Using The Back Door: 5 wrong ideas about anal sex you may believe

The glorious back room entrance.

Anal sex is still a taboo subject but if you're looking for misconceptions about it? We've got you…

In this part of the world we are skeptical about discussing anything sexual. Penetrative sex? Maybe, oral sex? Maybe not yet, anal sex? Don’t even think about it, it’s abominable.

It’s vehemently frowned upon but some people are ahead of their time, and have already started participating in it, and it is not as bad as it has been put forward by several people.

As with anything in life, people will always partake in things that are unpopular things at the time. In a matter of time, it will become mainstream but if you’re still on the fence of the matter, Cosmopolitan sat down with Dr. Kat Van Kirk, a family therapist, and clinical sexologist to talk about the myths about anal sex, and why it’s not a bad idea.

ALSO READ: 5 things about sex that married people understand better than anyone

Wrong Idea 1: Only sluts have anal sex

Fact: You must have heard this before, that people who do anal sex are those who are really bad because it is  taboo subject. In studies, it is voted first place taboo sexual experimentation anyone wants to try. They’re trying something new, that’s all. If you’re not so judgemental, you can try it yourself.

Wrong Idea 2: It must be painful

Fact: It doesn’t have to be painful at all. People get too excited about these things and don’t do things right, and that’s why they turn out to be hurtful. A lot of women who enjoy can attest to it, anal orgasm is also doable. It’s advised that you and your partner start slow, make sure there is adequate lube and you work it slowly. Begin with fingers well lubricated, pain won’t even show up all through.

Wrong Idea 3: He won’t respect you after that

Fact: That may not be the case, because anal sex is something that is still a taboo among society and popular culture, it may be the other way around. You’re part of the pioneer of something new, something fresh. So, it may even help you guys get closer rather than pull you apart.

ALSO READ: 7 regular foods you don’t know is bad for your sex life

Wrong Idea 4: If it hurts once, it’ll always be like that

Fact: This is from people who have tried it before, and was unsuccessful in their first attempt, and have closed the door on it. Well, it was bad, but you can start small, don’t go big dick at once, use the fingers, small dildos and don’t forget the lubes.

Wrong Idea 5: It’s the end of sexual problems

Fact: A lot of people think anal sex is the supreme sex that a lady can allow. Like men hold it in high esteem. So, in dating or marriage, ladies feel that if they give up the ass then things should get better. Sadly, if there are other issues that have been thrashed out in the relationship, those issues will remain even if the only sex you have with your part is anal.

The Head, Information Technology, NCC, Mr Abraham Oshadami, told newsmen in Lagos at the presentation of the awards won by the commission for its strong online presence.

He said that it was fascinating to receive such an award and the commission would do all it could to improve on its service delivery in all aspects.

On behalf of the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC and the entire staff, we appreciate Phillips Consulting Web Jurist for the recognition.

“We want to make sure our website is very attractive and informative,’’ Oshadami said.

The Senior Partner, Phillips Consulting Nig, Mr Oluwaseun Ngonnase, said that the firm had been assessing organisations’ websites in the last 16 years.

Ngonnase said that the Web Jurist rating and award was an initiative of Phillips Consulting aimed at measuring the effectiveness of websites in organisations.

He said that the assessment was to ensure continuous enhancement of electronic business activities and encourage better web communications practice.

Ngonnesa said for the 2017 awards, the consulting firm carried out a detailed evaluation of the websites of 210 organisations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 210 organisations include 20 commercial banks, 103 federal government parastatals, 29 state governments, 47 insurance companies, four telecommunication companies and seven indigenous airlines.

He said that winners were selected in categories that included aesthetics; technical aspects, website content, e-financial services, customer experience and performance.

UN says over 5.5m displaced across Horn of Africa by end 2017

UN says 5.5 million people were displaced across the Horn of Africa by the end of December 2017, including around 4.1 million internally displaced and 1.4 million living in the region as refugees and asylum seekers.

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in a report on Tuesday, said in its humanitarian outlook that the Horn of Africa remains a major migration transit route including to and from the Arabian Peninsula and to Europe.

Ocha said: “the Horn of Africa is both the host and the source of significant population displacement and mixed migration movements, and this is expected to continue in the first six months of 2018.

“The combination of drought, conflict and insecurity have worsened protection concerns, with violations against civilians, including sexual and gender-based violence as well as against children, expected to continue in the months ahead.”

According to the report, in addition to climatic shocks — and in some instances compounded or driven by them — conflict, insecurity and political instability remain important drivers of humanitarian need in the region.

The report said food insecurity escalated by 36 percent in 2017, leaving 14.6 million people severely food insecure by the end of the year.

The report said humanitarian needs in the Horn of Africa remain high, driven by climatic shocks, conflict, insecurity and political instability.

The UN said the region is expected to remain the epicenter of food insecurity and malnutrition in the first six months of 2018.

“Across the Horn of Africa, nearly 5.2 million children and women were estimated to be acutely malnourished by the end of 2017 and 639,718 severely malnourished children were admitted for treatment during the year,” it said.

In Somalia, the report said, 1.2 million children and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition from September 2017 to September, including 230,000 children who are projected to be severely acutely malnourished during this period.

“In Ethiopia, 3.6 million children and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) were acutely malnourished in 2017,” said the UN.

In Kenya, the report said, 370,000 children required treatment for acute malnutrition in the drought-affected Arid and Semi-Arid Land areas as of the end of 2017.

Folio Communications petitions Buhari, Saraki, others over DTN

By Iruoma Kelechi

The management of Folio Communications Limited, owners of Daily Times of Nigeria (DTN) has petitioned President Muhammdu Buhari saying that there are plans to change the ownership of DTN.

In the petition titled “Urgent Appeal to Investigate and Address Gross Injustice, Abuse of Office and Connivance by Police High Command and Corporate Affairs Commission to Destroy Daily Times of Nigeria,” Folio alleged that Ikechukwu Obiora is using the Police to arrest both management and staff of DTN as well as circulating documents in an attempt to annex landed properties of the company.

The petition which was dated  January 24, 2018, and signed by the Chairman of Folio Communications, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, narrated how DTN offices in Abuja and Lagos were raided and ransacked with the Publisher, Group Managing Director, many line staff and reporters arrested and detained for many days.

Apart from the President, Anosike also petitioned the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Speakerof the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Chairman Police Service Commission.

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Newspaper Proprietors of Nigeria (NPAN) were also copied.

In the petition, Anosike said Folio Communications Limited bided for and bought DTN in a widely publicised and privatisation process executed by the Federal Government and that DTN was duly handed over to Folio Communications Limited in September 2014.

He said a minority shareholder in DTN later relinquished such minority shares to a company in which Ikechukwu Obiora had interest.

The Petition reads: ‘’Obiora has initiated several criminal cases against us and DTN, all of which have been dismissed including by a Lagos State High Court, a Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal. In dismissing the cases, the courts expressly declared that the issues in dispute are purely civil and not criminal in nature.

“We wish to inform Mr. President that the Police High Command played active roles in the abuse and victimisation of the Publisher, management and staff of DTN with direct supervision of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Force Investigation and Intelligence Department.

“It is important to state here that DTN was completely dead before Folio Communications Limited bought it through a transparent privatisation process. All of its equipment was unserviceable. We have over the years invested billions of Naira to resuscitate and reposition DTN and make it a brand. The intention is to restore its lost glory as the face of Nigeria and viable brand.

“The activities of Ikechukwu Obiora in connivance with the Police and Corporate Affairs Commission has had and continued to have a huge but negative impact on the progress of DTN. Such impunities meted against investors by privileged individuals and authorities like the Nigerian Police and Corporate Affairs Commission should be of grave concern to the government as they combine to scare away genuine investors at a time that the Federal Government is putting much efforts and resources to positively change the perception of Nigeria and Ease of Doing Business in the country,” the petition stated.

“We have gone through many legal battles over the years on this same matter both civil and criminal most of which were initiated by Ikechukwu Obiora, in spite of the Consent Judgement arising from the amicable settlement of April 2006.

“It is however of importance to state that we have won all the cases so far while others are pending at the High Courts and the Court of Appeal. In the same vein, the courts have dismissed all criminal prosecutions initiated against us by Ikechukwu while declaring that issues arising from the suits are civil and not criminal, yet he remains unabated.’’

Among his prayers to the President was a directive to the Inspector General of Police to halt the arrest, detention and abuse of the Publisher, management and staff of Daily Times of Nigeria; the Inspector General of Police release, without further delay all management, line staff and reporters working with Daily Times of Nigeria; direct either the Vice President or the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) or anybody of his choice, to carry out a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the matter.

On the part of the Senate and House of Representatives, the petition sought for a Public Hearing where the parties can present their claims before Nigerians in order to save Daily Times of Nigeria.

Paddy Adenuga: Billionaire son almost acquired Chevron for $50 million at the age of 29

paddy-adenuga

Mike Adenuga Jnr. pens a long inspiring blog post thriller, about his attempt to play in the big leagues of oil & gas with the acquisition of a Chevron asset in Netherlands.

Billionaire son Mike Adenuga Jnr. has published a long post detailing how he took on international oil companies in a bid to buy Chevron Netherlands.

The business thriller story titled: “A lion in the North sea: The battle for Chevron Netherlands” on his wordpress blog, starts with how he left his father’s business empire to strike it rich on his own. He came up a ‘trojan horse’ idea of acquiring a foreign oil exploration and production firm and market it to African oil majors in Angola, Equitorial Guinea and Nigeria, as a technical partner.

Though, only 29 at the time, he had acquired experience serving in the capacity of group executive director at his father’s oil firm ConOil, and overseen ConOil Producing’s $1.3 billion successful bid for Shell Nigeria’s OML 30 oil block.

He was armed and ready to go.

Trojan Horse

He wrote: “Most of the oil producing nations in sub-Saharan Africa such as Nigeria, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea would always require any investor into oil & gas assets in their country to either be an oil & gas operator with production on stream or be partnered with an operator, deemed a “technical partner”. This logic makes sense. If you are going to buy prized national assets, you should have the know how to develop and operate them or at least be partnered with an entity that does. I decided that I was going to use a Trojan Horse strategy. I had read ancient Greek literature when I’d attended military academy in Texas and it served as inspiration. I would acquire an oil & gas operating company in Europe (the Trojan Horse), where the political barriers and costs to entry in comparison to Africa would be significantly lower. I would then use this newly acquired company, which would now be of Afro-European in heritage, to become a technical partner to many local and international investors in the upstream oil & gas business in Africa. This company would be the first of its kind and likely the most sought-after oil & gas company on the African continent because of its unique DNA and ownership. After thinking of this idea, I took myself out to a bar a few blocks from my house and ordered myself a nice strong drink. I felt like a genius.

The lengthy post shed much light on the intriguing world of oil and gas deal making and ambitions of the rich and powerful. His personal quest to make a name for himself outside his father’s shadow set him on a business trips crisscrossing between London, Switzerland and the U.S.

Eventually opportunity came when Paddy got wind of information that Chevron Netherlands was offloading its assets. He assembled a world class management team of oil & gas veterans and put out a bid for the Chevron asset.

When he presented himself at Dutch government office to show his interest in the bid, he wrote: "I finally met Jan-Dirk at his offices with his head of operations, Thijs. I could see in both their faces, looks of confusion and reverence at the same time. How could a 29-year-old Nigerian have found himself in a position to buy Chevron’s business in the Netherlands? I told Jan-Dirk and Thijs of my intentions and that I took this bid seriously and wanted to make sure that I did everything right in the eyes of not only Chevron but the Dutch government. They both assured me that I was on the right track and that if there was any issue, they would let me know. I spent a few more days in Amsterdam, met up with a few friends, and enjoyed the Dutch nightlife and hospitality. I flew back to London.

George Weah: Liberian president pledges salary cut as economy stutters

President will divert some of his wages to a development fund and seek to allow foreign ownership of property

President George Weah of Liberia pledged to cut his salary by 25 percent on Monday, in a nationwide address in which he warned of tough times ahead for a “broke” country.

This development comes after Liberia's revenue fell last year in the country's bid to recover from the worst outbreak of Ebola yet.

Mr. Weah says the government’s income dropped 13 percent to $489.1 million in 2017 from 2016.

Addressing lawmakers in his first state-of-the-nation address he pledged to reduce his pay and benefits by a quarter. The President of Liberia earns about $100,000 yearly, meaning that Weah will relinquish about $25,000.

“The state of the economy that my administration has inherited leaves a lot to be desired. This is plain for all to see. We’re all affected by it.“Our economy is broken; our government is broke. Our currency is in free fall; inflation is rising.” Unemployment is at an unprecedented high and our foreign reserves are at an all-time ”low,” Mr. Weah said.

After averaging economic growth of about 8 percent from 2006 to 2013, Liberia’s economic fortunes plummeted as a more than yearlong Ebola outbreak at its peak infected as many as 400 people a week and resulted in the deaths of more than 11,200 in the country and neighboring Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The West African nation’s gross domestic product contracted by 1.6 percent in 2016, according to World Bank data.

The government wants to implement a $3 billion infrastructure investment plan and will propose a constitutional amendment to allow the foreign ownership of land and property, Weah said.

Morocco Presents Draft African Agenda On Migration To AU

Morocco

Morocco on Monday introduced a draft African Agenda on Migration at the 30th Summit of AU in Addis Ababa.

According to the Moroccan official MAP news agency reported, the draft Agenda was laid out in a message from King Mohammed VI that was read out by the Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Othmani.

The king, who was appointed at the 28th AU Summit as Leader of the African Union on the Question of Migration, said in the message that the agenda was drawn up using an inclusive and participatory approach.

“It is a flexible, scalable and legally non-binding document. More than anything else, it should serve to inspire our future action regarding this question,” he stressed.

“The African Agenda on Migration is based on the idea that we need to know the full range of dimensions involved in the migration phenomenon in order to understand it properly,” he said.

In this regard, the king called for adopting a positive stance on the issue of migration by highlighting the humanistic rationale of shared responsibility and solidarity.

He noted that there is no massive influx of African migrants, since the latter account for only 3.4 per cent of the world population.

He added that African migration is essentially intra-African as 4 out of 5 African migrants remain in the Continent.

Othmani suggested the setting up of an African Migration Observatory to develop observation and the exchange of information between African countries in order to promote controlled management of migration flows.

The king also called for the creation of a post of AU Special Envoy for Migration, who would be tasked with coordinating AU policies in this area.

Since Morocco’s king was appointed Leader of the African Union on the Question of Migration, the north African kingdom had hosted several meeting on the elaboration of a shared African Agenda on migration.

Politics: Melania Trump was reportedly blindsided by reports a lawyer paid porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged encounter with Donald Trump

Melania Trump

The first lady canceled plans to join Trump on a trip to Davos amid the reports, but she plans to appear by his side at his first State of the Union address.

  • First Lady Melania Trump was reportedly blindsided by a bombshell report that a lawyer paid porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged encounter with Donald Trump.
  • Melania was reportedly furious about the revelation, canceling plans to join the president on a trip to Davos.
  • She is expected to appear by Trump's side at his first State of the Union address on Tuesday.

First Lady Melania Trump was reportedly blindsided by the bombshell report that President Donald Trump's lawyer previously arranged a payment to Stephanie Clifford, a porn star who goes by the stage name "Stormy Daniels," to keep her from publicly disclosing an alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump.

Melania was furious at the president, two people close to the Trumps said in a New York Times report published on Monday.

The alleged sexual encounter, first reported in The Wall Street Journal, alleged that Michael Cohen, the president's longtime attorney, had arranged a payment of $130,000 to Daniels, a month before the 2016 US presidential election. Following the report, celebrity gossip magazine InTouch published a seven-year-old interview with Daniels, in which the former porn star described an alleged encounter with the president.

The Trump administration has denied the allegation. Cohen shared what he said was a letter from Daniels, dated January 10, 2018, denying she was paid to keep quiet about the alleged incident.

The first lady's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, criticized reports surrounding Melania Trump's behavior of late, calling it "salacious and flat-out false."

Following the reports of the alleged sexual encounters, Melania unexpectedly dropped out of a two-day trip with the president to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum, where he met with, and addressed world leaders.

The first lady made an unexpected trip to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington instead, ahead of the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance.

Despite her recent absence from the public spotlight, the first lady is expected to attend the president's first State of the Union address on Tuesday, where Trump will deliver a speech on "building a safe, strong and proud America."

  • CIA Director Mike Pompeo was interviewed by the BBC on Monday and answered questions about Russia's possible interference in the 2018 midterm elections.
  • Pompeo said he expects Russia to try to meddle in the midterm elections and that he hasn't seen any diminishing attempts on their part.
  • Pompeo also discussed the conflict with North Korea, Trump's tough rhetoric, and Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury."

CIA Director Mike Pompeo said in an interview with the BBC on Monday that he expects Russia to try to meddle in the 2018 midterm elections.

"I have every expectation that they will continue to try and do that," Pompeo told BBC reporter Gordon Corera. "But I'm confident that America will be able to have a free and fair election (and) that we will push back in a way that is sufficiently robust that the impact they have on our election won't be great."

Pompeo also told the BBC that, despite some cooperation on anti-terrorism efforts, he views Russia as an adversary, stressing that they are still trying to influence the US and Europe.

The CIA director also answered questions about the conflict with North Korea, President Donald Trump's rhetoric, and Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury."

"We talk about [Kim Jong Un] having the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon to the United States in a matter of a handful of months," Pompeo told the BBC. The CIA director said his job is to provide Trump with intelligence that will deliver "a set of options that continue to take down that risk by non-diplomatic means."

Pompeo said there are many "possible” ways to remove Kim from power, and, concerning Trump's tough rhetoric, that North Korea's leader "understands the message that America is serious."

When asked about Wolff's book "Fire and Fury," Pompeo called it "absurd."

"I haven't read the book. I don't intend to," Pompeo said, adding that the "claim that the president isn't engaged and doesn't have a grasp on these important issues is dangerous and false and it saddens me that someone would have taken the time to write such drivel."

"He is very focused in the sense that he is curious about the facts that we present. He is curious in the sense he wants to understand why we believe them," Pompeo said.

Wolff's book allegedly quotes a number of Trump's advisers and cabinet members who questioned the president's intelligence.

For example, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson allegedly called him a "f—ing idiot" and National Economics Council Director Gary Cohn called him "dumb as s—."

Fayose: God directed me to pick my deputy as successor – Governor

God directed me to pick my deputy as successor - Fayose

Fayose, who spoke at the rally held at Okesa area, said that he was not rattled by the negative utterances hurled at him by the anti-Olusola aspirants.

Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, at a PDP rally on Monday in Ado Ekiti, declared that God directed him to support his Deputy, Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, to succeed him.

Olusola never said he wanted to be deputy governor, but God instructed me to pick him. I said we will go together after our tenure, but God said I should allow him to stay; that what I said was my own opinion,” Fayose told the huge crowd.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that former minister of state for works, Dayo Adeyeye, a serving senator, Mrs. Biodun Olujimi, and Nigeria’s former envoy in Canada, Dare Bejide, had indicated interest in the PDP’s ticket for the July 14 governorship poll.

The trio, along with a former Fayose aide and justice commissioner, Owoseeni Ajayi, had jointly rejected the adoption of Olusola as the PDP’s sole candidate and described the step as “pedestrian and undemocratic”.

But Fayose, who spoke at the rally held at Okesa area, said that he was not rattled by the negative utterances hurled at him by the anti-Olusola aspirants.

“The PDP has taken a position which we think is in the best interest of the state; we shall not be distracted by those opposed to this step,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the PDP would win the July 14 election “by God’s grace”.Fayose said that the large turn out of people for the rally was a testimony of PDP’s popularity in Ekiti, and warned those thinking of rigging the election to perish that thought as the people would resist that.

He said that his administration had achieved a lot in the areas of infrastructure.

“We have improved on infrastructural development. We built a flyover at Oja Oba market and also built a new governor’s office. We have executed many projects,” he said.

He dismissed allegations that his government had borrowed N56 billion, and declared that he had not borrowed “even a dime” since he came into office.

“Let my opponents know that the elections are not won by propaganda. If they are sure of what they are saying, let them tell us the bank that gave the loan and also produce the papers leading to the transactions,” he said.

Tech: The best thing to eat before and after you exercise, according to the fitness guru behind the viral ‘Insanity’ workout

Aerobic exercise benefits your mind, too — it can lift your mood, for example.

Shaun T. prefers to exercise first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but sometimes needs a snack to keep him fueled before and after a workout.

  • Shaun T. is the mind behind the viral "Insanity" workout.
  • In his new book, "T is for Transformation," Shaun talks about what motivates him to exercise and what he does when he's feeling low on fuel.
  • Shaun told Business Insider that his favorite "powerhouse" food is the sweet potato.

Getting ready to work out is often the hardest part of exercising. You need a plan, a place to do it, the right kind of clothes, good shoes, and enough energy.

Caffeine can help you feel more energetic — but so can certain foods.

Shaun T. is the fitness guru who came up with the viral "Insanity" target="_blank" workout, a grueling 60-day fitness plan that uses interval training — an equipment-free workout approach that involves breaking up quick bursts of sweaty movement with short rest periods. Shaun told Business Insider that while he prefers to exercise first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, he sometimes needs a little something extra to keep him fueled before and after a workout.

His favorite food for a pre- or post-workout snack is sweet potato, or what he calls a "powerhouse food." On days when he's feeling low-energy, he eats half of one about 45 minutes before exercising.

"A half a sweet potato is my best friend," Shaun said. "I call it the powerhouse food. It’s an amazing carb, and you don’t need to add sugar or anything like that. Just bake it and eat it just like that."

Sweet potatoes might be a healthy pre- and post-workout food for many reasons, but one of them is that they're a great source of carbohydrates — the most easily accessible form of fuel for your muscles.

After a heart-pounding, leg-shaking workout, carbs can speedily nourish the parts of your body that need it most.

Plus, despite packing a high dose of carbs, sweet potatoes are also rich in several other nutrients which can help balance out their impact on your energy levels — meaning you won't get a spike in energy and then crash a few hours later. Half of a baked sweet potato gives you 3 grams of fiber, 2 grams of protein, more than three times your daily requirement of vitamin A, and a third of your daily dose of vitamin C. It's also only about 80 to 90 calories, fewer than you'd get from eating a piece of toast.

But don't take my word for it — try it next time you work out.

"Just eat that and you'll be like, 'Oh my goodness,'" Shaun said.

Politics: A Russian military jet flew within 5 feet of a US Navy plane

P 3 Orion

A Russian military SU-27 jet intercepted a US Navy P-3 Orion maritime surveillance aircraft over the Black Sea Monday, coming within five feet of the aircraft.

  • A Russian fighter jet intercepted a US Navy maritime surveillance aircraft over the Black Sea, coming as close as five feet to the US plane.
  • This is just the latest in a number of aggressive air intercepts between the US and Russia.
  • The last aerial intercept involved US and Russian jets over Syria last December.

A Russian SU-27 jet intercepted a US Navy P-3 Orion maritime surveillance aircraft over the Black Sea on Monday, coming within five feet of the aircraft, US Naval Forces Europe confirmed.

"A US EP-3 Aries aircraft flying in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian SU-27," according to the Navy statement.

"This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-27 closing to within five feet and crossing directly through the EP-3's flight path, causing the EP-3 to fly through the SU-27's jet wash."

The incident reportedly forced the crew of the aircraft to prematurely end its mission and was first reported by CNN. Monday's intercept is the latest in a string of "unsafe" intercepts that the Russian military has conducted.

In November, a Russian Su-30 fighter flew as close as 50 feet before turning on its afterburners while intercepting a US Navy P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine warfare aircraft over the same area.

The maneuver forced the plane to enter its jet wash and caused it to undergo a 15-degree roll, Lt. Col. Michelle Baldanza, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said at the time.

The US Navy has been conducting reconnaissance missions over the Black Sea at a high rate since the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014.

There have been a number of aerial intercept incidents between US and Russian aircraft over the past year, even outside of Europe.

The most recent intercept occurred over Syria in December, and saw two US Air Force F-22s be intercepted by Russian Su-25 and Su-35. The US Aircraft had to fire flares as warnings to the Russian jets, one of which "had to aggressively maneuver to avoid a midair collision."

Russia has denied the incident in Syria took place.
