Brexit Sends Britons Seeking Irish Passports Up 22% In 2018

The number of British citizens applying for Irish passports rose by 22 per cent in 2018, Ireland’s foreign office said on Monday, more than doubling the total of annual applications since Britain voted to leave the EU.

Almost 100,000 eligible Britons sought to hang onto their EU citizenship via a passport from their nearest neighbour this year, up from 81,000 in 2017 and 46,000 in 2015, the year before the Brexit vote led to a sharp rise in applications.

Anybody born in the Irish Republic or Northern Ireland, or with an Irish parent or grandparent, is entitled to an Irish passport – a total of about six million British citizens.

They are able to hold dual citizenship.

Registrations for Irish passports in Northern Ireland, whose citizens can hold both an Irish and British passport as the province is part of the United Kingdom, rose by two per cent in the year to the end of December.

With three months left until the UK is due to leave the EU on March 29, the draft divorce deal reached between both sides is floundering ahead of a planned vote in the British parliament next month.

This will be opening up a range of possibilities from a Brexit without a trade deal to calling it off entirely. (dpa/NAN)

How I slept with the girl next door Part 1 {R-18+}

<p class="">She then jumped up, put her arms around me and began kissing me, thrusting her tongue into my mouth so quickly.</p>

<p class="">I was going to a school not too far from home and also dating a girl that lives about an hour away, but that had just ended as I found out she had been cheating on me after finding condom wrappers in her room that weren’t from the ones I bought.</p>

<p class="">There was this house behind mine where this beautiful girl I had grown up with for years lived. Bimpe had moved in with her family several years ago, and we were great friends from secondary school. </p>

<p class="">I taught her math and science all through secondary school and we spent hours at the kitchen table studying. After secondary school she went away to a school 4 hours away but we always hung out with groups of friends.  </p>

<p class="">While at the University, we usually chatted once or twice a week on Whatsapp. She had a steady boyfriend that she met during orientation and I thought she would end up marrying him, and that was fine, as we were friends.</p>

<p class="">She came home for the break in early May, and we had gone out with our old secondary school squad a few times, especially now that most of us were 21.  </p>

<p class="">So, one warm night in late July, about say 10:00pm I was on reading messages on Whatsapp at home, and Bimpe sent me a message asking what I was up to, and told her nothing, and asked if I wanted to go to a nearby club, to which I agreed. </p>

<p class="">I got a quick shower, put on some clean jeans and a nice collared shirt. So I got in my car and picked up Bimpe. </p>

<p class=""> She came out wearing a strapless top and a short skirt. I have to say, she looked quite amazing. I asked her if anyone else wanted to go and she said no. So off to the club we went.  </p>

<p class="">We got there in about 45 minutes and we waited in line for another 20 to be searched by the security guys. While waiting, I asked her how things were with her boyfriend and she told me they had split up. I asked why and she told me he cheated on her when she walked in on him with another girl. </p>

<p class="">I told her how sorry I was and she told me it’s alright, since it’s for the better. I told her my relationship had ended too, and she felt sorry as well. We went into the club and I asked her if she wanted a drink, and I got us some drinks. We spent the next few hours catching up and doing some dancing and drinking.  </p>

<p class="">Then we both got a little tipsy, so I told her I needed to sober up for the road, and she had a few more. We were just dancing and having a good time, and found each other doing a bit of grinding on the floor. Admittedly, I was getting quite aroused and wondered if she could tell, even through my jeans. Around midnight, we decided to hit the road. I asked if she wanted to go anywhere else and she said nah, but if you wanna come watch a movie or something, let’s do that.  </p>

<p class="">We got out of the car and realized how warm it still was, and I suggested we go swimming a bit at my house, and she agreed and ran home to put on her swimsuit. I changed and she came back, and for some reason, she looked even sexier and filled out her top quite nicely. I threw her in and jumped in after her, and we just played around a bit in the pool. When I grabbed her, I think she could tell I was getting quite aroused at her, to which she began to tease by playing with her top more and more.  </p>

<p class="">Finally, Bimpe commented on it and I just told her flat out <em>"from the moment I saw you, I thought you were the sexiest thing alive. I can’t believe someone would cheat on you!"</em> She then jumped up, put her arms around me and began kissing me, thrusting her tongue into my mouth so quickly.</p>

<p class=""><em>To be continued…</em></p>

2019: 14 Candidates To Fly SDP Flags In Benue North East

Ambode

MAKURD – The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Benue State has issued party flags to 14 candidates from the North East Senatorial district of the state expected to fly its flags in the 2019 elections.

This is even as Barnabas Gemade, the Senator representing the zone and also the party’s candidate for the 2019 elections in the zone, said he joined politics in order to emancipate the down-trodden.

He also appealed to the people of the zone to give him the last chance by voting him into office in 2019 to serve them before retiring from active politics.

Gemade made the appeal when he was presented the party’s flag by the National Vice Chairman of the party for North Central zone, Arch. Paul Uma, at LGEA Primary School, Ge-Mbagwa, Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state the weekend.

Gemade explained that before he joined politics he was among those who ensured people of the zone were provided jobs and placed in advantageous positions.

He however lamented that when such people got to those positions, out of greed they converted all they got for themselves and their families, instead of making the benefits available for the general good of the people.

Worried by the development, Gemade disclosed that elders in the zone urged him to get into politics to salvage the situation.

Gemade used the occasion which also marked the official flag-off of his campaign declared that his track record of providing clinics, rehabilitation of roads, drilling of boreholes for his constituents spoke for him.

While he appealed to the people of Benue North East to give him the last chance to serve them, he urged Kwande people to prepare someone he would hand over the mantle of leadership to in 2023 before he bows out of active politics.

Gemade who served his first term as senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the second on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is taking his third shot at the seat on the platform of the SDP.

Speaking on behalf of the House of Representative candidate in the zone, Orlu Pawa, pledged the SDP would give the people of the zone quality representation if voted into power in 2019.

He stated that a former governor of the state, Moses Adasu, who won the election on the platform of the SDP also put up a superlative performance, adding that a SDP-led government would replicate the achievements of Adasu.

Earlier, State Chairman of SDP, John Enemari, warned that the party would not spare any party official in the state who engages in unwholesome activities.

He, however, advised candidates of the SDP in the state to show respect for party officials who are working tirelessly to ensure the victory of the party in the state.

Enemari also assured the people of the state to have faith in the SDP, pledging the party would not fail the people of the state.

In his remarks on the occasion, Stephen Hwande, the state SDP governorship candidate, vowed to take after the steps of the first Executive Governor of the state, Aper Aku, who made laudable achievements.

One Senatorial candidate, three House of Representatives candidates and 10 Houses of Assembly candidates from the zone got the nod of the party to fly the flags at the 2019 general elections.

Boko Haram: Borno politicians accused of causing panic amongst residents

Politicians from Borno State have been fingered in spinning of fake news to cause panic among residents of the state.

The Arewa Youths Integrity Forum (AYIF) made this revelation on Sunday via a statement.

According to the youth group, the brazen exhibition of acts of treachery and distortions of insecurity by some Nigerians, especially political players in Borno State is becoming worrisome, to say the least.

AYIF said some politicians were taking advantage of the ongoing unrest in the state to enrich themselves and settle political scores.

ALSO READ: The Metele attack

Alhaji Sani Kolo, Secretary General of the group said some politicians from the state were allegedly masterminding the renewed attacks on citizens and military bases in Borno State.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday, Kolo claimed some persons were exploiting the renewed feeble resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the Northeast to spread unfounded rumours to cause panic and hysteria to the natives who left IDPs camps months back.

Kolo said: “We have had a flurry of text messages forwarded from our people who are residents of communities like Bama, Dikwa and Monguno. These SMS are from characters who feign close relations with the recipients or Nigerians “concerned about their safety.

“The nauseating messages come with barefaced warnings of the natives of these communities to relocate to IDPs camps for unstated reasons; thereby promoting fear and panic in the residents. But these are overtly locals who are untroubled, by the feeble strikes of shadowy operations of remnants of insurgents far from their vicinities; but excited that they are dwelling in peaceful, secured villagers once abandoned for months or years.

“It will be recalled that AYIF has had cause in the past to frown at the covert activities of political power mongers in Nigeria and their local agents and collaborators who prefer to see the progression of Boko Haram insurgency and the triumph of the terrorists against the Nigerian state.

“It is an open secret; these gangs of awkward, odious, greedy and expired breed of politicians are masquerading as messiahs of today. But they delight more in bloodshed and insecurity. They infinitely hate to see the end of terrorism in Nigeria, which they have persistently exploited for both political and economic gains. They are less concerned about the pains and sorrows they have wrought on our people and the country.

“Credible evidence at our disposal astoundingly confirms that the current resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the Northeast, especially in obscure parts of Borno are sponsored to dwarf and rubbish the positive records of President Muhammadu Buhari on Boko Haram terrorism counter-war and the other multifaceted insecurity challenges in the country. Buhari’s enemies and arch traditional political rivals have figured Mr. President as an unbeatable force in the 2019 elections and all manner of bloody distractions are contrived to belittle his efforts.

“AYIF is not bothered about how President Buhari’s opponents wish to tackle him in the electioneering campaigns preceding the next general elections in Nigeria. The political theatre is open for Nigerians to decide who leads them from May 2019. But what is certain and will never be tolerated is the renewal of the bloodshed, pains and sufferings of our people in the Northeast, using the template of Boko Haram insurgency.

“We have resolved never to allow these Luciferic forces to play politics with the lives and security of our people again. And if they fail to heed to this caution, we know their identities and shall not hesitate to expose them for all Nigerian to know, as first point of the expression of our anger. AYIF is aware of their evil plots and will not watch them take us back to the Egyptian servitude of the days they controlled power in Nigeria.

“There is no real or imagined justification for anybody or group of persons to conspiratorially circulate frightfully damaging messages to natives of communities and villages in Borno, “advising them to abandon their homesteads and relocate to IDPs camps for another round of bondage in their country.

Activists Call On FG To End Killings In Zamfara

Lagos – A group of human rights activists has called on the Federal Government to put an end to the incessant killing of unarmed citizens, abduction and rape of women by armed bandits that have been terrorising the law-abiding people of Zamfara State for quite some time.

The group expressed sadness that despite the assurance by the Federal Government to protect the lives and property of every Nigerian citizen, the armed bandits have continued to unleash mayhem on the people of state unabated.

In a letter signed by 13 different human right groups, they urged the government to Immediately end the involvement of the Army in the maintenance of internal security in the country, saying such intervention usually lead to wanton killing of innocent people.

The statement read in part: “After Governor Abdulaziz Yari announced that he was quitting as the Chief Security Officer of the State and urged Allah to take control of the security situation.  Since then, the intensity of the reckless attacks by the armed bandits has continued unabated. Having been left completely at the mercy of the criminal gangs the people have decided to draw public attention to their plight by embarking on peaceful rallies.

“The fundamental rights of the Nigerian people to assemble peacefully and express themselves freely is guaranteed by the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) we support the rallies convened by the people of Zamfara State to protest the state of anarchy and chaos in the State.

“However, instead of adopting adequate measures to restore law and order in the State, the Nigerian Army as been dispatched by the federal government to stop the protests. As usual, armed troops have killed a number of the people for staging protests against the armed bandits.

In addition, the activists are also seeking the “Immediately end to harassment and intimidation of the people of Zamfara State by the Nigerian Army; urgent recruit and train an adequate number of police personnel to secure the country; pay adequate compensation to the families of the people who have been killed by the armed bandits and Nigerian Army in Zamfara State; and  ensure prosecution of the armed bandits arrested by security forces for committing the offences of rape, armed robbery, abduction, culpable homicide and other human rights abuses and crimes under international law.

Signitaries to the document include Bamisope Adeyanju (SERAP Senior Legal Adviser); Femi Falana (SAN); Dr Kolawole Olaniyan; Dr Chidi Odinkalu, Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Adetokunbo Mumuni, Lanre Suraj Malachi Ugwummadu, and the Amnesty International, Nigeria.

Atiku offers Nigerians hope in New Year message

<p class="">He said Nigerians must not settle but work deliberately to improve the nation.</p>

<h1>The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to back him to forge a new era of hope and prosperity for the nation.</h1>

<p class="">The former vice president is one of the favourites to emerge victorious in the 2019 presidential election, and he has called on Nigerians to make it a reality so that the nation can set a new course of leadership.</p>

<p class="">In a new year message signed by the candidate on Monday, December 31, 2018, he noted that the year 2019 holds a lot of promise for the country as long as Nigerians are ready to do the hard work of voting out the current government.</p>

<p class="">He said Nigerians must work deliberately to improve the nation by electing a government that offers purposeful leadership.</p>

<p class="">"<em>We already have the vision, the vision of a nation that is a beacon of hope for the Black Race and the world at large, what we lack and what 2019 can provide, is the leadership that has the capacity to translate that vision into reality.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"In 2019, Nigerians need a leadership that is 100% for 100% of Nigerians, 100% of the time,"</em> he said.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Read his full statement below:</strong></p>

<p class=""><em>"My dear fellow citizens,</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"As 2018 comes to an end and 2019 beckons, on behalf of my family and I, let me wish you and your family a very happy New Year in advance.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"In 2018, we became the world headquarters for extreme poverty, however, I am convinced that in 2019, if we chart a new course, we can become the world headquarters for hope and extreme devotion to the cause of lifting our people out of poverty.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"2019 is as yet a blank page. As a nation, we must not settle for whatever it brings. Rather, we must take collective action, through our choices, in making it a year where we revive national hope, with visionary leadership that sees our economy and institutions working again as they did in our golden era.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"We can chart a new course and open a new chapter that sees every Nigerian living in peace and prosperity with their neighbour. It can be the year when our youths finally get a job instead of being unfairly tagged as lazy. With purposeful leadership, it can also be the year when we put an end to terrorism and usher in a golden age of peace.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"But it will not just happen by itself. We have to make changes from the top all the way to the bottom. We already have the vision, the vision of a nation that is a beacon of hope for the Black Race and the world at large, what we lack and what 2019 can provide, is the leadership that has the capacity to translate that vision into reality.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"In 2019, Nigerians need a leadership that is 100% for 100% of Nigerians, 100% of the time. We have seen where division and sectionalism has led us to. Now let us try unity and patriotism.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"Don’t lose heart and hope. Nigeria is no stranger to overcoming difficulties. In fact, we have an uncanny ability to perform our best when the worst is upon us. I urge my fellow countrymen and women to remember how we became the first nation in the world to defeat and overcome the Wild Ebola Virus, when even First World nations were struggling with the scourge.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"That resilience is domiciled in our national psyche and together we shall win forever. We shall win over forces of disunity. We shall win over forces of poverty and backwardness.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"But more importantly, in 2019, I want Nigerians to know that it is possible to have a leadership that is compassionate and that this does not equate to weakness. A leadership that is bold but not domineering. A leadership that is intelligent, but not arrogant.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"Indeed, that is the only type of leadership that can navigate the difficulties currently facing our dear nation and lead us to Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress, which are our national motto and which are the hope of all Nigerians.</em></p>

<p class=""><em>"Once again, I wish you all a Happy New Year and may 2019 be the year of Nigeria."</em></p>

Provide evidence on Buhari’s Etisalat, Keystone shares, Keyamo dares Atiku

KEYAMO APC

Four days after former Vice-President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, alleged that relations of President Muhammadu were the hidden faces behind the new ownership structure of multi-billion naira telecoms giant, Etisalat (now 9mobile) Nigeria as well as Keystone Bank, Festus Keyamo, Director, Strategic Communications President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, has dared the PDP presidential candidate and the main opposition party to provide convincing evidence to back the allegations.

The former Vice-President in a ststement last Tuesday, had called on appropriate authorities to urgently institute a probe to unravel the new ownership structure of the telecommunication firm and the bank.

The PDP presidential candidate further noted that the probe was necessary in view of reports that members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s family now own substantial shares in Etisalat (9mobile) Nigeria which has an estimated $2bn (about N727bn at 360 per dollar) of its estimated $20bn global net worth.

Atiku further alleged that the first family now plays big in the nation’s financial sector after acquiring mouthwatering shares in Keystone Bank with total assets of $1.916bn (equivalent to N307.5b) as well as purchasing about N3b worth of shares in the new Pakistani Islamic Bank.

But Festus Keyamo, said Atiku’s claims were lies to cover up the PDP presidential candidate sordid past and desperation to return to the Presidential Villa.

He said: “A few days ago, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, called out President Muhammadu Buhari over certain allegations of “corrupt practicesâ€ which the President allegedly condones in his government. Whilst we have repeatedly addressed each and every of the instances cited by him to show the transparent nature of the government, it is shocking that the Presidential candidate of the main opposition has refused to issue a personal statement up till this minute clarifying in details his record of crass corruption and abuse of office. He is clearly taking Nigerians for a ride and hopes to distort the ethical revolution in public office that Nigerians clearly desire to his own philosophy of abusing public office to promote private interests.

“By his subliminal messages, he wants Nigerians to accept that becoming wealthy by abusing public office is not a bad thing after all.

“With the avalanche of fake and unsubstantiated news released in the last few days, it is now clear that PDP’s strategy in the run up to the elections is to spread fake news and make wild allegations without any proof against the President and the Vice President. This is clearly to divert attention from the record of crass corruption and abuse of office of their own candidate. Nigerians cannot and should not be insulted by the PDP after 16 years of looting of the nation, by now putting forward a man whose record of corruption they very much acknowledge, but would rather we all overlook it.

“After three days of publicly announcing that they have hard proof that the President’s relations bought shares in Etisalat and Keystone Bank, the PDP has not produced a single piece of paper, a document of any sort to buttress the grave allegations it made. This is how shameless and callous the Atiku team has become, all in a desperate bid to get their hands on the public purse.

“Lastly, we challenge Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the umpteen time to produce his tax receipts for 2015, 2016 and 2017. It is shocking that a man who has not been paying his Personal Income Taxes now says he wants to “get Nigerians working againâ€ – whatever that means. He is only deceiving himself and not the intelligent Nigerians that we know.”

Keyamo equally challenged the PDP presIdential candidate to come clean on what he called the notorious money laundering allegations against him in the United States.

New Year: 7 most important relationship advice you need going into 2019

<p class="">Here is your chance to do better in love than you did in 2018.</p>

<h1>The turn of the year is upon us. We are in the transition period between 2018 and 2019, that point where everyone’s slate is wiped clean and we all get a fresh start.</h1>

<p class="">The opportunity to set the right tone, to do things right and get your act right is once again presented. Whether you are in love already, still waiting for love to find you, whether you are married, still crushing or already in the process of making someone’s son or daughter become the love of your life, here are 10 really important relationship lessons you need most in the year 2019.</p>

<p class=""><strong>1.   Always be yourself</strong></p>

<p class="">Especially to the person you claim to love and hope to spend a part of your life with. It profits nothing in the long run to be fake even to those who should always see you bare. People will hate you regardless of which side you project and some would love you regardless, too.</p>

<p class="">If they can’t love the real you, what’s the point anyway?</p>

<figure class="image" align="center"> <img src="http://bit.ly/2SoYN5b" alt="If it does not make you this happy more often than not, what’s the point? [Credit: Memphis Depay/Instagram]"> <figcaption>If it does not make you this happy more often than not, what’s the point? [Credit: Memphis Depay/Instagram]</figcaption> </figure>

<p class=""><strong>2.    Focus a lot on developing yourself</strong></p>

<p class="">It is easy for people to be attracted and to keep being attracted to people with great lives. It is that simple. Be in love with your SO, but very much with yourself as well. Be the best at your career, generate results, look good, grow in your bandwidth of wisdom and knowledge. It is always a winning strategy to work endlessly on yourself.</p>

<p class=""><strong>3.Cut off exes</strong></p>

<p class="">Delete that number, especially the one belonging to that ex who still has so much power over you. You won’t move on if you do not deliberately cut him or her off.</p>

<p class=""><strong>ALSO READ:</strong><a href="http://bit.ly/2ApoBrc" id="b028e063-2b00-415f-be61-a18ddacad360"> Bad relationship habits to leave behind in 2018</a></p>

<p class=""><strong>4. </strong><a href="http://bit.ly/2Sp1TGx" id="3afd344f-aeb1-403d-8cc2-d1795009ba99">Make the first move</a></p>

<p class="">This is especially for the ladies — is there someone you’ve been eyeballing for some time that you’ve never plucked up the courage to ask out? Ask yourself what you have to lose from a refusal then go out there and ask for what you want!</p>

<figure class="image" align="center"> <img src="http://bit.ly/2ApfTZO" alt="You will be surprised at how easy it is to get that guy you have a crush on [Credit: Shutterstock]"> <figcaption>You will be surprised at how easy it is to get that guy you have a crush on [Credit: Shutterstock]</figcaption> </figure>

<p class=""><strong>5. </strong><a href="http://bit.ly/2Stlx49" id="2f6659f3-fef8-40b8-b7b1-ca25608f5547">Communicate a lot more</a></p>

<p class="">Say what’s on your mind. Let your partner know how you are feeling, what you are feeling and what can be done to help the situation. Also learn how to make your case and good timing. These are other important factors of communication.</p>

<p class=""><strong>6. Be happy</strong></p>

<p class="">If dating isn’t enjoyable, then what exactly is the point? However you decide to approach relationships in 2019, make sure that you’re having fun. If you are in a relationship, make sure you are happy and contented. If these are not in place and all you get is unhappiness, what’s the point?</p>

<p class=""><strong>7. Less phone, more outdoor activities</strong></p>

<p class="">Enough time spent on the phone. Focus instead on getting yourself out there, meeting people and actually interacting with people in real life as much as you do online. Say yes a little more often. Sometimes, the best opportunities do not come as you expected.</p>

2019: Edo NPC Assembly Candidate Decries Marginalisation Of Women In Politics

Benin – The Nigeria People’s Congress (NPC) House of Assembly candidate for Edo State, Vivian Eweka, has decried the marginalization of women in Nigerian politics, noting that women have not been given the opportunity to express themselves.

She expressed her resentment while flagging off her political campaign in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.

Eweka said women had the capacity to govern the country and effect the needed change if given the chance but they had been relegated to the background in the nation’s political sphere, adding that she was in politics to set the pace for other women.

“Women are vibrant but we have not been given the room to really express ourselves. In my government, women will express themselves and they will see the glory of a woman, not just me, I am not going there for myself but for female folks, she said.

The party’s state chairman, Godfrey Ehimhen Ehizokhale, expressed confidence in the candidacy of the party’s flag-bearer, saying she had all that it takes to usher development in the community.

Commending the stance of the NPC candidate, the traditional ruler of the community, Owen Akenzua, represented by Friday Ahanuwa, said before now, he had seen aspirants coming into the community to solicit support into one political office or the other.

He pointed out that it was more pleasing and beneficial to the people of the area to have one of their daughters indicating interest to contest and represent her people at the state House of Assembly.

Akenzua assured the candidate of their support and enjoined inhabitants of the community to rally round her and give her the necessary support to succeed.

Here are the 7 best Nigerian songs to play on New Year’s eve

<h1>2019 is hours away and we have the perfect playlist to help you countdown into the new year.</h1>

<p class="">Whether you are having a party with friends or crossing over in church, music will in one form or another be a feature to see you through the last day of 2018 and usher you into the new year.</p>

<p class="">From pop anthems to gospel songs, the right tunes create the perfect atmosphere and charges up the excitement of hope, expectations and belief going into the new year.</p>

<p class="">So whatever your taste is, we have got you covered with the 7 favorite Nigerian songs that would put you into the right mood going into the new year.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Jaywon – This Year [Odun Yi]</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>Jaywon – This Year ODUN YI {Official Video}</figcaption> </figure>

<p class="">A prayer, a confession and a prophecy of faith is what Jaywon’s <em>’This Year'</em> offers the average Nigerian.</p>

<p class="">With lyrics like, <em>”We making money this year, no matter what them do things be better this year”</em>, Jaywon captures the everyday plea of the people and stirs hope where there seemingly is very little and who wouldn’t sing along when he promises, <em>”this year, this year, greater things”</em></p>

<p class="">The High life tune mixed with afro-pop was released in 2013 and you can bet that come the early hours of 2019, this will yet again be one of the most played songs on radio and at parties.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Dammy Krane – Amin</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>Dammy Krane – Amin [Official Video]</figcaption> </figure>

<p class="">Released in 2014, Dammy Krane follows an identical template to that of Jaywon as he again arouses a surreal hope of success coming with the new year.</p>

<p class=""><em>Amin</em> is simply a prayer. Steeped in simple lyrics and a call back hook, it is a prayer about succeeding in life, and getting what your heart desires.</p>

<p class="">For an artist who has had a fairly inconsistent career, this is one songs that has ensured that his legacy stays intact for a long while.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Victor AD – Wetin We Gain</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>VICTOR AD – WETIN WE GAIN (OFFICIAL VIDEO)</figcaption> </figure>

<p class=""><a href="http://bit.ly/2Sw25Us" id="438ccaab-dfac-495c-9dac-3a061dbd2392">’Wetin We Gain'</a> is one of the biggest songs in 2018 and it is not really difficult to see why.</p>

<p class=""><em>”Oluwa magbegbe mi, I want all this money, I no wan take the same step wey I take last year wey no work for me oh.” </em>No one wishes to repeat the mistakes of the past year and as we usher in a new year, it presents a clean slate for a lot of Nigerians to re-strategize and hopefully get things right </p>

<p class="">As we step into the new year, If we no make money, truly, <em>wetin we gain?</em></p>

<p class=""><strong>Burna Boy – Ye</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>Burna Boy – Ye (Official Video)</figcaption> </figure>

<p class="">Unarguably, the <a href="http://bit.ly/2An0Bok" id="74aaaa27-e8e4-4510-a11d-9764ea028a69">biggest Nigerian song of 2018</a>. Burna Boy scored a classic with <em>Ye</em> and come the new year, making the choice between the <em>’G Wagon or the Bentley'</em> is one that many will definitely seek to be making especially as it is the year of the general elections and irrespective of the plenty suffering, <em>”we can’t come and kill ourselves.”</em></p>

<p class=""><strong>CAC Good Women Choir – Odun Lo Sopin</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>Good Women Choir C A C Ibadan 01 Odun Nlo Sopin, Pt 1</figcaption> </figure>

<p class="">The classic anthem released In 1979 by the CAC Good Women Choir is the perfect final outcry for God to shine his light on us just before the year ends.</p>

<p class=""><a href="http://bit.ly/2SzmIiN" id="665213dc-8cf5-4db6-b07d-55016219130f">’Odun Lo Sopin'</a> is originally a hymn that was sung at the end of each year by all CAC churches but was soon transformed into a full record with the addition of two verses by the choir and decades after, the song remains one of the most played at gospel gatherings at this time every year.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Olamide – Poverty Die</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>Olamide – Poverty Die</figcaption> </figure>

<p class=""><strong>Olamide</strong>’s last single for 2018 <em>’Poverty Die'</em> is one that seeks to bring death to Poverty and who wouldn’t want that in the new year.</p>

<p class=""><em>”Money we no get focus”</em> is an interesting prayer point and backed by an infectious hook and lively percussion, ‘Woli’ [Prophet] Olamide leads us into the new year in a prophetic praise and worship fanfare that has us all singing along.</p>

<p class=""><strong>Chinko Ekun – ‘Able God’ feat Lil Kesh and Zlatan</strong></p>

<figure class="embedded_application" align="center"> <figcaption>CHINKO EKUN – ABLE GOD ft LIL KESH X ZLATAN IBILE [OFFICIAL VIDEO]</figcaption> </figure>

<p class="">Release in the last quarter of 2018, <em>’Able God'</em> ended up as one of the viral anthems for 2018.</p>

<p class="">Yet another song that comes as a prayer for wealth, success and breakthrough, <strong>Chinko Ekun </strong>alongside <strong>Lil Kesh </strong>and<strong> Zlatan </strong>not only captures the pulse of the streets but they also deliver the perfect soundtrack for the now trending dance, <a href="http://bit.ly/2Apmd3I" id="54ecab90-e5c6-4f50-b6b4-e3af97a210c4">Zanku</a>.</p>

<p class="">You only need to see the reactions of Nigerians when this song comes up to understand why this is a must-play into the new year.</p>

<p class="">Come 2019, the motto will be <em>”No more insufficient funds”</em> because <em>”a ti sise”</em> [We have worked].</p>
