Buhari: Only looters are discrediting President – Gov. Yahaya Bello

Only looters are discrediting Buhari - Governor Yahaya Bello

Bello also said that many Nigerians have become successful and gainfully employed because of the efforts of the Buhari administration.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Friday, February 9, 2018, defended the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, saying only looters are talking down the government.

He said those benefiting from the funds some individuals have stolen from Nigeria's treasury are also angry because the money is not flowing like it used to.

Speaking to state house correspondents after after observing Ju'mat prayer at the presidential villa, Bello said corrupt politicians are frustrated because they can no longer pay tithe from looted funds as President Buhari has blocked all channels of illicit funds.

The Governor was reportedly reacting to a statement by the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria who visited the President at the villa on Thursday.

The clerics told Buhari that his goodwill is being depleted by "glaring failures".

Bello, however, asked, "The question is who are those Nigerians who are angry?

"The category of Nigerians that are angry are those who used a private jet to cart away Nigeria’s money, in dollars, out of the country to South Africa (in reference to the case of alleged money laundering involving a former president of Christian Association of Nigeria).

"I’m sure you are away that our money is still locked down there, such money if you bring it into the economy, a lot of youth who are unemployed will surely be employed.

"And of course those that have looted the country dry and normally go to the church and mosque to pay tithe are no longing doing so. Of course, this is the category of people who are angry."

He added that there are many people who have become successful and gainfully employed because of the efforts of the APC-led government.

"Among those happy with the current administration are farmers and those with real jobs… because the economy is improving.

"Our foreign reserve is increasing. I think those that are benefiting from these crimes and criminality will be angry and they are Nigerians. So it is important to define the category of people who are angry.

"I want to urge Nigerians to continue to appreciate Mr President, pray for him so that the good work he has started he will complete it, so that Nigeria will be not of the woods", Bello said.

Buhari's 'failures'

The opposition and many other prominent Nigerians, including former presidents, have rated the Buhari administration low, claiming that he has failed to fulfill his campaign promise of bringing 'change' to the nation.

Last month, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, in a lengthy open letter to Buhari, advised him not to seek re-election in 2019 owning to his failures which he highlighted in the letter.

In the same vein, former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida also released a statement last week, advocating for a youthful leadership in 2019.

Politics: The person next in line to oversee the Mueller investigation suddenly stepped down

rachel brand

As associate attorney general, Rachel Brand would have been the next in line to oversee the Russia investigation if Rod Rosenstein left the department.

  • Rachel Brand, the third in line at the US Justice Department, plans to step down, The New York Times reported Friday.
  • As associate attorney general, Brand would have been next to oversee the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, in the absence of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein.
  • She became associate attorney general in May 2017, the same month that Mueller was placed in charge of the Russia probe.

Rachel Brand, the third in line at the US Justice Department, suddenly stepped down, The New York Times reported on Friday.

Brand, who joined the department in May 2017 as associate attorney general will take a new position in the private sector.

As associate attorney general, Brand would have been next to oversee the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, in the absence of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein. Jeff Sessions, who sits at the top of the department, previously recused himself from the probe.

Sessions earlier this month praised Brand for her service, thanking her for what he called her "strong leadership."

"Rod and Rachel are Harvard graduates, they are experienced lawyers. Rod's had 27 years in the department, Rachel's had a number of years in the department previously, so they both represent the kind of quality and leadership we want in the department," Sessions continued.

State Police: Osinbajo’s stance in order – Sen. Leader

Politics: Mike Pence diverges from Trump in response to Rob Porter scandal

Vice President Mike Pence

Vice President Mike Pence said he was "appalled" by allegations that Rob Porter, a former top White House aide, abused his ex-wives.

  • Vice President Mike Pence said he was "appalled" by abuse allegations against Rob Porter in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt on Thursday.
  • "There's no tolerance in this White House and no place in America for domestic abuse," he said.
  • The vice president's response diverged from that of President Donald Trump, who on Friday praised Porter's work and wished him "well."

Vice President Mike Pence said he was "appalled" by allegations that Rob Porter, a former top White House aide, abused his ex-wives.

"I was appalled when I learned of the allegations against Rob Porter," Pence said in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt on Thursday, in South Korea, where he is leading the US delegation at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. "There's no tolerance in this White House and no place in America for domestic abuse."

Pence's response diverged from that of President Donald Trump, who on Friday praised Porter's work and wished him "well" after noting that he was "surprised" by the allegations.

Pence did not directly answer Holt's question about whether he was concerned that chief of staff John Kelly had reportedly been aware of some of the allegations against Porter since last fall. Porter, who served a the highest levels of the Trump White House, resigned as White House staff secretary on Wednesday amid the allegations.

"I think the White House has acknowledged that they could have handled it better," Pence said, referring to White House spokesman Raj Shah's comment that administration officials "could have done better" in dealing with the allegations.

Pence said he would "look into the matter" when he returns to Washington and will talk with the president about the issue.

"I'll share my counsel with the president directly," he said.

Trump told reporters on Friday that he hopes Porter has a "wonderful career."

"We certainly wish him well. It's obviously a tough time for him," Trump said. "He did a very good job when he was in the White House, and we hope he has a wonderful career."

Colbie Holderness, who was married to Porter from 2003 to 2008, has provided photos to the FBI and news outlets of a black eye she says he gave her. Jennifer Willoughby, Porter's wife from 2009 to 2013, provided a copy of a 2010 protective order she filed against him.

Porter has denied the allegations — something the president pointed to in his remarks.

"He says he's innocent, and I think you have to remember that," Trump said. "He said very strongly yesterday that he's innocent. So you'll have to talk to him about that."

The president did not mention the two women who have accused Porter of abuse.

Reports emerged Thursday that the White House counsel, Don McGahn, had known for more than a year that Porter faced allegations of abuse but did not investigate them while Porter continued to serve at the highest levels of the White House.

On Wednesday, after multiple news outlets had detailed Holderness and Willoughby's allegations, the White House stood by Porter. The White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said the president and the chief of staff, John Kelly, had "full confidence and trust" in him.

Kelly released a statement calling Porter "a man of true integrity and honor." The news website Axios reported that he pressed Porter to stay on in his role.

"I can't say enough good things about him," Kelly said. "He is a friend, a confidante, and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him."

Later on Wednesday, Kelly released another statement saying he was "shocked by the new allegations" against Porter, pointing to Holderness' photos.

Ex-Military Governor ‘Drills’ Dickson At First Golf Lessons

Dickson, Bayelsa, Paris Club Debt Refund

Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson on Thursday took his first training session in the game of golf at the Yenagoa Golf Course and Estate located at the Tourism Island in New Yenagoa City.

The first Military Governor of old Rivers State and Chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, Alfred Diete-Spiff, and his coach, Celina James, guided Dickson on his first foray into the game of golf.

The Governor, who was edgy at the beginning, took a number of practice swings from the tee, before hitting his first ball into the fairway, maneuvering a bunker close to the green.

At the green, he also tried a couple of potting shots, hitting the pin a number of times to attract some applause from the lovers of golf.

In a chat with reporters after the training session, an excited Dickson thanked Diete-Spiff for finding time to take him on his first lessons on the golf course.

He noted that the former military governor was one of the motivational and inspirational factors to the development of the golf course and the estate project undertaken by his administration.

He said the Yenagoa Golf Course and Estate would be the best in the country, stressing that about 300 high-end plots are available for interested members of the public to acquire for development.

Governor Dickson also renewed his call on investors and individuals to take advantage of the huge potential of the state, especially in the newly proposed Yenagoa City and leisure and vacation homes in the golf course and estate.

He explained that the state government embarked on the project not only to make the sport popular in the state, but to also encourage the youths to channel their energies to sporting activities like golf, polo, among others.

Diete-Spiff, the traditional ruler of Twon-Brass in Brass Local Government Area, commended Dickson for his enthusiasm in golf and his fair attempts at grasping the technicalities of the game.

Politics: Inside the strange relationship between Trump and Hope Hicks, his right-hand woman and the youngest White House communications director in history

null

The relationship between President Donald Trump and Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, is being scrutinized more closely than ever.

  • The relationship between President Donald Trump and Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, is being scrutinized more closely than ever.
  • Hicks is reportedly a key focus in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
  • Critics have also accused her of enabling Trump's worst instincts.

Few figures within President Donald Trump's administration have prompted as much interest and speculation as Hope Hicks, the mysterious communications director who had no political experience before she joined the Trump campaign. In no time, however, Hicks rose to the top echelons of the White House.

Her close-knit relationship with Trump has been thrust into a new light in recent weeks, as the 29-year-old Hicks has reportedly emerged as a focal point in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and potential collusion with the Trump campaign.

Hicks has also found herself at the center of a scandal over Rob Porter, the staff secretary who resigned on Wednesday after reports that he abused his two ex-wives. Hicks and Porter were romantically involved, and she reportedly helped draft a statement defending him after the allegations first went public.

Hicks has also come under increasing criticism by those inside and outside President Donald Trump's inner circle, who say she treats Trump in a way that enables his most impulsive behavior.

Here's what you need to know about the unusual relationship between Trump and his right-hand woman:

Hicks' working relationship with Trump began to take off in January 2015, when she was still working with his daughter Ivanka Trump and doing communications work for the Trump Organization.

Source: New York Magazine

"Mr. Trump looked at me and said, 'I'm thinking about running for president, and you're going to be my press secretary,'" Hicks once said. "I think it's the year of the outsider. helps to have people with outsider perspective."

Source: New York Magazine

Though Hicks had no experience in politics, she was already a well-trained PR representative from the powerhouse firm Hiltzik Strategies when the Trumps hired her in 2014, and she comes from a family of high-profile communications experts.

Sources: Business Insider, Los Angeles Times

Hicks is intensely private and rarely grants interviews to journalists on the record. But others have been eager to sing her praises, describing her as fiercely loyal to Trump and highly effective at reading his moods.

Sources: The New York Times

"Her most important role is her bond with the candidate," then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort said of Hicks in 2016. "She totally understands him."

Source: The New York Times

"My father makes people earn his trust. She's earned his trust," Ivanka Trump said of Hicks.

Source: The New York Times

Trump himself frequently speaks out in support of her. "I'm lucky to have her," he said in 2016. "She will often give advice, and she'll do it in a very low-key manner, so it doesn't necessarily come off in the form of advice. But it's delivered very nicely," he said.

Source: The New York Times

Trump affectionately calls her "Hopester" or "Hopie" — though she still calls him "Mr. Trump."

But Hicks' job on the campaign trail wasn't always glamorous. She was reportedly required to steam Trump's pants — while he was still wearing them — and was once fiercely berated for forgetting the steamer.

But she's steadfast in her loyalty, and is said to speak effusively of Trump even when off-duty. She once begged guests at a golf club not to worry about his presidency after she overheard them discussing their fears. "I promise, he's a good person!" she said.

Source: Politico

But Hicks' proximity to Trump has concerned some of those who know her and who fear her association with him could tarnish her future career prospects. "There are times when I would like to voice my opinion," one family friend said.

Source: The New York Times

Meanwhile, others in Trump's and Hicks' circle have grown irritated by what they view as her tendency to enable Trump during his most impulsive or self-destructive moments.

Sources: The New York Times, Politico

"What's amazing to me is that Hope sat there and let it happen," one former top GOP hill aide said last July, after Trump publicly disparaged his own Attorney General. "The fact that people around him are not trying to protect the president blows my mind."

Source: Politico

That impulse to defend Trump at all costs may have landed her in Mueller's crosshairs. A former spokesman for Trump's legal team, Mark Corallo, reportedly plans to implicate Hicks in the obstruction-of-justice case.

Source: Business Insider

Corallo's concern stems from a conference call between him, Trump, and Hicks, in which Hicks said emails written by Donald Trump Jr. about wanting to receive political dirt about Hillary Clinton from the Russians "will never get out."

Source: Business Insider

In response, Hicks' lawyer, Robert Trout, said Hicks "never said that," adding that she never suggested emails or documents be concealed or destroyed.

Source: Business Insider

But those close to Trump have voiced concerns over his relationship with Hicks and what’s viewed as her complete devotion "to accommodating him," according to Michael Wolff’s lightly-sourced book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House."

Source: "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House"

Their relationship was "long tolerated as a quaint bond between the older man and a trustworthy young woman," but "began to be seen as anomalous and alarming," Wolff wrote, adding that she eagerly transmitted his unfiltered views to the world.

Source: "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House"

"The problem isn't Twitter, it's Hope," one communications staffer reportedly said.

Source: "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House"

Trump and Hicks' relationship took a turn for the worse in February, after White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned over allegations that he abused his two ex-wives.

Source: CNN

Hicks, who is romantically involved with Porter, reportedly drafted a statement praising him as "a man of true integrity and honor." But she didn't consult Trump beforehand.

Sources: Business Insider, CNN

The controversy cause Trump to grow angry with Hicks, because felt that her judgment was clouded by her relationship with Porter, and he believed Hicks had put her priorities ahead of his.

Finance: Nike is dominating Adidas in the sneaker war (NKE)

null

One analyst took a look at the data and found that Nike may finally be topping its rival Adidas in sales.

Nike appears to be edging out rival Adidas in the competition for sneaker dominance.

The footwear company is proving that it can still rule the running and basketball sneaker category, according to data compiled by a Jefferies analyst. Nike has increased its market share in the top 60 sellers list, and its sneakers have dominated the top 10 selling shoes this year.

"Nike is gaining back share in their most important category," wrote Randal Konik, an equity analyst at Jefferies. He attributed much of that success to the popularity of Nike's Air VaporMax, as well as its recently-introduced Air VaporMax Plus.

Close to 80% of footwear retailers surveyed said the "brand first indicated as strongest in running" was Nike, up from 75% in the previous survey. Meanwhile, Adidas' primary brands, the Ultraboost and NMD, had declined in mentions to 13% from 15%, according to Jefferies.

Nike was also the clear leader in the basketball sneaker category due to the popularity of its Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Paul George brands. Adidas was barely mentioned in this category, falling to 1% from 3%.

"We believe Adidas will eventually build a more ubiquitous presence in Basketball as they continue to expand, but it is still early days," Konik said.

The Jefferies analyst also found that the retro trend was "coming back into favor," and he believes that this will bode well for Nike. Nike's Jordan Brand has already delivered it 11% of 2017's sales. The brand represents the second largest portion of Nike's sales, and is part of the top 10 highest-selling shoes this year.

Nike has recently been criticized for its slow production and failed attempts to offer the next trendy shoe, which had caused the shoemaker to lose market share to its German-based rival, Adidas. Adidas has made an aggressive push into the US, which was by and large successful with its focus on scale and ability to recognize trends early.

Yet Wedbush's Christopher Svezia had faith that Nike could be kickstarting its own renaissance. "The cadence of new footwear styles are notably higher vs a year ago and the pipeline embraces more retro and casual silhouettes," Svezia wrote in a note to investors.

Nike's shares were up on Friday at $63.05 per share and it was down 0.58% for the year.

Read more about how Nike plans to go into 'battleship mode' in order to dominate the athletic apparel market.

We’ll consider state police ―Senate Leader

The Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, has praised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s call for the creation of state police as an antidote to the rising security challenges in the country, saying that the National Assembly would consider it.

Speaking to State House correspondents after observing the Juma’at prayers at the State House Abuja Mosque on Friday, he applauded the security summit organized by the legislature as an example of collaboration, cooperation and partnership between the executive and the legislature.

While declaring the summit opened on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, Osinbajo had advocated for State Police and community policing, arguing that the Federal Government could not realistically provide security for Nigerian from the centre.

Asked if the legislature would back the Vice President’s call, the Senate Leader said: “Well, I’m not a legislature as such because I am only one member of the legislature.

“But as a committee member of the Ad-hoc Committee on Security and the Review of Security Infrastructure in Nigeria, I believe that the suggestion by the Vice President that we should go the way of state Police and even consider community policing, is very good suggestion and we are going to take it on board in the National Assembly.”

ALSO READ: NAPS passes vote of confidence on Ogun State police command

He opined that the synergy between the executive and the legislature will solve the security problems in the country.

Lawan added: “Of course. That is what we have been able to achieve with this. The Summit was declared open by the Vice President on behalf of Mr President and that was a typical example of collaboration, cooperation and partnership between the executive and the legislature. And we are so happy that this partnership is working.

“We have not concluded because the summit will continue on Monday and that will be the end of this particular summit and then the Senate will pass resolutions which the executive will definitely consider and implement by the grace of God.”

He also spoke about the possibility of successfully tacking the security challenges facing the country, saying that he was optimistic that it could be done.

The lawmaker stated: “Of course. We should be thinking in a very positive manner that we should be able to solve our problems. If we cannot solve the problems, then why did we even venture into it?

“I’m an optimistic person and I believe that coming together, the executive and the legislature, we can solve any problem in Nigeria if we have the support of Nigerians.

“It is not only those of us in government that are supposed to do everything to solve these kinds of challenges. But we need the continuous, and relentless support of citizens to ensure that we are able to provide the kind of solutions we need.”

Lawan backed the appointment of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to lead the effort to reconcile warring interests in the All Progressive Congress (APC), saying: “Fantastic! In fact that that committee should have been constituted long time ago because APC is plagued by some internal issues and I believe that these are issues that are surmountable.

“The Tinubu committee will definitely add value into reconciling the warring sides so to speak.

“Time is against us. We have to really kickstart these process of reconciliation immediately and I believe that as a family, we should be able to come out very much more united than we were before.”

Finance: UPS and FedEx are tumbling after Amazon says it’s going into shipping (AMZN, FDX, UPS)

UPS stock price amazon shipping

The service is designed to compete directly with UPS and FedEx, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Shares of the two largest US shipping companies, UPS and FedEx, are tumbling after the Wall Street Journal reported that Amazon will launch a competing package delivery service known as SWA, or “Shipping with Amazon.”

UPS was down more than 6% in early trading Friday, while FedEx was off 5%.

Amazon has flirted with shipping its own packages for a while now, most recently in October 2017, when shares of UPS and FedEx fell on news of a program called “seller flex,” in which Amazon would deliver packages on behalf of third-party sellers on the site.

It wasn’t immediately clear how much of an effect losing Amazon’s business will have on FedEx and UPS. In 2016, FedEx VP of Market Development Michael Glenn said Amazon accounts for just 3% of the Memphis-based carrier’s revenue.

UPS, on the other hand, carries about 30 percent of Amazon’s total US shipments — roughly $1 billion of annual revenue. That’s only 1.5% of the Atlanta-based carrier’s $65.87 billion 2017 revenue.

SWA will roll out in Los Angeles over the next few weeks, according to the Wall Street Journal, and will then spread to other cities around the US over the course of the year.

The move further expands Amazon's recent push into logistics and delivery, following the company's leasing of aircraft and ocean freight equipment.

Amazon's creation of the new delivery service comes as the company pushes into new avenues of business including the acquisition of grocer Whole Foods and a newly-announced joint healthcare venture with JPMorgan and Berkshire Hathaway.

Shares of Amazon were up just less than 1% in early trading Friday.

Finance: Here are the 5 times Amazon has panicked investors in other companies

null

Amazon has repeatedly showed an uncanny ability to disrupt entire segments of the stock market with corporate announcements.

  • Amazon has repeatedly showed an uncanny ability to disrupt entire segments of the stock market with corporate announcements.
  • The most recent example is Amazon's new package-delivery service, which will compete with FedEx and UPS, and sent shares of the two companies lower.
  • It's a dynamic that's played out repeatedly in recent months.

Amazon's plan to debut a package-delivery service may have rocked competing companies like UPS and FedEx, but it's far from the first time Jeff Bezos & Co. have imposed their will on the market.

The company has made a habit out of crushing competitor market values with even the most basic of announcements, and their delivery initiative is just the latest example of that.

The reasoning is simple — Amazon has a ton of cash and an unparalleled logistical network, and when it looks poised to enter or expand its position in a market, traders get scared and bail out of existing holdings in other companies.

Amazon has done this so regularly, in fact, that it can be difficult to keep all the instances straight. That's where we come in.

Below you'll find a list summarizing recent examples of companies getting "Amazon'd" — the Business Insider-coined term for when a stock finds itself at the whim of the ever-expanding juggernaut.

February 2018 — Package-delivery stocks tumble after Amazon says it will launch its own competing service

Shares of UPS and FedEx traded sharply lower in the pre-market the day of this report. With Amazon planning to undercut the costs of the other delivery giants, investors in the companies started anticipating the negative effect of lower package volume.

Amazon's move pushes it further into logistics and delivery, following the company's leasing of aircraft and ocean freight equipment.

January 2018 — Healthcare stocks tumble after Amazon, JPMorgan, and Berkshire Hathaway announce collaboration to reduce costs for US workers

While the three companies weren't specific about what kind of enterprise they aim to create, noting only that they wanted to improve employee satisfaction while reducing costs, the announcement reverberated through the stock market.

Managed care and pharmacy providers absorbed the brunt of the selling, with companies including MetLife, Express Scripts, and UnitedHealth seeing large share drops that accounted for billions of dollars in lost value.

June 2017 — Grocery stocks slide after Amazon announces $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods … and then again two months later after price cuts are announced

Amazon hit grocery stocks with a double-whammy of weakness in this particular instance, causing an initial drop after announcing its mega-acquisition of Whole Foods, then reigniting selling two months later after cutting prices.

The companies affected included Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market, Target, and Walmart, which fell anywhere from 2% to 8% on the various reports.

June 2017 — Athletic apparel retailers slide after report that Amazon was going to partner with Nike

In June 2017, Goldman Sachs published a report speculating that Nike was "close" to commencing a direct relationship selling product on Amazon.com. That caused selling in both athletic apparel manufacturers, as well as retail chains.

The companies affected included Dick's Sporting Goods, Under Armour, and Foot Locker.

June 2017 — Pharmaceutical supply chain stocks decline after Amazon's purchase of Whole Foods spurred speculation it could eventually get into healthcare

Clearly the market was prescient in this instance, considering the aforementioned team-up between Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan, and the resulting selloff in healthcare stocks.

Back in June, when the Whole Foods acquisition was announced, CVS, Walgreens, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, McKesson, and Express Scripts all lost between 1% and 5%.

NDLEA Urges Gombe Traditional, Religious Leaders To Preach Against Drug Abuse

NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Gombe State Command, has called on  traditional rulers and religious leaders to preach against drug abuse, especially among youths in the state.

The Commander of the agency in the state, Mr Aliyu Adole, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Friday.

Adole also advised politicians to stop giving hard drugs and other psychotropic substances to the youths.

He said the youths needed to be advised against drug abuse as the practice was not good for their health.

According to him, some youths got out of control when they took drugs, hence both religious and traditional leaders needed to advice them against the act.

He also called on elders and parents to inculcate good behaviour in youths in the state.

“So, everybody in the community should assist NDLEA and youths in Gombe State to get out of drug abuse,” the commander said.(

Court Dissolves 20-Year-Old Marriage Over Husband’s Refusal To Pay Child’s School Fees

An Idi-Ogungun Customary Court in Agodi, Ibadan, on Friday dissolved  the 20-year-old marriage between one Funmilayo and Babatunde Abiodun, over  the husband’s refusal to pay one of his children’s SSCE fees.

Funmilayo had approached the court for the dissolution of the marriage that produced four children over negligence of responsibility on the part of her husband.
In his ruling, the court’s President, Chief Mukaila Balogun, said that the evidence by both parties had proven that there was no more love in the relationship.
Balogun said the court was handicapped in resolving the dispute between the couple since both had agreed to path ways.
He dissolved the marriage and gave the custody of two of the four children to the defendant.

According to the president, the two children who are over 18 years of age should be in the custody of their father under the law.
He also ordered the remaining two children who are below 18 years to remain with the plaintiff.

The court ordered the defendant to be paying N8, 000 monthly to the plaintiff for the upkeep of the two children that would be in her custody.

The court also directed the defendant to be responsible for the school fees of the four children, henceforth.

Earlier, Funmilayo, 42, had told the court that she left her matrimonial home about five years ago due to maltreatment from her husband.

She said the defendant neglected his responsibility as a father, which made her to shoulder the payment of the children’s school fees, feeding and other responsibilities alone.

“My lord, I decided to divorce him because he had refused to pay the SSCE fees of our second born.

“I do not want him in my life again and I urge the court to compel him to be alive to his responsibility,” Funmilayo said.

The defendant, Abiodun, did not object to the dissolution of the marriage, but pleaded with the court to give him the custody of the four children.
Abiodun, 49, however, accused his wife of committing adultery and that he had tried to satisfy her to the best of his ability.
