niger Delta States for their part in bringing relative peace to the areas.

Finally let me again express my heartfelt thanks to all Nigerians who prayed for me during my illness last year. I feel deeply humbled by your prayers and good wishes and I am more determined than ever to serve you to the best of my ability.

Good morning. And I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

The New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles are the top seeds in each conference.

  • The NFL playoff field is now set.
  • The Atlanta Falcons clinched the final spot in the NFC, and the Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills clinched the final two spots in the AFC.

We now know all 12 seeds for when the NFL playoffs begin next weekend.

In the NFC, the Atlanta Falcons clinched the final playoff spot with a win over the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers had already clinched a playoff spot, but their loss means they will be the other NFC wild-card team and the New Orleans Saints are NFC South champs.

We already knew the Philadelphia Eagles would be the top seed in the NFC with home-field advantage. The Minnesota Vikings also earned a bye in the first round by being the No. 2 seed.

Here is the bracket for the NFC (via the NFL):

In the AFC, things were more complicated heading into Week 17, but the Tennessee Titans took care of business by winning Sunday to clinch one wild-card spot. The Baltimore Ravens blew a lead in the final minute against the Cincinnati Bengals, giving the final wild-card spot to the Buffalo Bills.

The New England Patriots sealed the top seed in the AFC on Sunday with a win over the New York Jets. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the No. 2 seed.

Here is the bracket for the AFC (via the NFL):

The schedule for the wild-card matchups are as follows. The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Titans in the early game Saturday, and the Los Angeles Rams will host the Falcons at night on NBC.

Human Trafficking: Edo Partners FG On Legal Migration

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo says as part of efforts to stop human trafficking and illegal migration, his administration is partnering  the Federal Government on a project hat will ensure people travel legally and properly.

The governor disclosed this during his 2018 New Year’ day’s  broadcast  on Monday in Benin.

“Our saddest moment in 2017, was the very shocking and sad experiences of our sons and daughters in Libya: who fell victims to one of the worst forms of evil, which is human trafficking,’’ Obaseki said.

“People, who left our shores with high hopes for greener pastures only to be subjected to all manner of inhuman treatments such as slavery, organ harvesting while many died in the Sahara Desert and in the Mediterranean Sea.’’

He said that the project would involve training and certification for youths, who then would be issued visas to travel legally if they wanted to.

“Our skills’ acquisition centres will offer training, certification and process the issuance  of visas to those who want to travel  under well defined structures to do so safely and with dignity.

He said his administration was also cooperating with the Federal Government, development partners and other stakeholders to execute a comprehensive strategy to identify, track, arrest and prosecute all those involved in the heinous crime.

“We were all pained to read harrowing accounts of the experiences of the returnees and even more pained to see videos of their unfortunate experiences on the internet.

“We have also put in place a comprehensive welcome, documentation, counseling, training, rehabilitation and empowerment programme for the returnees.

“I am glad to inform you all that we are recording great successes on all fronts in this regard,” the governor said.
