Relationship Goals: 5 attributes of a power couple

How to manage finances as a couple

A power couple is made up of a man and a woman who are individually doing exploits and together they are great.

A power couple is made up of a man and a woman who are individually doing exploits and together they are great.

Power couple are amiable because both individuals are worthy of emulation and lot of people look up to them. So incase you and your spouse aspire to be a power couple here are five attributes of a power couple you must know

They are great individually

This is one strong quality of a power couple. As individuals they are great at whatever they do and are not necessarily dependent. A good example is Fela and Tara Durotoye. Power couples are unique in their different ways.

They are great together

Imagine two great forces combining together. This is the exact picture of a power couple. Not only are the great on their own, but they are also great together. Although one might slightly have more recognition than the other the fact remains that together they form a great team. They understand team spirit.

Support each other

There is nothing like the support of the one you love. The support will definitely keep you going and aspiring to do more. They look up to their partner for support whenever it's needed. They got each other's back.

No bad blood

This is one great attribute of a power couple. Regardless of how well one is doing, the other won't be envious rather they see their partner's success as their own also. They acknowledge that they are not in a competition. They understand that envy will get them nowhere rather encouragement and determination will.

They are Influencers

They influence even the smallest community they are in. They have a vision and are driven by it and they have a mindset to make a change.

The truth is that most power couples of today did not start out as power couples. Over the years, the drive from their spouse as well as their own personal determination earned them the title "power couple" They did not become power couple overnight.

There would have been a lot behind the scene but the most important thing is that they have each other and that to them is greatness. You and your spouse can also be a power couple.

Minister Apologises To Nigerians Over Buhari’s Appointment of Dead Persons

Buhari

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has urged football stakeholders to remain calm over some appointments into the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board by the Federal Government.

Dalung, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said efforts were being made to correct an oversight made following the recent appointments into the NFF board.

The Federal government had announced the appointments on Friday of over 1,000 members, including 209 board Chairmen.

They are to fill positions on the boards of government parastatals, including the NFF and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Others are the National Institute for Sports and the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre which are all under the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Dalung, in the statement released by Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, his Special Assistant on Media, said the appointment of members into the NFF board by government was an oversight.

“By virtue of their (NFF) statutes, members are elected and not appointed.

“The appointments were an oversight which is being sorted out. NFF is governed by statutes and board members are elected by congress and not appointed.

“I am appealing for calm from all stakeholders as it was an administrative oversight. Efforts are tailored towards addressing it very soon.”

The Minister also stated that government and football’s world governing body FIFA were in talks to clarify the issue and assure them that no harm was intended.

“I have spoken with the FIFA General Secretary over the situation in Nigeria and conveyed Federal Government’s commitment to upholding the governance structure of the NFF.

“All efforts are on course to liaise with CAF and FIFA on constructive engagement that the situation may likely attract.

“The current board of NFF under Amaju Pinnick has provided leadership but their performance is subject to a congress and not appointment,’’ Dalung stated.

Cleric Accuses United Nations Of Anti-Christian Stance

Daddy Hezekiah

Nnewi – Most Reverend Professor Daddy Hezekiah, founder of Living Christ Mission and Proprietor of Hezekiah University, Umudi, Imo State, has accused the United Nations of anti-Christianity stance.

The cleric noted that the body’s current opposition to the declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital by United States President Donald Trump leaves much to be desired.

He urged all Christians in the world to continue to pray for Donald Trump not to relent on the declaration.

Most Reverend Professor Hezekiah made these assertions while preaching during the celebration of his golden jubilee in the Lord held at his church headquarters, Owelebo, Onitsha.

Professor Hezekiah said it baffles him the way the world body reacts quickly to issues concerning Muslims and foot drags when it concerns Christians, urging UN to allow Israel have Jerusalem as its capital as is written in the Bible.

He appealed to states and the Federal Government to rise up quickly and alleviate the harsh condition of the masses.

While acknowledging President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption, the cleric said that there is the need for the fight to be all-inclusive and ensure that there is no sacred cow.

He called on state governments to embark on the revival of ailing industries in order to create jobs for the youths and reduce youth restiveness, unemployment, violence, cultism, crimes, etc.

Obasanjo should repent before he dies ―Prophet

Founder, Christ for All Peoples Church, Ojoo, Lagos State, Prophet Samuel Oyadara, has called on former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to repent and beg God for forgiveness of his sins before he dies, as he urged the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pray against plot to assassinate him in 2018.

According to Prophet Oyadara, in his 2018 predictions released to Tribune online, the message to the former president is a warning from God.

The prophet also called on vice President Yemi Osinbajo to pray seriously in order to overcome evil machinations of his enemies.

“God is warning Obasanjo to repent before he dies. Osinbajo needs to pray hard to escape plan of the enemies. Tinubu should pray against assassination,” he said, just as the cleric charged the Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, to pray against accident in the New Year 2018.

Giving further predictions, the man of God said in his message concerning the 2019 that if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was committed to realising his presidential ambition, he would need to conquer his strong political enemies through fervent prayers.

This is just as Oyadara, who claimed that there is no God’s anointed presidential candidate for 2019, said God revealed to him that President Muhammadu Buhari would be working towards rallying strong political forces in the North to make him win his 2nd Term as president of Nigeria in 2019.

“What Atiku Abubakar must do if he wants to rule Nigeria is that he would need to conquer his strong political enemies through serious prayers,” Oyadara said.

Oyadara, further in his predictions, said in 2018, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would become strong again, declaring: “I saw PDP umbrella rising up,” while he predicted that a former president, who he did not mention, would fall sick in the coming year.

According to him, also in the new year, many of Nigerian fake pastors would be exposed and many of the serving leaders now would in near future forfeit their properties to government.

On the foreign scene, Oyadara warned that China, USA, Australia and Japan should pray against natural disasters in 2018, saying that they needed prayers to avert such ugly occurrences

Tackle resurgence of slave trade in Nigeria now ―NRCS boss warns FG

NIGERIA leaders have been urged to take proactive measures to avert the resurgence of the mass slave trade in the country.

Speaking in Awka, the state Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Red Cross Society, Professor Peter Katchy, enjoined the Federal Government to ensure effective enforcement of existing laws to curb illegal migration of Nigerians to protect them from the harrowing experience in the hands of human traffickers.

Katchy lamented that the slave market in Libya has become very lucrative with cartels expanding in the bestial trade on daily basis, while some unscrupulous Nigerians are deeply involved in the inhuman activities.

He explained that many Nigerian Youths in addition to obvious unemployment in the country are driven into illegal migration by the perceived need to elevate themselves from poverty under the illusion and misguided belief that life is always rosy abroad but are often disappointed after disposing of their merge resource.

Professor Kachy pointed out that the Federal Government is yet to provide basic infrastructure and environment to encourage entrepreneurship and increase investments that would create job opportunities and wealth creation thereby exposing the Youths to exploitation, blackmail, discrimination and trafficking as is presently the case in Libya.

While cautioning Youths against the get rich quick syndrome, he warned that the present practice of sailing vital organs like kidney, if not checked, would soon cause kidney failure epidemic and condemned the flagrant display of wealth by some people and abuse of the social system which, he pointed out is creating wrong role model in the society.

He called for a mass re-orientation of Nigerians on the need to uphold discipline, rule of law and promotion of national integrity, while the Federal Government should develop policies and programmes that will promote human resource development.

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Daniel Ikeazor, called for more investment in the Agricultural sector to ensure effective harnessing of its abundant potential for the creation of more employment opportunities for the teeming Youths.

Buhari: Presidency outlines 17 key achievements in 2017

President says Nigeria must regain its pride in food exportation

Special Adviser President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, listed 17 Achievements of the Buhari-led administration on his facebook page

On Friday, the Special Adviser President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, listed 17 Achievements of the Buhari-led administration on his facebook page. They are:

1. Nigeria exited its worst recession in decades. After five quarters of negative growth, the economy bounced back into positive territory. Agriculture was one of the stars of 2017, posting consistent growth levels even throughout the recession. Also, Inflation fell for ten consecutive months during 2017 (February to November).

2. The Naira stabilised against the dollar, after the Central Bank introduced a new forex window for Investors and Exporters. The stability has attracted billions of dollars in portfolio investments since April 2017.

3. On the back of a stable Naira and increased investment inflows, Nigeria’s stock market emerged one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40 percent.

4. Nigeria saw bumper food harvests, especially in rice, whose local production continues to rise significantly (States like Ebonyi, Kebbi, Kano leading the pack, with Ogun joining at the end of 2017). The price of a 50kg bag of rice – a staple in the country – has fallen by about 30 percent since the beginning of 2017, as local production has gone up.

5. The Federal Government launched a 701 billion Naira Intervention Fund (‘Payment Assurance Programme’) aimed at supporting power generation companies to meet their payment obligations to gas and equipment suppliers, banks and other partners. The impact is being felt, the amount of power being distributed is now currently steady at around 4,000MW – higher than previously recorded.

6. The Federal Government began paying pensions to police officers who were granted Presidential pardon in 2000 after serving in the former Biafran Police during the Nigerian Civil War. These officers, and their next of kin, have waited for their pensions for 17 years since the Presidential pardon.

7. Nigeria rose 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings, and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.

8. Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves grew by $12 billion, reaching the highest level since 2014. Nigeria also added, this year, an additional $250m to its Sovereign Wealth Fund. Also, Nigeria’s trade balance crossed over into surplus territory, from a deficit in 2016.

9. Nigeria successfully issued two Eurobonds (US$4.5bn), a Sukuk Bond (100 billion Naira), a Diaspora Bond (US$300m), and the first Sovereign Climate Bond in Africa, raising billions of dollars for infrastructure spending.

10. The Federal Government launched a Tax Amnesty scheme expected to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in additional revenues when it closes in March 2018.

11. The Federal Government successfully commenced implementation of a Whistleblowing Programme that has so far seen recoveries of tens of millions of dollars.

12. The Social Investment Programme – Nigeria’s most ambitious social welfare programme ever – rolled out across dozens of states. (Currently, 5.2 million primary school children in 28,249 schools in 19 states are being fed daily; 200,000 unemployed graduated enlisted into the Npower Job Scheme, and a quarter of a million loans already distributed to artisans, traders, and farmers).

13. The number of Nigerians facing food insecurity in the northeast dropped by half, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

14. The Nigeria Customs Service recorded its highest-ever revenue collection, crossing the One Trillion Naira (N1,000,000,000) mark. [The target for 2017 was 770 billion Naira (N770,573,730,490); 2016 Collection was just under 900 billion (N898,673,857,431.07)]

15. The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted 7.8 billion Naira to the coffers of the Federal Government. The total amount remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016 was 51 million Naira.

16. 2017 was also the Year of Nigeria’s Agriculture Revolution, embodied by the successes of the Presidential Fertiliser Initiative (PFI) and the Anchor Borrowers Programme. More than a dozen moribund fertilizer blending plants were revived under the PFI this year.

17. Finally, 2017 will be the Year that laid the foundation for a 2018 that will be Nigeria’s Year of Infrastructure. A number of important infrastructure projects, in power, rail and road, are scheduled to come on-stream or inch close to completion next year.

There have been mixed reactions following the post.

Presidency explains presence of dead people on board appointments

THE presidency on Saturday explained the reasons why there are names of dead people on the list of newly appointed chairmen and members of the board of government parastatals and agencies released on Friday.
Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, gave the history of the list, saying that it was prepared before President Muhammadu Buhari took ill and was released by the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha without any alteration.
He said the president requested for the submission of 50 names each by the state chapters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015 which were later complied by the national secretariat of the party.
Subsequently, he revealed, the names were submitted to the then SGF, Babachir Lawal.
He added: “However, complaint arose from some governors who felt they were not carried along in the process. To answer this, the president constituted a committee under the vice president to review and reflect the interest of the governors.”
The presidential aide noted that action on the report submitted to the president by the committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was delayed because of President Buhari’s illness and his subsequent medical vacation abroad.
“The president’s trips for medical attention slowed down completion of the process,” he said.
The presidential spokesman said the president only decided to revisit the matter recently and therefore directed the new SGF to release the list.
“The current SGF was only directed to complete that process by releasing the list which he apparently did without altering it,” he stated.
The Presidency maintained that the appearance of dead person names was a mistake which would be corrected.
The president approved the constitution of the Governing Boards of Agencies and Parastatals, under some Ministries, as well as the appointment of eminently qualified Nigerians to fill the Board positions.

It is made up of 209 chairmen and 1,258 members.

According to a statement issued by SGF, in Abuja on Friday said the President considered the approval for the constitution of the Boards as well as the appointments as they were “very necessary, so as to provide a proper Governance and oversight structure for Government Agencies and Parastatals.”

The statement added: “The constitution of the boards with the appointments, is a demonstration of this Government’s efforts aimed at building strong institutions of Governance, and by extension, improving the quality of Policy formulation and supervision.

“While these appointments represent a substantial number of hitherto pending board appointments, some more appointments are still being processed and will be released in due course.

“The appointments take immediate effect and Honourable Ministers are advised to inaugurate the boards after letters of appointment have been issued.”

Sports: Here's how LeBron James stays in incredible shape

null

James says he eats very healthy and works out 5-7 days per week.

Business Insider's US Editor-In-Chief, Alyson Shontell, sat down with LeBron James in August of 2016. James revealed his workout and diet routine.

Unlike the thousands of calories swimmer Michael Phelps eats to train, James sticks to a pretty healthy diet.

"Before competition for me would be like a chicken breast and maybe a little pasta. The carbs help because you're going out and playing a lot of minutes," James told Business Insider. "But a salad and some veggies will have me perfectly fine. And before the game I might have a protein shake and some fruit, and I'll be ready to go. But as far as pies or pizza and sandwiches and french fries — I can't. I'll wait for that after the game. I can't do that before the game."

As for his workout schedule, James says he works out about 5 days a week in the off-season and 7 days per week when basketball starts back up.

James likes to mix up the way he exercises and throws in a few classes on top of traditional gym workouts.

"My workout regimen is pretty much five times a week, every day. And it varies," James told Business Insider. "Sometimes I stay at home and work out. Sometimes I'll go to an actual class. I've been to, like, VersaClimber classes, or spinning classes. I do pilates as well. So, it kind of varies depending on how I'm feeling.

"During the season, we're playing basketball every single day, and we're working on our bodies every day. So I don't get the opportunity to do the classes as much because we're doing a lot of traveling. But my workout regimen is pretty consistent then as well. It's mostly seven days a week during the season because we play games on the weekend."

WAEC: Exam to be 100 per cent technology driven in 2018 – Council

Exam to be 100 per cent technology driven in 2018 - Council

The council said it has organised series of retreats for both management staff and the workforce in preparatory to deploy technology in its operations.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will sensitise and train its workforce on key areas of technology deployment in order to improve its operations in 2018.

The council's Head, National Office (HNO), Mr. Olu Adenipekun disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.

According to him, the council has organised series of retreats for both management staff and the workforce in preparatory to deploy technology in its operations.

He said, "We have worked hard in sensitising the workforce of the council and prepare their minds because it is one thing for one to strive to do something.

"But if the people that drives the system are not attuned psychologically, to doing that all such efforts will be fruitless.

"So, we want to prepare our psyche on the need to sharpen our tools in preparation to move over to a 100 per cent technologically driven WAEC and of course we have done that and we are going full blast".

The HNO noted that already, the council's budget for 2018 has been fully designed to support the introduction of technology into the various aspects of its operation in Nigeria.

He explained that the move would put WAEC at the level it was expected to be in the comity of examination bodies worldwide.

"Members of staff of the council must be able to go beyond being a staff of the ICT Department. Even if one is a messenger, one should be able to ask how he can deploy technology to carry out his duties and this applies to all other operational components of council.

"So, this is an era where we are looking at 2018 as a year where we will be deploying technology in all facets of our operations, not just in conducting examination, processing of results and printing of certificates but in all areas of our operations," the HNO said.

On the possibility of introducing Computer Based Test (CBT) platform for its examination, Adenipekun said that the CBT was not an examination mode that was limited to any particular examination body.

According to him, WAEC also has a section called the Aptitude Test department that can equally use the CBT platform in conducting examination for candidates.

He, however, said that the main point was that the mandate of WAEC makes it difficult to go the whole hug as it was different from that of other examination bodies like JAMB.

"It will interest you to know that WAEC conducts achievement tests to ascertain the level of achievement of a candidate or student after attending secondary school for a six-year period.

"So, if you want to test knowledge for English Language for instance, we do so without bringing about any complications.

"We are aware of the operational environment. WAEC examination is not a selection test, it is an achievement test and so in doing that, we will have to deploy all facilities available to ensure that we help that particular candidate to prove himself or herself," he said.

The WAEC boss explained that if in a school, a candidate or student has not been exposed to the use of a computer in any form for the six years he has been attending school, it would be unfair to subject such candidate to the CBT platform in an examination.

"So what we are then doing as an organisation and as part of our step forward is to come out and encourage state governors, school owners, communities, individuals and of course the generality of education stakeholders on the need to see how we can encourage secondary schools.

"This, we should do starting from Junior Secondary 1, to see how students can deploy computers in writing their internal examination.

"Once we are able to identify schools that are favourably disposed to this and we are convinced that they can meet our terms, we will start looking in the direction of introducing them to some aspects of our examinations which is the objective questions, which can be done on the CBT platform to start with.

"We have some papers that have three components and others two. Those with two components, objective and essay and for schools that are ready for CBT, we should be able within the next two years to encourage them to present their candidates," Adenipekun said.
