Shehu Sani backs labour over N30,000 minimum wage

A Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has declared support for labour unions in Nigeria over the N30,000 new minimum wage demand.

Sani, while urging state governors willing to pay N22,000 as new wage to add N8,000 to meet the demands of the workers said Nigeria’s economy can sustain the N30,000 minimum wage.

“NLC’s nationwide mass protest is commendable.Those who can pay 22k as minimum wage should just add 8k to make it 30k” Sani said on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Nigeria’s economy can sustain it. The struggle must continue,” he added.

This is coming after The Chairman of Governors Forum, Abdul’aziz Yari after a briefing from the forum’s representatives at the Tripartite Committee on Tuesday night said the governors agreed to pay a national minimum wage of N22,500.

Following the governors declaration, the union insisted it would take nothing less than N30,000 as new minimum wage and threatened to vote out any government that refuses to meet its demand.

It gave the ultimatum in a nationwide protest it held to reaffirm its position and warn Nigerians to stock up on food as the countdown to its planned November 6, 2018 strike nears zero.

The lawmaker, however, said he will add a “strong voice of solidarity” to the workers demand at the National Assembly.

The National Assembly is currently on recess with plenary scheduled to resume November 6th, 2018.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has come under renewed pressure to resign his position and face prosecution after a new video went viral showing him receiving bribe from an unidentified contractor.

The short video, which is the third since the bribery allegation against the governor first broke out, lasts about nearly three minutes, showing the Governor conversing with an unknown contractor in Hausa language, also showed him receiving a bribe.

Jaafar Jaafar, the publisher of Daily Nigerian, the publication that first broke the news, has repeatedly stated that the videos are not doctored as some have claimed and that he has 15 of the said videos showing the governor compromising his position.

In his appearance before the Kano State House of Assembly Panel set up to investigate the matter, Jafar insisted that according to his sources, Ganduje has been collecting between 15 and 25 percent on every contract awarded by his administration, and that should any dispute arise about the videos, he was ready to swear by the Quran that the videos are authentic.

After the latest video went viral on late on Tuesday, Nigerians have taken to social media, expressing their opinion on what should be done to address the matter.

Popular social media influencer, Japheth Omojuwa, through his Twitter handle, has called on the Kano State House of Assembly to ensure a speedy conclusion to its investigation, adding that the scandal is a further dent on President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign.

Many of those who commented on the issue believe Ganduje should take the path of honour and resign without waiting for the State House of Assembly to impeach him.

Halloween: Why Christians need to avoid celebrating this Satanic holiday

Why are Christians celebrating Halloween?

Halloween is a sacred holiday for Wiccans (the official religion of witchcraft). Need I say more?

It is Halloween today, Tuesday, October 31st. On this day, many people around the world play dress up in scary costumes and fancy getups.

Everyone, including Christians, participates in what seems like a ‘harmless fun’ thing to do. What they do not realise that this day is actually quite dark and scary.

 

Witches, occultists, Satanists and anyone that is anti-God believe that the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest on this day, so it is seen as an opportunity to contact the dead. Hence, the name “Feast of the Dead�, another term for Halloween.

This explains why former Satanist, John Ramirez says he is surprised that Christians partake in this ‘holiday.’

 

Speaking with CBN News, he shared some secrets about this dark day, along with a stern warning to believers to avoid this day.

In his words, “I was a general to the kingdom of darkness in witchcraft. I would sit with the Devil and talk to him like I’m talking to you today. It was that kind of communication. It was that kind of relationship.

“Sometimes people say ‘I celebrated Halloween 10 years ago, I did this 15 years ago, I did this 20 years ago.’ But the doors still open. You just cursed your family from three to four generations.

“You have to be aware it’s a curse. You have to go back to the place where you started, that year that you started that Halloween thing, the celebration when you started having that encounter with the dark side. You have to go back to that same spot and renounce and renounce it in the name of Jesus Christ and ask God to forgive you for that so that God can have mercy and close that door so your whole family can move forward.�

“My parents told me before we went around the neighbourhood we were going to go to the church (Mormon Church) to get some candy there. The church was very close to my grandmother’s house, and I knew so from going often.

“We went to the church and what happened next made my blood curdle. I was given candy, but that was just a prelude to the sexual abuse that would happen in a satanic ritual."

It was titled: ‘I Was Abused In A Satanic Halloween Ritual.’ If this is not enough proof of the evil nature of this day, I don't what it is.

Satanic roots of Halloween

Halloween is regarded as one of the two most important “holidays� of the year. On page 96 of the Satanic Bible, Anton LaVey wrote, “After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween.�

 

He has also been quoted saying, “I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one night out of the year. Welcome to Halloween.�

 

We might choose to ignore the truth about this festival of death and focus on the ‘cool’ dress up part. But it does not change the fact that this day definitely holds some dark reality.

This is exactly why no Christian should be celebrating a day that glorifies everything is against the God that we serve (See Deuteronomy 18:9–13).

Saudi prosecutor met with Turkish intelligence on Khashoggi

Saudi Arabia’s chief public prosecutor met members of Turkey’s intelligence agency overnight as part of an investigation into the murder of journalist and Riyadh critic Jamal Khashoggi, local media reported Wednesday.

Attorney General Sheikh Saud al-Mojeb, who travelled to Istanbul this week, left his hotel around 2110 GMT on Tuesday escorted by a convoy and went to the regional head offices of the Turkish Intelligence Organisation (MIT), the private DHA news agency reported.

There was no immediate information on what was discussed.

Khashoggi, a 59-year-old Washington Post contributor, was killed after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 to obtain paperwork ahead of his upcoming wedding. His body has not yet been found.

The case has brought near unprecedented international scrutiny on Saudi Arabia and its powerful Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, whom Khashoggi had criticised.

After weeks of shifting official narratives, Saudi Arabia has said the journalist was killed by a “rogue operation” and arrested 18 people allegedly connected to his death.

Mojeb was the first Saudi official to acknowledge that the killing was “premeditated” based on the results of Turkey’s investigation.

He met with Istanbul chief prosecutor Irfan Fidan twice this week and visited the consulate — the scene of the murder — on Tuesday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly called on Riyadh to reveal the location of the body, as well as who ordered the hit.

Abdulkadir Selvi, a well-connected pro-government columnist in Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper, said the Saudi prosecutor refused to share any information with the Turkish authorities during his visit.

“It seems the Saudi prosecutor is trying to obtain the information in the hands of Turkey rather than share the information he has,” Selvi wrote Wednesday.

He also claimed that Mojeb was in pursuit of Khashoggi’s phone, which the journalist handed to his Turkish fiancee before entering the consulate.

That request sparked “uneasiness” on the Turkish side, the columnist wrote, noting that Mojeb refused to share the testimonies of the 18 suspects. Riyadh has rejected Ankara’s repeated requests for the men to sent to Turkey for trial.

Selvi claimed the prosecutor must know the location of Khashoggi’s body because, he said, the 18 suspects had confessed.

“Why did the chief prosecutor hide this information from the Turkish side?” Selvi asked.

“Because the chief prosecutor is working to save crown prince by covering up the investigation rather than shed light on the murder.”

Nigerian Doctors Successfully Separate Conjoined Twins At Abuja Hospital

A team of Nigerian doctors has successfully separated a set of conjoined twins at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada.

The doctors, led by Dr Nuhu Kwajafa of the Global Peace Initiatives, confirmed the success of the operation that took them several hours on Tuesday in a post on his Instagram account @nuhukwaj.

“We wish to express our profound gratitude, as we say a massive thank you to Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, for his kind-hearted and extremely generous gesture to the successfully separated twins and their family…God bless you, Sir,� Kwajafa posted.

The spokesman to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Hassan Turaki, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that Dogara was moved by the plight of the parents to settle the medical bill.

Igbo World Assembly, IWA, has insisted in the implementation of restructuring, regionalization, and devolution of powers for a better political system in the country.

This is even as the group has listed eleven point political agenda for political leaders contesting for political positions must meet in 2019 Nigerian general elections,

IWA is the umbrella body of Igbo organizations worldwide in over 35 countries and the representatives of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo in diaspora.

The diaspora group in a world press conference jointly addressed by its Chairman, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, Oliver Nwankwor, Secretary General, IWA, at the weekend noted that candidates for political positions must be committed to core beliefs and principles including respect for constitution and rule of law, respect for human right and civil rights, respect for the federal character commission rules, merit based appointment to government positions, firm knowledge and competent management of Nigeria’s economy, detribalized appointments and leadership in all sectors of the government.

Other core principles potential political leaders must meet, according to IWA, will also include equal and equitable treatment of all Nigerian regardless of tribes of origins or religion, elimination of ethnic cleansing in the Nigerian political space belief in free and fair electoral process and not on rigging of elections and belief in a government that will unite all Nigerians and not one that is divisive.

This is even as the diaspora Igbo group expressed satisfaction over the nomination of the Presidential aspirants and the Vice Presidents of the two major political parties, the All Peoples Congress, APC, led by Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osibanjo and the People Democratic Party led by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

“We want a Nigeria where the majority’s right is balanced with the minority’s right. We want a Nigeria where various ethnic groups feel that they have a stake in the future of the country.

Meanwhile, IWA leaders from the 35-member countries after deliberations on the global teleconference Skype meeting on the 14th October, had unanimously commended the People Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for his decision to nominate Peter Obi as PDP vice presidential candidate.

The group while pleading with the Southeast leaders in People Democratic Party to rally around the choice of Obi in accordance with the desire of the majority of the nation said that the decision and choice by Atiku Abubakar has elevated the political scene for 2019 presidential election and presents new hope for Nigeria as a nation.

The choice of Obi, according to IWA, has generated widespread acceptance by many Nigerians, particularly among the youths.

“IWA considers the opinions of the youths to be vital because the youths constitute the largest majority of the Nigerian population and must be factored into the political future of the country.

“Investigation by IWA Security Institute, revealed that over the years, Peter Obi, as a political and business leader has been mobilizing, reintegrating, re-educating and re-orienting of the youths on several conference and summit presentations in and around the globe. Obi has also been engaged with the political and business leaders within and outside Nigeria,” the group said.

“Obi’s exemplary governance of Anambra State in his 8-year term in office,” IWA noted, “changed the face of the state.”
